Thierry appears to genuinely care about Tori, until his brother shows up hinting towards a relationship that can never be. What is the big secret?
Determined to find the truth, Tori will find herself torn between two very different but gorgeous vampires...
The Thirst Within is tailored for a young adult audience and contains language, mild violence, and sexual situations, not recommended for readers under the age of 17.

When I started this I was not sure what to expect. I am so happy I read this! I love vampires and though these are a little low key at the moment I have no doubt things are going to heat up both with blood and romance.
The basics: Tori is a seventeen year old orphan who has been shipped off to New Orleans to live with an uncle she does not know and his family. She meets a man, Thierry, who says he wants to be her friend and starts a relationship with him. While at his place she meets his brother, Corben, who seems to take an instant dislike to her, or so she thinks, and asks that she leave. But things are not the way they seem to Tori and she wants to know what secrets are being hidden from her. When she finds out things get very interesting.
Meet the cast: Tori is like most teenagers, her self-esteem is not the greatest because she has had a rough time. She is smart, funny, pretty, interesting and does not realize it. We would have been the best of friends. Thierry is a gorgeous man who initially says he is 21 years old and captivates Tori by always being around to help her. He has not been completely honest with Tori about so many things, but very honest about others. He has an agenda. Corben is said to be Thierry's brother and is more introverted though as handsome or more so than Thierry. He has very deep and personal reasons for the way he acts toward Tori.
Their is a love triangle emerging and it is going to be so much fun to see how it is resolved. Did I forget to mention that both Corben and Thierry are vampires? Well they are and that always means excitement when a woman is involved.
I loved this first entry and cannot wait for the next. I always have hated "to be continued" because it means I can't just stay immersed in the world I have entered. I would say if you like romance and vampires, this is a book for you. I couldn't put it down once I started.
Just when I thought the vampire genre had reached it's limit, along comes this gem. This is a page-turner, from start to finish. The main character, with her effortless and vivid style of narration, is so smart-alecky and funny, so totally down-to-earth, I couldn't help but be entranced. This is a story so rich with mystery, so replete with romance and danger, that I eagerly await the next installment with a sickening thirst not unlike...well, you get the idea.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP)
I was quite sure I would need to give this book 2 stars or less when I was halfway through with it because nothing seemed to happen. I spent so much of the book reading through day-to-day occurrences, that meeting Thierry was the greatest thing that occurred for the main character, and even the climax of what that amounted to—once she found out what he was—was rather disappointing.
Despite the fact that she believes in the paranormal, I’d expect a little getting used to the idea that her boyfriend is a vampire. Other, of course, than the natural distaste that us “mundane” human beings would feel at the fact that a creature would murder another person for X reason.
That aside, I did love the cliffhanger—I’m a huge fan of cliffhangers—but I couldn’t give the book more than 3 stars because it took so long to get to Corben, whom I really liked. And I did see a few grammatical errors in the book that bothered me a bit. Plus, as stated above, so much of the story was a little stagnant.
Nonetheless, the end of the novel did hook me, and I am looking forward to the next one.
I’m a sucker for a tale of reincarnation, especially if there is a romance involved.
wish I could give it 4 1/2stars....it started off and ended great I was totally hooked in the middle of the story...so far I think its a great vampire love story that has a great reincarnation twist to it, and a love that Tori has to overcome she's in love with Theirry then Corben comes along. and kinda ruins then she ruins it.....all just to find out that she was Corbens wife before she died....I'm really looking forward to find out if she is still with Theirry and what about her relationship with her the Harrises lol....so looking forward to the rest of this story ;). was written really well....had me interested from the start!
Woow, this was strange read. Nice in first, but then came the weird part...nevermind,ya'll see for yourself! It's been a while since I read some vampire novel,so this was refreshing read. In some parts I had feeling that I'm reading Twillight all over again. Even heroine was Bella kind of annoying. Buahaha..."why poor me" kind of annoying :/ Hero or I can say heroes, since there are two of them, were nice, but for some strange reason I didn't root for any of them to get the girl...they were kind of shallow written. Read it and see what I'm talking about... Stlll, all in all, nice 3.5 stars read!
