Garrison's clear and current ESSENTIALS OF OCEANOGRAPHY is based on his bigger Oceanography text. However, unlike competing books, which are simply abbreviated versions of a larger text, ESSENTIALS is crafted specifically to meet the needs of the shorter course, with less biology and a total of 15 chapters. This revision presents the most current information throughout, including up-to-date information on global warming, as well as an improved and expanded illustration program. In addition, there is increased emphasis on the interdisciplinary nature of marine science. Garrison brings focus to the appreciation of and excitement to the complex nature of the ocean and its interactions with other systems.

Decent as textbooks go. I still wish my teacher hadn't customized it killing the resale value.
