“Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to.”
How do you live with yourself when you are the reason you lost the one thing that meant the most to you.
Timing is everything and for Reed, he can never seem to catch a break. When Reed returns to Boston to redeem himself he finds that Elle has already moved on, building a new life, a new beginning. He needs her to know that he meant every word before he left, that he never meant to leave her. Will he ever get that chance to tell her?
How do you love again when the one person who made you feel like you were his whole world left you with a broken heart? Hoping that life and new friends could keep her memories and feelings for Reed at bay, Elle chases life and all that it has to offer until she is confronted with heartbreak again.
Is time and space enough to get past losing your once in a lifetime or will Elle be always Wanting Reed?
Antoinette Candela is most likely listening to music at a very high volume right now and pondering her next book. She grew up in Upstate New York and is an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. As a child, she enjoyed reading and writing and penned her first story at the age of thirteen. She drives fast, is a neat freak, loves red wine, Scrabble and can't live without her iced coffee and a good pen.
Currently she lives in Massachusetts with her son and daughter in her neat and tidy home. When she's not planted in front of her computer writing, she can be found at the gym or at the beach soaking up the rays and enjoying a good book.
I'm a romance reader at heart. I'm a sucker for anything that has even a hint of a love story in it. This book here... I think its romance? There's 'romance' in it, but mostly there was lust wrapped around drama. It carries on from the first book and keeps on rolling.
Elle is CONFUSED. She's left hanging when Reed doesn't return from Texas like he was supposed to. So after a while she transfers her feelings to Tyler, her best friend who has so obviously been in love with her since for-effing-ever. He's always been there for her, and would do anything for her. I mean literally anything. I actually felt bad for the boy because you know she's just using him to fill a void.
Then there's Reed. He's also confused. A bunch of shit of his own making goes down on his visit back home to Texas. So instead of maybe going directly back to Elle ASAP, he decides to recoup in Texas. Because that's what you do when the person you love is left hanging. But don't worry, he's got a plan to go get her back... because she's totally going to take him back with open arms.
Let's just say that their reunion is kept at bay for a while due to outside influences. And when they finally come face to face, it ain't pretty. Reed has a lot to make up for. And I'll say this, Elle makes him work for it.
There are a lot of side characters that I wished would go away.
Sierra
Mindy
Cane
All in all, this book was a rollercoaster full of draaaaaama. And it was drama for drama's sake. I swear, every time a character made a move it came back to bite them on the butt... or was simply there to add another layer of wtf. And the author needs to work on not contradicting her writing. There are things that happen in the book that are dismissed like it didn't happen, when it totally did. For all the Reed is telling Elle that he hasn't even thought about another girl since they've been apart, we the reader know otherwise. In his mind he even thinks this is true. But I'm pretty sure I read a few scenes that had Reed doing more than just thinking about another girl. It just frustrated me that the author completely negated scenes that she wrote.
I think this could have been a better book if it was heavily edited. There was just too much going on. A lot could have been taken out, and I would have believed the HEA much more. But truly, I did enjoy the fact that this was a book where I didn't have to use my brain.
4 out of 5 Fustrating, Passion-filled, I Want Reed Stars!
Oh my effing God! This book was a torturous, hair ripping, build up tease, that drove me to the brink of madness. Wanting Reed is the continuation of the Breaking Me Series. I was left on the edge of my seat from the first book, Breaking Elle. We were left wondering if Reed was going to wait it out inTexas to recuperate, or was he going to rush back to Elle in order to fix the damage he had caused by all his secrets and past screw ups. Elle was left a broken mess after Reed didn't return to Boston, which was the perfect opportunity for all the side-lined guys in her life to swoop in to fill the void left behind. However, they were just mere vultures picking at the scarps left behind of her shattered heart. Reed was not easily replaced, and the memories of him were far to difficult to erase. I could not begin to imagine what Reed would need to do in order to win her back...if it's even possible at all? This brought on a fair amount of fist pounding and unlady like grunting from all the frustration!
"I can't shake her smell, the feel of her hair, the warmth of her body, or the taste of her lips. She's all I've been thinking about and all that I've been missing. My heart is trapped in my ribcage, and she's the only one who can set it free. She trusted me not to hurt or destroy her. I never meant to, but I did." -Reed
There were many levels of frustration I felt from this book, it wasn't just one thing, but many different things that just kept mounting to unbearable proportions. All of the heart ache felt from the characters could have been prevented if things were done differently. If Reed would have just told her the truth from the beginning, then they wouldn't have been in that mess. The book starts off with Reed's months of rehabilitation from his attack. He is desperate to go back to Boston to fight to win Elle back. When he finally goes back he is met with what he dreaded would happen while he was away. It appeared that Elle had moved on and was happy, so he unwillingly stepped away to regroup and figure out what he was going to do. He tried to focus on school and getting back to football. You can feel his intense agony from losing her, and his overwhelming need to get her back. Elle is woven in every fiber of Reed's being, and the confusion is driving him to the brink. Other women are just a painful reminder of everything he wanted with Elle, but couldn't have.
"I want to see her so badly. I only need one chance with her and it hurts so damn bad just thinking about it. If I have to see her in pain one more time just so I can pour out my heart to her, I will. I know it's selfish, but she needs to hear it so she can see that I mean every word I say and that I'm not this asshole that I left her high and dry." -Reed
While Reed tries and fails to reconnect with Elle, she is desperate for a distraction to help rid the thoughts and feelings that Reed still provokes in her. Elle continues to struggle with her erratic emotions that keep bouncing uncontrollably between Reed, Tyler, and Cane. To say that things in Elle's life become messy, is the understatement of the year. Despite all her misguided attempts to redirect her emotions away from Reed, she can't change what her heart wants...and even after all he has done, she still can't help wanting Reed.
