Lev Grigorievich Vlasov (Russian: Лев Григорьевич Власов) Soviet chemist and science popularizer, candidate of chemical sciences.

Born in 1932, studied at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow University, and in 1963 became a candidate of sciences.

The book "Born Again", published by the publishing house "Knowledge" in 1962, is the first fruit of the co-authorship of Dmitry Nikolaevich Trifonov and Lev Grigorievich Vlasov. A year later, the "Young Guard" published the collection "Journey to the Land of the Elements", the compilers and authors of which they were.

Oh, how I love these science books from the erstwhile Soviet Union. Available at dirt-cheap prices, they explained science in very engaging way. This book went a long way in making me interested in Chemistry, a subject which I didn't love very much (I went on to become a chemical engineer, BTW).

It is filled with short pieces, detailing the history of chemistry and its various breakthroughs, peppered with cute drawings. Perfect book for a teen interested in science!
