Disappointed, read this book in 20 minutes - no information beyond the basics which you could read regarding GSPs off Wikipedia and the like. Would not call it a 'complete pointing dog training and hunting guide' with the limited information given, more like a 'basic introduction'. Good for people considering the breed who have done little to no research already.

This book is an excellent overview of the GSP. It gives excellent information on the characterization of the dog, training the dog and caring for him. This book accurately tells you everything you need to know. You could tell that the author knows what she's talking about. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about living with German Shorthair Pointers. The book is not only informative, it is also fun to read. I liked some of the training techniques. This is not a book to read just once, it's something to use as a reference when you have questions on your dog.

Considering a GSP as a bird dog and wanted to know a bit more about them as a pet as well, I know they can find pheasants. This was a good overview of the breed as both a pet and a hunter and a very quick read. Not complete in the hunt training area but there are many books dedicated to just that topic.