"It's all but over. He's locked in my brain now, and I can't let him escape. I don't want him to escape. I want him here with me, but then I don't want him at all." -Elle
I had a serious case of emotional whiplash with this book. It was pure undiluted burning torture, but I loved every second of it. The build up held such promise for an explosive reunion. I yearned for them to come together again, because their connection was undeniably deep. Every time you thought it was heading for the bright loving light, something dark was thrown in their way to cast a doubtful shadow in their path. Even though, I was an edgy and frustrated mess during this read, I couldn't help love the journey and Reed's relentless resolve. The connection they shared was unquestionably passionate, all consuming, and soul penetrating.
"Our bond is powerful, pure, and addicting. One thing is very clear; I can never get enough of this man underneath me. The way he grasps me against his body and the feel of him deep inside me, only leaves me wanting more with each passing second. I'll always want more with him. I've been broken, but he mended me. He is the man I need to love, and whom I need to love me." -Elle
There is so much heat with Elle and Reed that you can't help but feel it scorching up through each turn of the page. If you don't mind being completely frustrated and a bit angry at your book for the first half of the story, then strap yourself in and get ready to WANT Reed with a fierceness! The only thing holding that last star hostage was my complete annoyance with Elle. She drove me crazy with her indecisiveness...some of it was warranted but sometimes I wanted to jump in there and shake the crap out of her. Nonetheless...Reed was just too irresistible to stay mad. Grab yourself a glass of water because your loins will be burning. I definitely recommend this series to my fellow readers. Go catch up with Breaking Elle and fall head first into hungry lust.
Wanting Reed…..hell yes! I have been Wanting Reed since finishing Breaking Elle. Yes, this is Book 2 in a series and you must read Breaking Elle before diving in. But I totally recommend it! I loved this book for more than one reason. It gave closure to a lot of unresolved issues in Breaking Elle, had several twists and turns and was full of angst and love and wanting.
So the story picks up where we left off in Breaking Elle. Reed has extended his stay in Texas with no word to Elle. She decides she has fought a losing battle and has taken comfort in the arms of her best friend Tyler. Now, don’t get me wrong Tyler is great….but not for Elle. I found myself screaming at my kindle throughout the story wishing I could shake some sense into the both of them. I didn’t like that his idea of taking care of Elle was to keep the truth from her and not allow her to make her own choices. He clouded her thoughts with what he wanted.
I was reading like a woman on a mission. I was anxiously awaiting the reunion of Reed and Elle hoping that they could put all of their issues, reservations and past mistakes behind them and see that what they needed was each other. But as the saying goes, “All good things come to those who wait”. Well, eventually, if we don’t have a she-devil like Sierra to stir things up. She was like salt in Elle’s wounds, making her feel like she was reliving her break up with Cane all over again.
We get to catch up with Elle’s brother, Jace and her ex Cane and let’s not forget Reed’s party-go-lucky roommate, Luke. I must say there were times I laughed out loud at some of the things that came out of his mouth.
Reed and Elle’s story concludes in this book, so you get the story tied up with a nice little bow. I laughed, cried, screamed at my kindle and was sad to see it end. The author has done a great job with this series and I am looking forward to seeing what else she has up her sleeve. There has been hints that we may get Luke’s story….and boy that will be a great read! So, if you have not read this series….go 1 click it!
** Received an ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review
Wanting Reed, is amazing!! This book is much amazing than Breaking Elle. I loved it!! This book is the continuation of Breaking Elle. The way the things went, loved it!! Things are much more intense here and the events rocked my world! The way the story ended, FANTASTIC! Ms. Antoinette did an amazing job in making this book amazing, interesting and full of emotions.
So, it’s not really a secret that I was frustrated with book one, Breaking Elle, because of the love triangle/square or whatever you wanted to call it but I was really excited to start this book. I really liked Reed (for the most part-whenever he wasn’t gawking at every hot female alive *eye roll*). Anyway, that book ended with us wondering if and when he was going to go back to Boston to explain everything to Elle. We were also left with Elle in the arms of another man after Reed’s no show at the airport.
Wanting Reed picks up shortly after that. Elle is heartbroken about how things ended with Reed. She really believed he would never hurt her and that they were really something special. Well lucky for Elle (unlucky for Reed & us) she had several of her many admirers still waiting in the wings ready to pounce as soon as she was ready to open her heart again… mainly Tyler.
I really did like Tyler a lot and if it weren’t for Reed I would have really wanted Elle to be with him. He cares for Elle so much and you could tell he really did want what was best for her. But he pissed me off too in this book. He knew Elle still had feelings for Reed and yet he still scooted on in and tried to weasel his way into her heart in a “more than friendship” kind of way!
Elle has given up on Reed returning so she tries to move on…with the one man who has always been by her side. She is getting better, being able laugh and socialize again. She is seeing Tyler in a new light and is starting to wonder if maybe things could work out with him.
When Reed returns to Boston and sets his sights on Elle he is heartbroken. It appears that she has moved on with a man he knows will treat her right. She looks happy and in the end, that’s all he really wants for her so he agrees to stay away from her and let her live the new life she seems to be building.
Everyone seems to know Reed is back in town except Elle and when she finds out she is shattered. She sees him and all the amazing moments they had as well as all the hurt and anguish she went through comes crashing back down. Not only that but he is with the one woman whom she despises most and it makes her physically sick to see them together. I do my best to keep it together as I turn around to face him. Every moment we’ve experienced together, every word, and every kiss, all my memories with him crash into me.
Reed has had enough and can’t deal with the distance anymore. Despite his new friend, and the fact that Elle has moved on, Reed can’t stay away. He loves her more than anything and it makes staying away impossible. She’s destroying me. This is not fucking just falling in love; this is fucking crashing into it. Complete destruction.
I have to say that the first fifty percent of this book I wanted to scream and punch a hole through my kindle. I could not believe the choices these people where making. Tyler pissed me off, Reed made me mad because he wouldn’t freaking go after Elle and demand her to listen. And Elle drove me insane with her back and forth with all the guys involved and refusal to talk to Reed. I don’t think I was ever so annoyed by anyone ever in a book.