The Thirst Within is an enjoyable feast! It is a vampire novel written deliciously by Johi Jenkins. Tantalizing description of the female lead character, Tori, and events in her life, prepare readers to welcome first one vampire, then another. Tori is lifelike-loveable, she springs from the pages and doesn’t seem as though she is merely a book character at all. The carefully-conjured triangle between Tori, Thierry and Corben is captivating and readers will be desperately left hanging at the end in want/need of the next book. I look forward to devouring the much-anticipated sequel.
So after finally reaching this book on my the list I read it. Unlike many others I am not afraid to give my honest to God opinions and about something and the only way she can know I really read it would b to give this detailed review.
Okay lets start with why I gave it four stars and not five. Well, honestly it's because it didn't give a strong enough problem. I loved the relationship between Thierry and Tori. I love how it was portrayed but there was no major plot to solve. Their was no unique background story for Corben or Thierry that made this book stand out. Be that as it may what did seem to stand out for me was Tori's attitude.
Tori is a orphaned 17 year old and the way she broke into Thierry's house and searched through her stuff when he was supposed to be gone and found out that only was he still here but he was a vampire. That little piece of information that was so obviously clear after she seen him on the rooftop drinking from another man until he was dead. Her reaction really surprised me. When she saw him drinking from another man that night on the rooftop she was all 'Oh your a vampire COOL, I have no problems with that.' Then tries to kiss him later after watching him feed off of another man. Afterwards she asks if he kills people which he replies that he does but only after he read their mind and thinks that he's doing humanity a favor. She's all 'cool you kill people but it's okay because you can read their minds and see if they deserve to die like some all powerful judging vigilante.' But when he says that he drinks from animals when ever he's desperate she shit a brick. Now that's weird.
This book was given four from me because I see the potential but it's locked in there somewhere. I actually predicted the 'twist' at the end. I really predicted that from the beginning when she meet with Corben and he acted like a polite prick. Never let your book become predictable because avid readers(much like myself) can smell originality from miles away and repeated things from even farther. Don't allow your book to become that cliche. That 'twist' I actually read that in a lot of other books. They both don't really have a great background story to make it stand out and the family (The uncle, June, Jack, Fiona and her aunt from he father's Sid who husband died) I have found out actually agitate more they should.
I don't like June or Fiona, the uncle makes me mad, her aunt from her father side makes me even madder( Tori loves her uncle but she just had to go sticking her nose where it didn't belong, my grandmother has a saying ' Shit stinks so don't stir it' it. I would've happily reminded her she kicked ME out and I would've told her of that night her husband felt like snuggling) and Jack could've been a dog and the storyline wouldn't have changed because he mattered just that much.
If you're into romantic and sexy vamps with Paranormal Romance cliches then this is your book but I like for my book to stand out a little more.
