DOUBLE TAKE is suspenseful, exciting and erotic. I am not typically drawn to post-apocalyptic novels, but this one caught my eye. Alyssa Turner did a wonderful job with the world building aspect of the story, it was extremely well thought out and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are looking for a story that will suck you in to another time and place and turn you on, then DOUBLE TAKE just might be the story for you!

If you love sizzling hot menage tales...with TWINS, Double Take is your read! The chemistry between Shannon, Pryor and Tristan literally melted my e-reader! I loved how Alyssa Turner was able to weave a suspenseful, high-octane page turner with oodles of dripping hot sex!
I enjoyed the way Alyssa shaded and layered the delicious differences between twin brothers Pryor and Tristan. The way both of them loved her was unique to each man and a double helping of goodness for me as the reader.
Double Take will take you on a wild, erotically charged ride! Alyssa Turner has officially become one of my new favorite authors!
A futuristic, dystopian, ménage. It has a strong female lead, which always makes for better reading. The book is erotic but also has a good story arc involving a power-hungry corporation, a resistance movement, cloning, and alpha males that aren't Neanderthals. Okay, I have to admit I discovered a secret love affair with m/f/m romances not too long ago. There’s a fantasy element to this type of storyline I will admit I love to read. And this is one of the best I’ve read.
Now, I also have to admit I had some problems with the story itself. The biggest being that nothing was explained upfront. The story itself was very well written, but in the beginning, I had no idea what, really, was going on. There wasn't enough explanations for me to truly understand what was happening. As an erotic, I expected the sex to jump right in there, but it doesn’t. Because this isn’t your usual erotic romance. There’s an actual story here. And so the beginning of the novel is all plot building. In the beginning it’s a little complicated, she's using terms that I have no frame of reference for in order to understand what they meant. So, I’m a little confused. I’m the type of reader who reads for escapism. I don’t want to have to think too much about what I’m reading. So, I found this part frustrating. I’ll admit it. I almost put it down, but something said, no, keeping reading.
I also didn’t quite believe that Tristan was her captor, but when she meets him for the first time, she hugs him. Like she’d been waiting for him. I found that a little farfetched. I would have been angry. I would have decked him. As a reader, I wanted to hear him explain it to her and earn that hug. That being said…it was a beautiful moment. I can feel their love for each other. I can feel his anxiety and anxiousness to see her. So that I’m pacing right along with him, and the moment she touches him…I melt.
Which brings me to why I loved this book so much. I read a book solely for the romance, and this is what kept me reading. She made me care and I became involved in the romance between these characters. Their love story. Because that’s what this is. It’s not just about the sex, as most erotics are these days. Tristan’s love for Shannon is evident from the beginning, and that’s what drew me in. So that once the romance picked up, I didn’t care anymore that I had no idea what anything meant. I was glued to this book, speed reading to get to those bits of them. ‘Yeah yeah, honey, dinner’s going to be late tonight’ kind of feeling. The romance itself…was beautifully done. It was moving, and emotional, and very sexy.
The characterization is superb. I’m in the main character’s head. I like her, I empathize with her. Tristan and Pryor are superb heroes. Pryor is a bit alpha for me, but I liked that he was Shannon’s strength. He pushed her to be the best she can be. As a romance hero, though, I preferred Tristan.
The love scenes are tastefully done. It’s erotic, but it’s not raunchy. The author has taken an emotional, romantic story…and simply turned up the heat. There are no vulgar terms or references. These are my favorite types of erotic romances, and sadly, it’s rare to find them. So, this was a treat for me. The first time Shannon makes love to Tristan, without Pryor, is simply beautiful. I can feel the love pouring off the pages between those two.
An excellent read. Sexy and moving, and I’m up at five in the morning to write a review because I haven’t stopped thinking about this book. I couldn’t stop reading it, either. Highly recommended.
Oh wow, baby. Double Take by Alyssa Turner is one hot read sure to sizzle your senses. I’ve never read a futuristic post-apocalyptic erotic story but I’m sure glad I have now. Turner weaves a unique story featuring one tough business lady Shannon, who wrestles with her own desires and enlightenment of the type of society she’s a part of. I loved how Shannon embraced her wild side, falling for two ex-military resistance fighters – Tristan and Pryor, who then in turn fall hard for her. I don’t want to give any big plots away but there’s a neat twist in the book I thoroughly enjoyed. I especially loved the French-Canadian characters and sub-plot thrown into this story. Double Take delivers a satisfying futuristic erotic read you can’t put down.
The sex scenes were hot but I skipped a few because I was much more interested in the story. After awhile it seemed like the sex scenes were in the way. I actually wished there was more to it than it was. Had so many questions about the society itself, Eaglecorps, and Shannon's kidnapping. Ah well. Good enough story.
This was an interesting story. I was often wondering to myself whether Eaglecorp was just some sort of socialized government masquerading as a money-making venture. It sort of made sense... some horrible thing happens, the government steps in to take care of its people. Gives "credits" in return for work. Only this government/corporation overstepped in a major way and essentially took over the lives of its employees. And if you were against the corporation, you were the enemy.