But then it happened.
Sweet relief.
I swear the last fifty percent of this book totally made up for all the frustration and heartache in the first part. It was amazing. It was so nice to see people finally getting their crap together and doing what should have been done months ago.
But nothing for Reed and Elle is smooth sailing. For every step they take to an HEA life seems to throw them for a loop. Regardless the intensity and passion between Elle and Reed is still there and hotter than ever. I swear I needed a cold shower after some of those scenes. “What do you want me to do?” I say, starting to kiss her lower and trailing my lips down her stomach and ending between her thighs. “Don’t stop until I’m shaking.” She can barely speak. Her legs are trembling, anticipating what I’m about to unleash on her.
I loved how much fun they had together too. They sure were an adventurous couple and even though there were a lot of lovin’ scenes they didn’t feel too repetitive.
Even with the love triangle in this book I was still happy I read this series. I definitely went through a lot of ups and downs with it but the ending was totally worth it. I loved it. The Playboy Reed and annoying Elle I started out reading about no longer existed by the end of the series. “You are my sun, baby. You are my wish, my fantasy come true. I’ll be your hope and everything you need,” I rasp, gasing into her engaging eyes.
If you don’t mind love triangles (or I guess even if you do) I would give this series a chance. You will get frustrated and irritated and I’m sure, like me, you will have times when you won’t even want to finish the book. But it’s all worth it in the end. Elle and Reed have a love that is so strong and radiant I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
On a side note: We were introduced to two new characters… Link and Piper. I have to say, I FREAKING LOVED THEM! Seriously they are so amazingly cute together. I want to squeal just thinking about them. Even though the next book is about Tyler, I would love for Link and Piper to get a book of their own.
In this follow up to Breaking Elle, Antoinette Candela has DONE IT AGAIN people! She has done it again! Sometimes sequels lose their 'spark' and are not able to capture all the emotions and beauty of the their predecessors but not with this follow up, not a chance it only got BETTER! Now if you haven't already purchased Breaking Elle on Amazon or on any other e book retailer, I suggest you do so now, as I wrote in my review for that book you need both especially if they are released already right, I mean why wait! To fully enjoy this novel, the back story is essential to grasp the poignancy of Wanting Reed. Plus it is on sale for .99 cents on Amazon right now ;)
It picks up right where we left off with the previous book and with all those burning questions that I had swirling around in my over bleached head (don't judge I am going to the colorist soon!) I was dying to know what happened! Well my questions were answered and then some. How in the world was Reed going to be able to redeem himself for the way he treated Elle? Was what I took away from the preceding book true, would Elle give Tyler that chance to win her heart for good? and How would we find Elle and her search for self discovery?
We get to catch up with all the characters whom we have come to love and some we don't like and see how they are doing as well. Along side some new additions, the chemistry is still between all players and again another seamless flow of writing.
Elle is in Boston, dealing with aftermath of a broken heart caused by "Hurricane" Reed!. She is struggling with her inner self doubt and as always relying on her best friend Tyler as her source of comfort and security. Things begin to start getting hot between these two, leading us to believe that maybe Elle is going to give him a chance ... but is she? The feelings that were always somewhat present, lurking deep inside of her start coming to the surface and as she is about to make a decision that she has grappled with because of the apprehension she felt in maybe losing her rock and companion of 14 years guess who shows up back in town .. you guessed it REED. Now you might feel sorry for poor Tyler, pining away for Elle all these years. Always suppressing his own feelings for her well being but don't be.. Tyler does OK for himself ;)
Reed oh Mr. Reed. He also has a lot going on as well and we get to see the different facets of his life and him. The thing I liked best was being able to see a glimpse of his home life back in Texas and his love for his Momma. Also better understanding the other parts of him in dealing with some unsavory aspects of his situation.
No one can say these two ALWAYS made the right choices and decisions when faced with certain challenges but show me one person who has! The author showed us superbly the hows and whys that went into making these choices. The way they dealt with life was uniquely Reed and Elle and that is what makes them the couple that we have come to love and cheer for.
Seeing Reed fight and yes GROVEL for Elle's forgiveness and understanding all while grappling with his own insecurities of self worth is so moving that you can't help but to cheer him on and pray that he can make things right again. That he is able to overcome his belief that he doesn't deserve her. Now Elle is no wilting violet and she does make him work for it and I mean he does into over time but the beauty of this story is seeing how it all unfolds. So many outside influences are working against them that the road to redemption for Reed is even harder to achieve paved with all these obstacles.
Do Elle and Reed find love again?
Will the problems of his past be a roadblock in his quest for happiness with Elle?
Does love really conquer all?
How does Elle's and even Reed's search of self discovery turn out?
All will be revealed and answered in the final installment of the Break Me Series. I was saddened to see these characters that I came to love for finish but you will be happy with the way this fine author wrote THE END.
So THANK YOU Antoinette Candela for sharing Reed, Elle, Tyler, Cade, Jace and yes even Sierra along side all the others with us. It was a pleasure reading this HOT novel. I look forward to reading more from you and could you please start writing faster so we can get another Reed!
First off, if you have not read Breaking Elle, you must. This book takes off exactly where that one ended and gets right into it.
"Falling in love is beautiful, dangerous, and unpredictable."
When I heard that I got to review and read Wanting Reed before it was released, I literally jumped out of chair and squealed. LOL I love Reed and Elle's story and I couldn't wait to see where everything went. Reed is in Texas trying to right his wrongs and fix his past so it no longer haunts his future. However, he has no idea what this has done to Elle back in Boston.
Elle is one hell of a stubborn woman, let me tell ya. There were times when I wanted to reach into my kindle and slap her. When Reed finally returns to Boston, he makes it his mission to win her back. However, Elle does not make that easy. There are many factors and people that stand in their way. But Reed doesn't scare easily, which makes me thrilled. He is one man that will fight for what he wants, regardless of how many wounds he may suffer in the process. Elle definitely holds her ground and makes him work for it.