I want to thank Loves of Paranormal (LoP) and Johi Jenkinsfor the opportunity to read and review The Thirst Within. I was drawn to read this book as it takes place in NOLA which is by far my favorite place in the whole world. I thought that Tori was a brilliantly funny character and has basically rolled with the punches that life has thrown at her being orphaned at 4-years of age and then living with her elderly grandparents for the next 10 years of her life. She is witty but still vulnerable as one would expect being basically raised by your grandparents in small town Iowa. She moves in with her last remaining relative, that will have her, in New Orleans and meets Thierry. She discovers that Thierry is a vampire who she is drawn to but he is holding back his feelings for Tori due to some link for the mysterious Corben. Tori is in love with Thierry but is drawn to Corben and at 17-years of age that is a lot to deal with. I loved the story but hate cliffhangers and that is where this story left us. I can't wait for Johi Jenkinsto continue this story. I have a checklist of items that need to be answered and am hoping that all (okay will settle for some) of my questions to be answered. My only gripe so far is I realize that the story revolves around Tori but love when authors give the reader a visual tour of their surroundings. New Orleans is such a magical place and felt that names and locations of key tourist spots were just obligatorily thrown in for the reader as a side note. I would have loved to seen a bit more of NOLA thru Tori's eyes having been raised in small towns and then thrown into an environment that is totally different from what she has been used to I feel would have added to the whole feel of the story (in my opinion). Again - thank you for this opportunity and waiting anxiously for Part 2! Jeanne
My first book from this author and a delight! If you are a fan of Vampire Diaries or Twilight style books than this will surely appeal. It's a. paranormal romance that's aimed at young adults but a good story appeals to every age. This book is written in first person and tracks Tori Green as she starts a new life . She has had more than her fair share of nasty knocks as she was orphaned at an early age. She went to live with her grandmother but upon her death moved in with her aunt but unfortunately her husband viewed Tori as more than just a niece! His sudden and suspicious death means that yet again Tori has to move and now at seventeen she arrives in New Orleans to live with her uncle and his family. Feeling a little disconnected from her new family Tori meets a gorgeous guy called Thierry who seems fascinated by her. They tentatively begin a relationship but unfortunately Thierry has dark secrets and his hot brother is just one of those. Toris perfect man may be anything but ! I really enjoyed this story in spite of feeling in the beginning that I needed a bit more action. The heroine Tori is written with wit and getting her pithy views about her family and others made her quite an engaging character. The two brothers could have made it feel too much of a triangle but the author manages to keep them separate which gives the reader chance to get to know them. The second half of the book pulls you in and although some questions are answered the reader is still kept guessing. The character Tori surprised me as I felt at times she didn't appreciate the danger she was in. She seems almost blasé about it and I found that unsettling but as the tale unravelled I felt I had gained more understanding. This is a story that will engage a readers interest and has an ending that will make you shout "no"! Definitely a cliffhanger I struggle to rate this as I loved the twists at the end , found the standard of writing to be excellent but it did take sometime for things to really happen. For those reasons a rate this a 4 and a half
Wow is all i can say right now. When i first started reading this book i thought it was a 3 star book it was slow to begin with but enjoyable still then as i progressed by time i was half way through i was super hooked and couldn't put the book down and was thinking oh yeah this for sure worth 4 stars and now iv'e finished iv'e had to give it a full 5 stars. I cant wait for the next book and the story to continue.
Jenkins really brings the characters alive in this fantastic book. Tori is a lovable, likable young lady and totally believable character. She is very easy to relate to and easy to picture in your minds eye. Thierry is sexy and dangerous and very sweet but personally i prefer Corben i think Thierry has held too many secrets from Tori though my mind could change in the next book when we discover more. Corben is seriously sexy and mysterious and something about his severe personality hooks you in and you want to know more. Al the main characters in this book are easy to know and understand and its great giving the reader a real chance to bond with the characters and really bring the story to life.
The book is written in first person a style i personally love and feel more comfortable with as the reader can personally feel Tori, thoughts feelings and emotions.
I highly recommend this book to any Y/A paranormal fans and especially those who love my blood approves or similar books. I was taking a break from the whole vampire book thing for a while but this story is totally refreshing and given me my vampire bug back and really cant wait for the 2nd book what a cliff hanger ending :D :D
Words cannot describe how much I loved this book but I will try to do it justice with this review. First off I would like to say that It's not too often that a book really speaks to me as a reader and really has me invested in each character the way this book has. I was drawn in and engrossed from the very beginning, I couldn't stand putting this book down for 5 minutes at a time. I just had to know what was going to happen next and I wasn't disappointed in the least. I would have to say Tori was my favorite character in this story, she had such a hard life and you couldn't help but to root for her throughout the book and want to see her happy. Thierry and Corbin had a strange relationship in my opinion and I say this because Corbin would tell Thierry to stay away from Torri and he would, this is the only thing that didn't sit well with me, Because Thierry says he loves Torri and you would think he would want to be with her regardless of what Corbin thinks. I don't want to give too much away but I will say the ending was the best part of this book for me, talk about a cliffhanger AMAZING!!!! All in all this is a great book and I can't wait for the next installment. I received this book in exchange for a honest review from the author and LOP. Thank you!!!!