Shannon is doing well in the corporation. She has a good job, a sharp mind. Two years before, she'd been abducted by a group of the resistance. They held her for several weeks while trying to get a ransom from the corporation. Shannon sort of fell in love with one of her captors, even though she'd never seen his face. He protected her somewhat from the ringleader.
Now, two years later, she's getting a new employee, who is the twin of the captor she fell in love with, though she doesn't know this immediately. She only knows she's attracted to him. He is there to try to expose the corporation's seedier side -- the corporation takes part in many activities that the regular folk would find distasteful if they knew. And Shannon is a sympathizer of the resistance because of her abduction, but she must walk a fine line or be found out.
And along the way, both her former captor, Tristan, and his twin, Pryor, fall in love with Shannon and vice versa. And Shannon finds her own strength along the way.
I liked the chemistry between the three. I liked how protective Tristan was of her and how Pryor was more willing to let her make her own decisions and take her own chances. And I liked how she stood up to them. I'm wondering if there will be a follow-up since Mariana was not killed. Plus the end opened up the possibility of more story. It was a very interesting futuristic story.
I marked this one as having minor editing issues. There were a few words misused, as well as one place where a name was not changed. (I presume Pryor was Paxton at some point... either that, or there was an extra guy in one scene who didn't exist anywhere else!) Most of the issues looked like maybe something was edited, but a verb tense wasn't changed to go along with the rewrite. They weren't huge mistakes, but distracting to me.
Wow! This is the kind of book that I love! I know I will have to reread it very soon and I will be looking out for anything else the authors has it, because I can just imagine how good it must be!

Impressions and Opinion
Ms. Turner's futuristic world was very creative and realistic. She uses today's concerns and spin them into a possibility for the future and how horrible these prospects could be.
I was touched by her heroine's journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Thieves disguised as saviors, they'd robbed her of even her most basic humanity. But maybe she could salvage her sense of self with the clarity of how she felt, no matter the loss.
The heat in this book was of-charts!
All three main characters were superb and the plot amazing!
If I have something to complain, is that I really hope Ms. Turner is writing the second book, because at the end, she left us hanging wanting more!
If you like steamy futuristic suspense with two alpha-males and a kick-ass heroine, you should read this book!
I received this book to give an honest review. I really wanted to give this book a higher rating, but for me it fell flat. The sex scenes were great, but I feel as though the book was more about sex than the main story line that was incorporated. You have the world taken in the future pretty much like it states in the blurb post apocalyptic. Though I really didn't get that feel of that. But you have your main people who live high and mighty that have credits which I take it as they use that to buy stuff. It was never really clear. Eaglecorp owns everything and pretty much everyone and there is a resistance that wants their time to end. Hence our two hot character Tristan and Pryro. So Shannon meets the twins eventually in the story and it takes off from there. They want Shannon to help them with their resistance. Which at first she isn't sure about because all her feelings from meeting Tristan comes into play from so long ago! A few pages into the story you learn all about how Tristan and Shannon met. I would have wanted more of the story line with Shannon and the twins trying to bring down Eaglecorp instead of all the sex. Shannon learns a huge secret about herself that is a wow moment. It is amazing how Eaglecorp has used DNA! Tristan and Pryro are strong characters that are like night and day, but not only is their main focus on bringing down Eaglecorp it is also to protect and have Shannon for themselves. But can Shannon love both men? Or is her heart set for Tristan only? Overall a decent story, just be prepared for a lot of sex scenes and not too much of the main story where it involves Eaglecorp.
Wow, this book kind of blew my mind! I don’t usually read futuristic type books, but I received this copy in exchange of an honest review. I found myself completely infatuated with this world. Alyssa Turner does a great job combining suspense, excitement, emotion, and great sex into this future world.
I was literally glued to my Kindle while reading this book, I ran on no sleep, I forgot there were house chores to do and my family ordered in pizza for dinner because I couldn’t put it away.
Shannon is one kick-ass heroine; I love her attitude and the chemistry with the men. Oh Tristan and Pryor (fans self)…wow. Shannon, if you find you can’t handle them both feel free to send Pryor to me (or you could let me borrow them both)! The twins play off and complement each other so well, and they are smart and witty, the perfect combinations, and the sex is cold shower worthy. I loved the little shocking bits of information revealed that had me sucking in air throughout the book. Well Done!
I will warn you about the ending---I kept pushing the page turner button and saying “no, no, no that cannot be the end.” Ms. Turner- there better be another book! Oh and keep me in mind for reviewing (smiling and batting my eyelashes) PLEASE! #NomNom!
Alyssa Turner's Double Take was nothing short of amazing. Although I am not normally drawn to the post apocalyptic genre, this romance was well set in this era. The author did an amazing job building the world so that it was understandable and made sense. The chemistry between the twins (Tristan and Pryor) and Shannon was HOT, explosive even. I love Alyssa Turner's work and highly recommend this novel even if the setting is not your normal choice. I know I was drawn into the story with lightening speed and am sure others will be as well. I look forward to reading everything else this author writes. I can't get enough.
This story was riveting. It shows what happen when large Corporate companies get greedy and think they know better than the masses. The main MFM entities of the story was good too. The ending. I don’t know if I would call it a cliff hanger or not. Maybe other readers will feel differently. Enjoy.