Does Elle finally take him back after everything? Will Reed be able to prove that everything has done was for her protection? Where does Elle's best friend Tyler fall into all of this? He has always been there to pick her up. Will Tyler finally get what he's always wanted - for Elle to return his love?
"Live by sun, love by the moon."
I got all my questions answered and then some. This is great read, however I still find myself not loving it as much as Breaking Elle. It could be that Elle was so persistent in holding things against Reed, that I started to get really annoyed. However, the book was written extremely well and very detailed. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I am extremely excited to read the next book in this series!! Bring it on Antoinette!!!
I was provide a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
Ok so let me just say that I am still half way with reading book 1, which I had to stop reading for I could have the chance to read this one, and that's because of the Blog Tour, but I am back to reading book one. I was loving the first book, but after finish reading this one, I don't know which one to love the most, I love the characters and love how the book turn out to be, love it how all the question where answer in this book, and I had a lot of them and thank god they where answer. The story begging with Ella dealing with her broken heart, she is struggling and having doubt about her self, this made her take comfort in the arms of her best friend Tyler, and let me just say that things start to get hot between them, and when it seems as she's gone give him a chance and move on with her life, she start to get the feeling that some one is watching her, and all of a sudden Reed is back in town, and he is trying to get Ella back, would he get her back or would he be to late. Love it how we get to see the other side of Reed and the way that he is with his mother.
I rally love and enjoy reading this book, love it how we get to catch up with the rest of the characters, love it more when Ella and Reed finally got talking and explain everything, love the sex scene, just love the book, Author Antoinette Candela THANK YOU for introducing me to this amazing character and this awesome book love it.
3.75 Stars ~ this was the much needed follow-up to Breaking Elle, because YES ~ I wanted Elle to have answers! But I ask, how much more can a girl take??? I loved Reed's tenacity and I loved that Elle had the strength to love through some tough situations.
Tyler ~ oh Tyler. He is the one guy that every girl wants. I am happy that he can maintain his friendship with Elle, but I did feel sorry for him in parts of this story.
Loved Piper ~ such a Fun-Loving girl who knew how to engage others!
Mindy ~ OK guys....what are you thinking???? Y'all know she has "been around" but it's OK to have sex without protection? Can there really be that many STUPID men? Apparently so, it made me want to scream. I was satisfied with the outcome all the way around.
Talk about a good roommate ~ here comes Luke with a few surprises of his own for this book. I love that he was able to help out a friend, but hated that he seemed like a playboy that did not want to grow-up.
The family dynamic between Elle & Jace was awesome. I even like how Dad is back in the picture for family dinners & holidays. It gives you a sense of hope. That same sense of hope is given as Reed's dad is making amends with his family. Reed has a great relationship with his Momma and Juju, & I love his best-friend is with his sister ~ perfect :)
It took my breath away. From the start, I was sucked right into the story. I couldn´t put it down.
The story is beautifully crafted and has a nice pace. Twist and turns keep your attention and you can´t wait to be on the next page to see what will happen next.
Antoinette has an amazing, mesmerizing writing style that has your full attention and it is very picturesque.
Brilliant job, Antoinette. Loved this book.

I truly enjoyed Wanting Reed. Elle and Reed drove me crazy at times because they just needed to communicate with each other, but as we know love doesn't come easy and there are obstacles standing in the way sometimes.
I liked all of the secondary characters and I hope to see more of all of them!! Good work Antoinette!! I can't wait for more!!
Perfect! I cannot stress exactly how much i enjoyed both reads. Elle although unlucky in love at the beginning of this journey turned out to be the luckiest girl in the world when she met Reed. It's funny, sexy, angsty, and well written. Well done Antoinette for a great job!! Looking forward to reading more of your stuff xx
Reed had made a mistake, but he had to do it to protect Elle. But can he just come back after vanishing without a trace and redeem himself with Elle? She might have moved on, or she could be very well angry at him after what he had done.
All he wanted to have is the CHANCE to explain to her what happened, and why did he had to leave. He needed to tell her he loves her, and his feelings were real no matter how short their relationship might be. Now, if only she’d give him the chance…
From one broken heart, to the next – Elle was indeed unlucky. But this time, it was much too painful. She gave him a chance, he left her with a broken heart. She tried to move on, made new friends, and finds the distraction she needs to keep her mind off Reed. She tries to live her life, until she sees Reed was back in town again…
I wished she didn’t cross THAT line with Tyler. I felt she was abusing him. She needed the friendship he had to offer, since he was always there for her. He had a BIG thing for her since then, now with Reed nowhere in sight, Tyler took this as a sign that finally he can have his chance. Maybe, if Reed was really an ass, I would have wanted Tyler for Elle. They would have been good for each other.
As for Reed – he is surrounded by girls who were trouble. I can’t help but shaking my head as he tries to get Elle back with desperate measures, employing the aid of someone who really CAN’T be trusted.
It took a while, but when the CHANCE to EXPLAIN finally came through, and they made up – ayeee! It was just wonderful – they fit each other like gloves: so perfect for each other. The sex was explosive, and the love was just stronger. And just when everything was going smoothly, another bump in the road came into view… will they make it this time?
I enjoyed the dual POV, I have always wanted to get into the thoughts of the main characters. Elle MAY have made me frown at first – with all her tendency for “rebound”, but still, I like her when she finally gave Reed the chance he had been wanting to have. As for Reed – his persuasiveness, mixed with desperation may have been a little dangerous and nearly cost their relationship, but I admire his determination to winning our girl back. In addition – the secondary characters in this story are just pretty spectacular! They were great friends and support system to both our main characters. Help came surprisingly from someone I didn’t expect…
The road to forgiveness was a bumpy ride with a whole lot of whining, hurting, and there were just too many people involved which made the whole thing a lot messier. Wanting Reed is about love and second chances – on how much faith you can put into a relationship, how much trust are you willing to give to a person who can hold so much power to destroy you. It’s about friendship – being there when friends needs you the most, and helping out when times get tough.

"Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to."
This is book 2 in the Break Me series and unlike Breaking Elle, which had a major cliffhanger, Wanting Reed has a happy ending. Although I enjoyed the story, I think that it was a bit long. The first half of book could have been cut in half because I don't think that it added too much to the overall story.
The book is told from both Elle's & Reed's POV, but featured a lot more of yummy, yummy Tyler. And picks up where Breaking Elle ended. I wouldn't recommend reading this until reading the first book as this book is not a stand alone. Also, this review may contain spoilers about the first book, so stop reading if you haven't read Breaking Elle.
Elle is heartbroken when Reed doesn't come back from Texas like he said he would and now feels like everything he said and promised her was a lie. Being betrayed by Cade and now being betrayed by Reed is too much for her to bear. And Elle's best friend Tyler is there with open arms to pick up the pieces because he is in love with her and hopes to have a future with her. To ease her pain, she decides to give Tyler a chance because it feels so familiar and safe in his arms.
As I look at him, everything we've been through over the years lingers around me like a warm blanket. This feels right for some reason on so many levels. I'm not sure how far I want to take this, but at this moment, it's what I want. - Elle
Then Reed comes back for her, Tyler convinces him that he is too late. But Elle is not sure of her feelings about Tyler because her thoughts keep coming back to Reed.
... Tyler wraps his arms around me. I need my friend right now. Is that what we are? I don't know exactly what we are anymore. There are brief moments when I question what I'm doing with him. Am I looking for a temporary escape from my pain, or do I truly want more with Tyler? I tried to make an attempt to reach out to Reed, but he disappointed me. I put myself out there again only to be isillusioned. In the back of my mind, I still believe everything he told me. The last thing I want to do is use or hurt Tyler because I am still heartbroken over Reed. The feelings for Tyler are there, but I’m unsure if they are for all the right reasons. I squeeze Tyler back, resting my head against his chest and feeling his heart thrumming against my cheek. I don't want to break his heart as I’m trying to mend mine. - Elle
Just like Breaking Elle, Wanting Reed is seriously sexy and hard to put down. I was hoping that the next book would be Luke's but Tyler will work too. ;-) He deserves his happily ever.
My life before her is a distant memory. I have her to look forward to. Better than heaven. Everything that I could ever want in my life is right here in this warm bed. I understand so much about love now. It can hurt you, but also bring you so much happiness. The heat, the power and the lightning you feel can go either way. I've felt it all with her. The highs and the lows. I've learned that I'm actually worthy of this kind of love. - Reed
I was really excited to find out what happens with Reed and Elle. The author takes a turn and tells how Elle is trying to get her life back together which I think is good, but it is frustrating because Reed is in town but they still haven't met up in the first ten chapters. Life seems to be getting better for Elle, but for Reed he is frustrated. The author starts Reed off, going to college, getting ready for tryouts, and trying to figure out if he can win Elle back. In the first quarter of the book I really enjoy Reed's POV better than Elle's, because you can tell Elle still doesn't know what she wants, but Reed has a plan. This is a book of second chances and honestly I loved this book so much more than Breaking Elle. Reading the last two thirds of this book really picked up. There is so much drama in this book and still many secrets still there that need to be found out which makes it that more enticing. Love is a tricky thing and Reed and Elle prove over and over again that it can be so worth it. With adding Luke, good ole Tyler, Cane, Jace, and a bunch of secondary characters its a cluster of what is going to happen next and who is in trouble this time. The epilogue, I would have to say it was perfect, to still see insecurities, even though they have been through so much makes it real, and I truly like real books. This book of the series did not drag like the first one and it really kept you wanting more, and that is what I liked.
On the second book of this series, Reed decides that he needs to go back and make things with Elle. Elle is trying to regain some composure in her life, but with all honesty she is failing. She is trying to live, but she misses Reed immensly. As Reed comes back into the picture. Tyler has now moved in for the opening and well, it made sense. With that complication Reed has to figure out how to win his girl back. With the lingering debt still in his future, his love for Elle, and his mom with her cancer coming back, his plate is full, oh and don't forget his football career that he is trying to pursue. What is a boy gonna do? He's gonna fight for everything that he wants. There is still so much drama that it will keep you intriguged until you finish the book.
I absolutely loved this book and not only was the storyline great, it had my favorite sports teams in it. New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys. How can you go wrong. You can't. Read this book, this is one of these books that you will have a hangover for a few days and it will be well worth it.
The story continues and were still trying to figure out why Reed hasn’t contacted Elle and let her know what’s going on back home in Texas, we know he doesn’t want to get her mixed up in his past, but if he could just be honest it would save a lot of heart ache. We also witness Elle trying to pick the pieces of her broken heart up and put it back together, she starts by finally getting her own place, even though her brother Jace, who she has a close bond with doesn’t want her to go but knows that she probably needs to helps her pack and move and keep her thoughts off Reed and She is trying to not let all the remainders of Reed get her down. Meanwhile, I really do love Tyler and Elle’s close friendship and bond they have but he really gets me mad and upset at the fact that he knows Elle is still in love with Reed, he is using her vulnerability to his advantage of trying to get closer to her and let her know that he’s always been in love with her. Also, if he would’ve been honest in the beginning about seeing Reed and telling him that Elle wants him to stay away, it would’ve saved them from getting into an argument and Elle feeling hurt by him and she could’ve talked to Reed sooner. We learn more about Reed’s roommate and friend Luke, who has been there for Reed and there friendship grows when they both are faced with a life decision that is out of their hands until they find out the answers. We also meet Elle’s new friends Piper and her boyfriend Link, who I really Love. Piper is the friend that Elle needed and she came along at the right time, she gets Elle out and having fun, I don’t want to give too much away but she’s a good connection and helps Elle find her true love again!