Let me be honest, I didn't finish this. I got to 68% and couldn't make myself read further. The MC Tori, or Tor as was her cutie pet nickname, was unbelievably stupid. At first I thought maybe this was a fan fiction for Twilight but I don't even think Bella was this pathetic. Thierry is a vampire as Tori discovers after breaking into his apartment while he's supposed to be out of town. Why did she break into his apartment? So she could sit on his couch?!? Anyway, she ends up snooping & catches his drinking from & killing some guy. 5 minutes later instead of being freaked out, she's wants Thierry to kiss her. WTF?!? At least have him brush his teeth first. Then she wants to know if vampires use the toilet.... Who fucking cares?!? He just killed someone in front of you, fucking Twit!! Then at dinner after he tells her he kills a lot of people by drinking them dry she asks if he's fed from animals. She actually gets upset because he has. Hold the hell on!! Your upset if a squirrel dies but not a damn human?!?! This is when I had to call it quits on this sham of a book. Not to mention that they love each other after 4 days. Ummm, no..... Just no!!
I loved this book. It was one of the best books I've ever read. The characters we're fabulous, interesting, and very well like-able. I lllooovvveee both Corben and Thierry but I would say I like Corben more. He seems more interesting and so damaged it makes you want to cry, feel sorry for him, or hold him to maybe take his pain away. Thierry is great I like him but if he really loves Tori he wouldn't listen to Corben and stay away from her no matter what Corben says. I'm DYING for book 2. I need to know what happens next. The ending was great but like I say in a lot of other books like this, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!!! The ending was shocking I never expected it I actually thought she was reincarnated of Charlotte or maybe related to her somewhere in her blood line so that she seems like her? I don't know. But I can't wait for book 2 this book was really awesome and nothing like I've ever read!!!
I really enjoyed this story. It felt like Johi was giving us the background story to carry us through the next book in this series so that we can enjoy the continued story with a complete understanding. Although there were some grammatical and spelling errors, they did not detract from the story for me. I do wonder a little about Thierry's background because I didn't feel that I got a complete understanding of where he was coming from.
I like Tori and Corben. I felt that Thierry was holding back a lot of secrets from Tori which led me to not trust him or his intentions. I'm wondering if this means that in the future there will be a show down between Thierry and his maker for Tori's affections. Although, considering the revelations in the end of the 1st book, I doubt that Thierry stands a chance - which secretly makes me happy.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review by the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com I fantastic read. The story was a bit slow at first, but I was quickly drawn in and became absolutely engrossed in this book until the very end. A love triangle, sexy Vampires, romance and danger ... this book has it all. The characters are brilliant and very well defined. The writing is rich, descriptive and flows effortlessly. My only complaint is that the book ends with a ‘cliffhanger’ which will leave you hungry for the next book in this promising series. A wonderful read that I enjoyed immensely. Thanks goes to the Author and Carrie ( the LOP Book Fairy ) for allowing me the oppertunity to read this book.
It was awsome!!! It's been a long time since I read such a good book about vampires. No not a good book...An excellent book.I was giggling all the time and I had a huge smile on my face. It really made my day. I do have to admitt though that I skipped some pages but it was that I just couldn't wait anymore. I had to know the end. I saw it coming but still the book is excellent. And it was free!! I can't wait for the second!!!
This was just awful. The main character is annoying with all her self depreciation and crazy behavior. She has zero depth. There's no plot line to this book. I picked it up because there were so many 4 and 5 star reviews. Now I'm wondering if these people actually read the book. I think the vampire characters are ok but still there's not a lot there. This ends on a cliffhanger and Im not fan. I dont care what happens in the next book.
I normally don't read within this genre, so I was pleasantly surprised about how much I liked The Thirst Within. Characters are well developed and likable, which is more than I can say about other novels in teen vampire books. The plot is also unpredictable, in a good way. I also think overall, the writing is great and easy to read.
I loved this book!!! There were so many things that kept me interested in it. Towards the ending I couldn't put it down! I was so intrigued and the romance in the book was perfect for new adults. The only downside was the cliffhanger, but I will be waiting for the sequel not so patiently!