“You are the air I breathe. Your voice is all I hear. You’re all I need. Look ahead. Leave the past behind. Put our lives on hold and press rewind.”
When Elle and Reed finally run into each other and talk will she be able to forgive him and understand his reasoning. What will she decide to do about her and Tyler’s relationship? Elle will have some decisions to make and they aren’t easy and you really feel a connection with her and go through her emotions of being happy, mad and sad!
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it. I can’t wait for more! I really hope their is so we can continue on Elle and Reeds journey and read more about the amazing other characters I feel in love with.
We pick up with Reed & Elle pretty much where we left off after the first book, Breaking Elle. The story continues as they try to either find their way back to each other or face the fact that they need to move on. The people “protecting” Elle might be doing more harm than good.
Elle is devastated that she’s at the airport and there’s no Reed. I mean it can’t be helped and we, as the reader, know that it’s because he’s back home in Texas in a hospital. This really breaks her and it seems to affect everything she ever thought was true, not only about her relationship with Reed but with trusting people in general.
Reed is such a great guy deep down, he just has ways of dealing with things that seem to get him deeper into holes. He makes rash decisions in some ways and procrastinates in others and neither seem right for the situation. He doesn’t tell Elle about his past in time so he hurts her even more than if he would have just told her. He waits way too long to deal with the people looking for him in Texas so they take it out on him in a very not good way, hense, his hospital stay.
Reed makes it back to Boston and from the beginning, in the airport bathroom, Tyler is there to tell him to stay away from Elle. He tells Tyler how broken Elle was when he left and that she’s moved on. But Tyler might have other, more selfish reasons, for making sure Reed doesn’t come around Elle. Does Tyler want to move out of the “friend” status that he’s been in for so long?
The story moves in separate directions, Elle without Reed, Reed without Elle. They each have their own lives and we see how broken and just HARD it is for each of them to not be together. Reed, with a kick in the ass from his sister, finally gives up the fight to stay away from her and a plan is formed. Will it work? Can he get her back? Will Elle be able to forgive him? Better yet can she trust him even when he still won’t tell her about his past? Her mindset becomes, he’s my future I don’t care about the past, but will that be ok even though he hasn’t completely dealt with the past?
I have very much enjoyed these 2 books! The characters and story is so well written. The story flows and is relatable and you get a lot of description on the Boston area and the places they go, which helps paint the story in your head in a way that you feel you are there with them. All the characters, even the ones that you hardly know, have depth and realism.
This is the follow up to Breaking Elle and if you have not read it, STOP and do not read any further!!! You need to stop reading this and go get it!! It’s a hot read that you will not want to miss!! So I am assuming if you are still reading you have read Breaking Elle… if you didn’t, don’t say I didn’t warn your. This will contain some a little SPOILER from Breaking Elle!
So we left Reed in a whole bunch of trouble. He has to stay in Texas longer than expected to clean up his mess before he can return to Boston and Elle. In the meantime, Elle is left in the dark. Since Reed doesn’t come back without any explanation, she assumes he is staying in Texas for good and not returning to her. Weeks go by without any word from him. Little does she know while back in Texas things went from bad to worse! But then again, gambling and shady characters will do that. It seems like the only good thing about Reed being in Texas is being with his family. We get to see the family side of Reed that shows that family means everything to him, especially his Momma.
While Reed is back in Texas, things get heat up with Elle and Tyler. Are they going to hook up… or they not going to hook up??? Tyler has always been her best friend, can she move out of the friend zone with him. Her feelings are so conflicted. And I feel sorry for Tyler at times. He has been so loyal to her and I want them to be together, but then a part of me is like... no… Reed is where she belongs. Their relationship is explosive, passionate. Where Tyler is nice…
When Reed finally gets his act together he heads back to Boston. He is determined to work up a plan to get Elle back. When he teams up with the hoochie, Sierra, things go from bad to worse. Will Reed be able to show Elle how much he loves her and he never intended to hurt her. Will Elle give him a second chance or does she decide that the safe bet with Tyler is the way to go?? You will need to read to find out. This sequel completes the series and there is no cliffhanger. There is some hotness going on in this book that will have you wanting your own Reed! He’s all alpha male and I loved it!! There is also a great supporting cast that is introduced in this book and I hope the author expands on them in future novels! Overall a great hot steamy read that you will love!
Wanting Reed is a great follow up to Breaking Elle, and if you haven’t read that one yet, I suggest you get on that before continuing this review, or beginning Wanting Reed.
This sequel picks up right where Breaking Elle ended, I loved that. Reed was left with trouble on his doorstep. Having to leave to tie up some loose ends cost him dearly. While Reed was away, Elle had no clue what was going on and so, she moved on. Reed manages to get way more than her bargained for and getting his life together, becomes that much harder. But, his family sticks by him and we see just how much his family means to him. We’re offered a completely new side of him, one that will make you love him even more.
Elle’s relationship with Tyler really heats up in this book. Even though the readers, and him, know she’s still completely in love with Reed. Tyler being the best friend, knows how to push her buttons, and which ones to push to get precisely the reaction he hopes for. This would be the reason I really, really wanted to punch him in the face. With Elle’s confusion over what she wants and trying to make a decision, I may (or may not have) felt a slight stirring of empathy for the poor guy. Would Tyler be the better choice in my opinion? Quite possibly, they’ve been best friends forever and his loyalty is astounding. But, I know Reed is where she truly wants to be. She just needs to stop thinking for a moment, and just feel! Their relationship has me fanning myself on more than one occasion, it’s hot, explosive, passionate. Of course they have problems! If they didn’t have problems….I would have problems with that!
But, when things finally start looking up, somewhat in Reed’s favor, it goes from bad to worse. Now he has to convince Elle, that she is his one and only. But, a broken heart doesn’t always mend that easily. Will Elle grant Reed another chance or will she decide to stop taking risks, and have her safety net?
I loved this sequel, while I found it wordy in some areas it was a delicious read! There were quite a few supporting characters, new and old, that I really hope the author will decide to do a spin off about or something! They were perfectly written that without them, Wanting Reed would not have been the success it was. If you liked Breaking Elle, I highly suggest you read Wanting Reed. You don’t want to miss out on this one.
I just finished Wanting Reed and I really liked it. This is apart of a series so you have to read Breaking Elle first to be able to know what is going on. From Breaking we find that Reed has left Elle with no word on what or where he has gone, even though she has been given some clue as to where he has gone just still doesn't understand what is going on. At the beginning to me she is really by herself even though she surrounds herself with loved ones. She still has contact with Cane (ex boyfriend) and Tyler (best friend turned lover) but what will happen when Reed comes back because you know that he will, he needs Elle. She misses and wants Reed but what does she do? Who does she choose? You will have to read and see.
I really liked the story and I thought that it flowed really well. There is a lot of drama and who doesn't want that. Reed Cane and Tyler are all good boys in their own way and it was a tough decision for Elle. Even though she has and tries to stay away from Reed, things always lead back to him. It will be a hard thing that she has to do and can understand why it is hard. I'm not really a triangle type of person when reading a love story... I like the whole A through z, not the pit stops of 1 2 and 3 because there is a 3rd person involved. Its ok, did it take away from the story, no. It was still enjoyable. The chemistry between them was hot and it did scorch the pages, it will definitely leave you breathless
We get to see of course Reed, Cane, Tyler, Luke, Jase and yes even Sierra. They all give great depth to the story, even though you may or may not like the character. They are there to help the hero/heroine make their decisions.
The only complaint that I have was at the beginning. For me it was slow and I wanted it to pick up. It eventually did but not before it put just a teeny tiny sour taste in my mouth.
If you are looking for a good story that takes you on a journey from love, to heartache, to self discovery back to love again then this one is for you. Cannot wait to see what happens.
If you haven't read Breaking Elle, you must before you start this one. WANTING REED picks up pretty much where the first book ended. Reed is in Texas recovering from his run in with the unsavory fellow he borrowed money from and Elle is in Boston trying to recover from what she perceives is Reed's abandonment of her. Both of them are broken by what Reed's past has done to them. Reed knows he has a lot to make up for with Elle and she's pretty much put Reed in the flaming pile of shit category. I will tell you, Elle is a stubborn woman who can hold a grudge. She had a right to her anger, as far as Reed is concerned, but I found it irritating that she would hold so much against Reed, but be so willing to forgive others when they purposefully misled her. But equally frustrating is when she is finally forced into dealing with Reed, she completely falls back into his arms. There were many times when I wanted to scream at Reed just to walk away because she was so frustrating. I was pretty much already in love with Reed from the first book, but this one solidified that. Even though he spent the majority of the book on his hands and knees trying to beg for forgiveness, it proved the depth of his feelings for Elle. I would be hard pressed to stay mad at a man who tried as much as Reed did, even with his screw ups (which there were a few).
I have been waiting for the continuation of Reed and Elle's story. I had a burning desire to know exactly how Reed was going to try and win Elle back. Would Elle forgive him or would she turned to her best friend Tyler (as it appeared at the end of Breaking Elle). I got all the answers I was looking for, but I didn't find myself loving this book as much as I did the first one. Most of that was because of how stubborn Elle was. While I didn't want her to rush back into Reed's arms without some kind of apology or groveling, I think her stubbornness and unwillingness to bend when it came to Reed turned me off a bit. That said, this was still a solid read and one that I couldn't put down once I started it.
Wanting Reed is book two in Antoinette Candela’s Break Me series but the last book that revolves around Elle. Its brilliantly written and I thought it was a beautiful ending to a beautiful story even if things didn’t always go to plan. This book starts pretty much where Breaking Elle finished, with Reed in Texas and Elle left alone to pick up the pieces and of course Tyler there to be her shoulder and knight in shining armour and it’s full of ‘hold your breath’ moments. Just like book one Elle has a constant inner battle going on and she’s never quite sure which she should listen to, head or heart. You can tell that she’s trying to be strong and stand alone throughout this difficult time but Tyler makes it too easy for her to lean on him. Her indecisiveness drove me insane at times but then sitting back and thinking about it I realised that how she’s processing all of this is how any normal person would, an internal conversation with yourself to hash things out when trying to work through something that is going to be potentially life changing, it doesn’t help Elle’s frame of mind though when Tyler is constantly there confusing the poor girl even more with his great body and fantastic personality. Now onto Reed, wow did he royally screw up and even while trying to make things right all he seems to do is screw up some more, I kind of feel sorry for him that no matter what he does its never the right thing or he’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. For me this book is a story of redemption and learning to love and trust again after being broken more than once, its about learning to embrace the good with the bad and the happiness that only you can make for yourself. I have loved reading Elle and Reed’s story they made the relationship process entertaining to say the least, and I cant wait to see if Tyler finally finds his true love in book three, Chasing Tyler. 5 Stars!
Wanting Reed is a story of second chances. Reed has totally messed up with Elle, and isnt sure how to fix it. Elle is devastated by the loss of Reed and is trying to bury all her feelings.
Now, I have to say, I have not read the 1st book in this series, Breaking Elle. But I will right that situation. With that said, I was not lost while reading this one. Iam sure some things would of been mush clearer, but I was totally able to understand and never felt like I needed to stop and read the 1st one.
This one opens up a while after Reed has left Elle to return home on what should of been a quick trip. But his past has caught up with him and left him broken--literally. When he doesnt show up at the airport when he was supposed to, Elle is left devastated. And her best friend Tyler makes his move to heal her broken heart.