Beautiful cover. Intriguing title. Interesting plot. I was initially intrigued by this book, and the fact that it received generally favorable review helped. So of course, I ended up picking this book. Sadly, I this book didn't work for me. I love vampire romance so I'm really upset it didn't work for me.
SPOILERS AHEAD.
One of the reasons why I'm disappointed with this book is that nothing happened. Quite literally. Nothing really happened, until the last few chapters. I was really close to DNF'ing this book 'cause even when I was halfway through the book, nothing significant happened! I found myself yawning, searching for some little vamp action. What I got were endless passages of Tori, describing how her day went, her lame ass friends, lame ass family. She basically summarized everything that happened in every fucking chapters and that's it. No action whatsoever. We don't actually get to see first-hand how anything happened. Reading her describing her days/weeks was like fast-forwarding a movie. And it got boring after a while. I kept on waiting for something to happen. But alas, nothing.
Tori's also one of the most immature female leads I've ever read. She's so annoying. She's seventeen going eighteen but acted like a twelve year old. She's practically my age but in what universe does a seventeen year old act the way she does? One of the things that surprised me the most was the premature love declaration between her and Thierry. For god's sake, you only hung out with him twice and now you're in love with him? Are you kidding me? That's so stupid I wanted to rip my hair off. Sure, he bought you a smartphone, bought you food and all but you hung out with him like, twice...
Secondly, their first meeting was also fucking ridiculous and there's also this moment when she was looking at Thierry's pretty skin and she was like, "he doesn't have wrinkles.." Um hello he's 21 why would he have wrinkles. Gurl.
There were parts in the book where I questioned Tori's sanity. Thierry basically admitted to stalking her for weeks / months (I don't remember) but did freak out? NO. Instead, she was worried that Thierry might have seen her kissing with her co-worker / schoolmate... I was so appalled. If I were her, I would run. Run. AS FAST AS I CAN FOR HIM. WHILE I STILL CAN.
She also broke into Thierry's house because she apparently missed him. How stupid is that? There's this thing called a cellphone, dumbass. And you do have one? Thierry bought one for you, remember?
When she first witnessed Thierry feeding from a guy, she ultimately concluded he was a vampire. And I was suprised because I expected her to freak out like a normal person would? But she didn't because she'd always believed he was different and she believed in the supernatural/paranormal stuff. Whatever. Okay. BUT THEN, when Thierry told her that they are people out there who could contact spirit, her jaw was hanging, which contradicted what she said earlier when she said that she believed in the paranormal/supernatural. Oh and did I mention that right after she saw Thierry feeding, she demanded a kiss.... from him. Girl! ARE YOU CRAZY.
I'm not sure if I will be reading the second book. The cliffhanger got me curious though. We'll see!
I got the e-book free in exchange for a honest review(Lovers of Paranormal).
The review may contain spoilers.
Rating 9 of 10
I really loved that book. We have Tori, a 17-years-old modern Cinderella and two hot vampires.
First I will start with the only problem I have with the book and it's the synopsis: "Determined to find the truth, Tori will find herself torn between two very different but gorgeous vampires..." That sentence sorts of spoils the fun a bit as it hints for love triange and in the book we actually didn't see Tori develop any kind of attraction for Corbin till the last 20 pages or so. Would have been great if I haven't been expecting it.
Now about Tori. I admit that she may become one of my favorite female main characters. She is smart, she is fun and I really loved the fact that she didn't get depressed over Thierry leaving and at least tryed to move on and give John a chance. It's not that it worked out but she at least took a chance. The sneaking in Thierry's home thought was a bit too daring.
I don't have much to say about Thierry - he is the perfect boyfriend - sweet, caring, just perfect, except that he is a vampire. :) Or maybe that makes him even more perfect. And if in the synopis is mentioned Tori beeing torn between the two(mentioned above), in this book I think Thierry is the one who is most torn, not her.
And finally I will have to admit that Corbin sort of grew on me. I know that we didn't really saw much of him in that book but I still somehow managed to fell for him. I wonder if he was the one to save Tori from the fire....