I was really afraid this was going to end up some crazy love triangle, but I have to say, it was very well played. There was just enough to leave me wondering and not so much that I wanted to throw my kindle and be done with it. It was a perfect balance.
And as the story plays out, and secrets are revealed, found myself up until 2am reading because I needed to know what Elle was going to do. At times she was a little all over the place, but she always came through in the end, and I never felt like she was just a weak heroine. She was fantastic.
Through all the ups and downs, this book was defiantly a roller coaster ride. But it was a ride I would take again. And there is now so many options for follow up books, that I hope to see Luke's story one of these days...he has me curious.
Wanting Reed picks up where Breaking Elleleaves off. What Elle knows is that Reed left for Texas and didn't come back. She doesn't know why and can only believe that he left her and his new life in Boston. She does her best to move on with her life and even starts to explore a relationship that could be more than it is. Even as she tries to move forward, she can't get rid of the strong feelings she still has for Reed.
Reed has been through a lot of terrible situations, and he is desperately trying to fix the errors of his past and put his life on track so that he can be a person that Elle deserves. He knows now that not telling her about his past and why he didn't come back when he was supposed to may have been a huge mistake. He returns to Boston to try and get her back, but sees that it may be too late.
There was definitely some high drama going on in this book. Especially during the first half of the book. I don't want to spoil anything, but there were definitely some moments where I wanted to yell because characters were doing things I knew they shouldn't. The fast pace and exciting events kept the story going. Towards the second half of the book, I was still engaged in the story, but found that some of the dialogue was getting pretty repetitive. All in all, I'm glad the way things turned out and was glad that I read this to see how things worked out for these characters. 3.5 stars.
*An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review
I have been waiting a long time for this one to come out. The way that Breaking Elle ended I needed to know what was going to happen. I needed to know if Elle was going to end up with Tyler or if Reed was going to be able to fix the broken heart that he gave Elle.
I was a nervous wreck reading this book. I LOVE Tyler- I have since book 1. What is not to love? I just didn't want him with Elle. I really wanted Elle in the end to be with Reed. I think that Tyler and Elle have a great friendship. They needed to keep that in tact and not ruin in by making a huge mistake. I was pretty sure that it was going to end with Reed, but I didn't know 100% and that was the kicker.
While I thought that the beginning of the book was a bit long and drawn out, I do see why it was that way. I know that she wanted us to see Elle as a strong woman who didn't need a man to make her life complete. I will say that I liked the 2nd half much better. Lots of hot sex and new relationship then what we saw in the first book between Elle and Reed. They both have grown so much and you can see that.
I love the side characters in the book. Luke is funny as hell and keeps you laughing whenever he was around. Reed's sister and his best friend (JuJu and Tommy) are a fun couple and you can see just how close they are to Reed. Piper is fun and you can see that underneath her has a real softness to her.
I am very very anxious to read the next story about Tyler. I was very happy with the end for Elle and Reed and I can't wait to see where it will all go with him!!
I'm not too sure what to say here about this book.
I loved that Elle and Reed found their way back to each other but I didn't like any of the circumstances surrounding it.
Tyler was a world class douche in this book when it came to being "over protective" of Elle. I really hate what he did and how he constantly lied to her. I would not have forgiven him if I were Elle. Right from the beginning at the airport how he "showed" he possessed Elle was ridiculous!
Her brother Jace on the other hand, yes, it was his job as brother to protect Elle but he at least showed he was having a hard time keeping it from her.
I felt really bad for Reed throughout this entire book.
I'm giving this book 3 stars because although I enjoyed the final outcome of the book, I think that the book was way too wordy. I felt that there was a lot of verbage thrown into the book that was completely unnecessary. I found myself skimming through a lot of the end of the book because it was just lagging on and on.
I really wish I could've given this book a better review and I will definitely read more from this author.
Please, even though this book dragged for me, give it a chance. We are all different and not everyone is going to feel the same about a book. I really hope you do enjoy it!
This book starts right where book 1 left off and let me tell you after being pi**y over the ending of 'Breaking Elle' and being pi**y over the beginning of this book it wasn't looking promising, as I got into the book though I well got into the book. Elle that girl is a damn tough cookie and I'm so glad that she didn't lose her luster from certain events, "you guys are gonna help me pack and move," I say, looking between Jace and Tyler. "Well, move. The packing I can handle myself. I have some fragile possessions, and you guys are all thumbs." Reed when it comes to having his woman safe he's all about business, "what's so funny about wanting the woman I love to be safe at all times?" He frowns playfully and picks me up off my feet." He can be a naughty boy, more naughtier than book 1, "maybe a little." He looks down at me and runs his fingers through my hair. "Speaking of a little, I need a lot. Right now," he says, grabbing me by the waist. "Trick or treat?" He winks." Elle, also knows how to keep her man on his toes, "I make you my sexual slave," she whispers with a distractively sexy-smile on her lips. I think my di** just ripped a hole in my boxers and is ready to burst my zipper. Effing winning. I'm losing."
Antoinnette has done it again! Wanting Reed is the sequel to Breaking Elle, so it is imperative that you read that novel first.
Wanting Reed picks up where Breaking Elle leaves off. Reed is in Texas, and Elle is in Boston. Both are harboring a broken heart. Once Reed returns to Boston, his trouble worsens. Tyler is still a strong presence in Elle's life, and there are some truly meaningful scenes between them. Reed's past always seems to be lingering in the background, rearing its ugly head at the most inopportune times throughout the novel. Reed's family in Texas is more prevalent in this book, allowing the reader to see exactly what kind of caring person he really is. The secondary characters shine in this book. The reader is introduced to new characters as well as several obstacles that hinder Reed reconciling with Elle. I absolutely love Piper and Luke and loathe Sierra and Mindy. When you read it, you will definitely agree.
There are twists and turns and lots of steamy scenes. The story is well written as is Breaking Elle. I am anxiously awaiting Antoinette's next adventure. I know it will be awesome! Great job, Antoinette!!