One last confesion - I hate cliffhangers, they make me bite my nail in anticipation for the next book. I really hope we will get to see it published soon.

Description: Tori is a seventeen year old girl who's about to uncover a big secret. Orphaned and shipped off to live with her uncle Roland in New Orleans, she soon finds herself in love and in over her head with vampire Thierry. Complications soon arise when his brother takes an instant dislike to Tori and their budding relationship. What's his big secret and what does he have against Tori?
My thoughts: "The Thirst Within" is a pleasure to read. While not as fast paced as some other vampire books, the author here takes her time to develop her characters beyond two-dimensional beings and actually makes you root for them. I felt that Tori's back story was very necessary in the first part of the book in order to set the scene and develop her character for the rest of the series. While on the surface she appears to not have grown that much as a result of her experiences (other posters here complained she was still too childish in her behaviour) I think she actually is very well represented. Through her inner dialogue, Tori is revealed: she feels insecure in her life and in herself, is distrustful of her new family and friends, all as a result of her harrowing previous experiences as an orphan. Her need to quickly latch onto new friend Thierry as her saviour is even more poignant in these circumstances. Tori is a young girl with no discernible love in her life, having twice lost her closest family. There is no insta-love here between Tori and Thierry, it is just a young girl desperately needing love from someone and a person to care for her.
Having set the scene for the characters and their relationship, the book picks up pace fast in the second half. Tori's world is shaken to the core after discovering Thierry's secret. Still in shock, she clings onto her new love and is quick to adapt. But then why does Corben still hate her and how will this affect her relationship with Thierry? The tension between Tori an Corben builds up to a massive cliff-hanger. I won't reveal any spoilers but the end of the book left me hanging. Just like Tori I'm left speechless and desperate to know more!
Please hurry and write the next book Johi Jenkins! :)
I found out about this book through Face Book. The description peaked my interest so I thought I’d give it a try and am really glad I did!
The book starts by explaining how Tori (the main character) became an orphan but in that explanation there is also a mystery from that day that she cannot figure out (but she is also wondering if she just made this piece up too). This mystery is hinted at throughout the book but never fully explained, leaving you wondering how is this going to turn out. It is great to get bits and pieces to try to put the puzzle together.
This book definitely kept me interested from start to finish and wanting to solve the mystery that Tori herself is still trying to solve.
If you are a fan of the first Twilight book, you will like this. There were some parts that I could directly match up to Twilight. I was a little worried that the book would end up following the Twilight story until the end but it veered off sharply. Leaving me with another mystery and dying for the next book. There were some twists that you can see coming but I don’t think it was the intent to surprise the reader where some of the situations were heading.
Tori is the main character in the book. She has been through a lot and still keeps a positive but realistic attitude towards life instead of feeling sorry for herself. She continues to pick herself up when things go wrong. This keeps the story interesting and made the reader guess how she would react to the different situations she was faced with.
There are a few surprises in this book that are explained just enough so you know what is going on but there is enough information left out to keep you guessing and ready for book two.
The ending sets up book two nicely. I actually emailed the author to find out when the next book was coming out because I am really excited to find out where this is going.
Title and cover art: 4 stars Main Characters: 3.5 stars Plot 3.5 stars Overall: 3.5 stars
I received a R2R copy of The Thirst Within (Book 1) from the author. I don't usually read YA books anymore but I liked the excerpt and decided to give it a chance.
While I like the main characters and some of the supporting characters and the idea of the storyline, I found the writing to be a bit choppy. Not that every single thing has to be described to the nth degree but a little more detail would fill out the characters and surroundings, giving the reader more to imagine, more to grab onto. The first person style isn't really a problem for me. It can be enlightening to be inside the head of the main character. However, I found that being inside the mind of a 17 yo girl was often frustrating and irritating. Having said that, with the heroine being a 17 yo girl, the inner dialog seemed pretty typical and age appropriate.
I was a bit surprised to realize this is the first book in a series. Yes, it had a cliffhanger ending! Ugh! I guess I'll have to get Book 2 when it's released to find out what happens in this all of a sudden near the end of the book love triangle/revelation/cliffhanger.
Overall I'd say it was a good book but I hope the writing improves a bit. All writers should strive to improve their work and let it evolve, no matter how many books they've written. I look forward to Book 2.
I've had this e-book on my kindle for so long I had forgotten what it was about by the time I got around to reading it. Frankly, this book suffered a combination of bad timing on my part and a bad story on the authors part. I've read quite a few paranormal YA books by now. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the genre, who knows? But I can't stand it anymore when a book begins with a MC telling her sob-story. Poor me this, poor me that but there's this one strange thing that has happened to me that you know will come back to haunt me.
Additionally, this story was just boring. I'd read over half of the book and it was just so boring I couldn't really motivate myself to continue. In my head, Tori's voice was just a monotone rambling.
I also believe that this story is absolutely nothing special. I truly wondered if this was just a Fan Fiction for Twilight for a shockingly long amount of time. And I don't think it's even necessary to mention what a trainwreck Twilight was/is.
I also absolutely hate it when the protagonist is suddenly confronted with paranormal beings and is just cool with it. That's NOT believable. Even if you daydream about the paranormal and want to believe it, finding out that vampires exist should freak you out at least a bit!!! And then Tori proved that she was without a doubt one of the stupidest people alive when, after finding out that Thierry was a vampire and basically saw him murder a guy she wants him to kiss her and asks him if he was to poop. Ugh no thank you.
Would like to thank the author and LOP for gifting me this book for a honest review
We meet Tori a seventeen year old girl, who goes to live with her Uncle in New Orleans after the death of her grandparents. Tori has never met her uncle and his family. She has to start a new school and make new friends. One day while at the mall she meets the handsome Thierry and they hit it off and start to hangout. Tori really likes Thierry and he seems to like her too. She also meets Thierry's brother Corbin, who seems to dislike her and is very cold towards her. Thierry and Corbins relationships seems a little off to Tori, and they seem to be hiding something. Finally we find out that they are vampires!
Tori, has it really hard, loosing both parents and grandparents, being all alone and having to move with a family she has never met, where she has to adjust. I really enjoyed this book, I love books with Vampires! I really like Thierry and Tori together! I dont know about Corbin, I have mixed feelings about him. I'm sorry but I hate love triangles! Also Tori was just to calm when she finds out they are vampires, like she didnt freak out not even a little. I felt like too many things were left unanswered. Need to read the next one. The ending was good, theres no way you cannot read the next one!. Thanks again!!
I loved this book. It started off a little slow for me and I didn't feel like I was going to enjoy it as much. But by the time I reached the end I knew I had to give it a five star rating. The character of Tori was exceptionally well written and she was easy to relate to. That being said Thierry and Corben could have been better written. There is not much of their background written into the book and so therefore they are not as easy to relate with as Tori.
That being said, the book has twists, turns and a delicious reincarnation plot that I absolutely love. There could be more action within the plot between bringing out the vampires more into the story. I don't have enough of a background at this point on either of the heroes to route for one to win her attention. So I guess I will have to wait to see what happens in the next books.
I am glad I read this book because I've been itching to read a good vampire book recently and this filled the need for me. It does have some similarities to the Twilight series though and I wasn't really a fan of that series. I am a fan so far of this series.
I received this book at the Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group for free in exchange for a fair and honest review
I must admit I am on the fence with this one and my finger has been doubting between giving it 3 or 4 stars.
4 because the author sounds promising and I always tend to cheer for self publishing authors and 3 because even if I like it and the cliffhanger was promising I can't decide whether I am interested enough to read the second book.
The thing is that this book felt like a preamble where we are introduced to the characters but the lack of drama or action had me losing interest chapter after chapter. I kept of thinking something major was going to happen but I got stuck so long with HS life and a sweet drama free relationship (neither Corven nor the killings were treated as something major) that I found myself missing something " more ".
The cliffhanger was actually interesting, but a book must me really good to keep me waiting impatiently for the second one or I will forget about it. And unfortunately this book falls in the category of books that was a good read, but forgotten after a week or so.
