Contemporary romance author Connie Cox was a finalist in the 2007 Golden Heart contest and sold that book, Taking Flight, to Avalon Books. When Avalon Books closed, Amazon Montlake picked up Taking Flight and offers the story in hard back, paper back and ebook. Then Connie entered a contest sponsored by Harlequin Medical Romances. This led to The Baby Who Saved Dr. Cynical and four more books with Harlequin. Then life happened. Connie went in a different direction and picked up a new pen name along with a new genre.
But true love never says never. There were still heroes and heroines flitting around in Connie's mind, destined to be together. Now, the muses have pulled Connie back to this pen name to give them all their Happy Endings
♥️♥️♥️1/2 What a great idea for a story. I enjoyed myself from beginning to end. Caroline is working hard on the wedding of the century, in wedding planner world at least, when the worst thing happened, the wedding is called off before the bride walks down the isle. After putting herself in debt to fund this wedding that could have furthered her career she now sits on not only her debt but her parents house was remortgaged to help her open her business. Brandon is one of Louisiana's most eligible bachelors at least he is again and it's killing his business. Canceling his wedding was a blessing and a curse because now he needs to marry someone that will be good for his image. After storming into his office to demand he pay her she leaves with a prenup agreement and wedding plans of her own now. Caroline soon played the part so well that Brandon began to look forward to his life with her, no more late night at the office or sleeping in the penthouse in his office building. Sometime contracts are made to be broken, whether it's planned or not. Sometimes it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all like the saying goes. Quick read if you need a good beach read pick this up!
Would you marry someone for money? Sign a contract and have a business arranged marriage? What if you were losing everything and it affected the ones you loved? Maybe….
For Caroline and her company, Weddings Divine, this decision became easy. She was stuck with a elegantly planned wedding that was called off literally at the alter. This wedding was supposed to make her and it was since she had several upcoming weddings booked and business was great. Until the cancelled wedding which she not only didn’t get payment for but caused all the other brides to cancel.
Showing up that the person who cancelled the wedding’s office, Brandon read over the contract his former fiancee signed and knew that Caroline had no leg to stand on. He wasn’t responsible for this payment. However, Caroline had a DVD he needed and when offering her money she declined. On top of the visceral affect she had on him from the moment he looked at her and shook her hand, he needed to do something drastic.
The cancelled wedding had been the same - arranged. It was convenient for him to arrange a wedding so the tabloids would get off his back and he would not be the hottest bachelor and he could get on with his business. He still had a list of women that had been researched and checked but he went with his gut and offered the “position” to Caroline. Will she take him up on his offer?
With the affect that they have on each other will love get involved? Brandon has demons that he needs to deal with but with the sweetness and charm of Caroline she might be the one for him. But there’s another complication - she’s a virgin. Brandon can’t allow himself to fall for her and take their relationship to that emotional state that will hurt her when their arrangement dissolves. Will he learn to trust her? Can he see that she’s the one for him?
I loved this book. It’s wonderfully written and even though there are other characters it’s really about the two of them. Brandon & Caroline have such depth and enough differences to be highly entertaining. Brandon with his all business persona and Caroline with her sweet charm. This is a great story that moves along quickly but paints a detailed picture in your head. Loved!!!!
Caroline Duplessis is a wedding planner. She thought she was handling the most important wedding in New Orleans but when the groom cancels the wedding at the altar and the bride's check bounces, her company Weddings Divine is in jeopardy. On top of that she has used her parents house's second mortgage as collateral. Caroline decides to approach the groom when her bills pilled up.
Brandon Andrew D'Estrahan is a groom in need of a wife, urgently. He is a savvy business man owner of Phoenix Rising but also one of the most desired bachelors. Papparazzi are always following him and he is loosing deals because of how the tabloids are portraying him.
Brandon's gut tells him that Caroline is the woman he needs. He just needs to convince her to sign the prenup. When Caroline makes it clear her body is not part of the deal, she creates a challenge Brandon can't resist.
I love this book! It was so sweet. It is fast paced, entertaining, no cliffhanger and there is no cheating!
I'm a sucker for stories were the marriage is of convenience but later on they fall madly in love.
Caroline was smart, funny and spoke her mind. She was a great listener and she cared for Brandon. Brandon was not the usual business mogul. Yes, he can be domineering, arrogant but he knew he had a good thing in his hands and didn't want to loose it. He never even looked at another woman.
If I could mention that I was a little disappointed when there was no epilogue. The ending just felt to abrupt for me.
I do wonder if the other couple mentioned in Contractually Yours will get their own book or Alex, the lawyer.
I thoughly enjoyed Contractually Yours by Connie Cox. It has an excellent storyline and kept me turning the pages until complete. The characters were well developed, the basis and connections are interesting.
The only place I felt could have used a little more work was the ending seemed a little rushed, but made sense in any case.
It was refreshing to find a story of this calibar clean. I can recommend this to anyone and everyone without hesitation.
Since when I picked this one up it happened to be quite warm for a spring day I thought it would be a good way to get my mind off the warm. Once I began to read right away the main character Caroline has got herself into quite the pickle with no way out it would seem to her with her business going down the tubes. Being a wedding planner must have its ups and downs (do know it is something I could not do would probably choke the bride out) and this failed wedding that did not happen took her down. Going to see if maybe the intended groom whom happened to be quite the looker and well off would honor the bills left to her by ex's bounced check brings more to her door than she imagined. Once this author goes forth with their interaction I was thinking this will certainly be interesting because he has so many good points he tells her but then again he does the most interesting thing and asks her to marry him-with a contract no less of course. By now I have completely been intrigued with were and how this author will take this with these two characters Caroline and Brandon already both being strong personalities, and the contract my golly gee I would of smacked him upside the head with it but no she is up for the challenge. Even though they have both signed on the dotted line this author will show how fate has a whole different meaning to contracts and what can happen to two people such as these two. Quite the enjoyable read seeing what goes down with these two and how one contract causes these two to build a relationship that will keep you entranced just by curiosity to see what happens. This is the fun thing about reading romance the author uses that little ole cold contract and warms up two great characters. Women also need to watch when they say bed is not part of a bargain when the one they are saying it too is as fine as Brandon with the heart betraying you turning up the engines in the body with the want to meter making you change direction. Brandon being someone who really does not know the true meaning of love gets a bonus clause that was not intended and reaps the love of a good woman with his heart producing the same. All and all quite a delightful read with the right romance, some humor and witnessing the results of what can happen by signing on the dotted line for business plus their merger will give them a bonus of more than one kind at the end. Received a arc for a honest review.
I was offered this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This was the first book I had read by the author, but it won't be the last. It was quite an enjoyable read though there is some discrepancy between the blurb and the actual story.
We meet Caroline two days after the worst day of her life. The high society wedding that she had pinned all her hopes, dreams and the loan from her parents on, was called off by the groom just moments before the wedding was to take place. Caroline had paid for much of the work out of her own account, being promised reimbursement when the wedding took place. Now that the wedding has been called off, and even the check she had received at the beginning had bounced, she looking at not only the lose of her business, but her parents house as well. So Caroline decides to take the bills directly to Brandon D'Estrahan, the groom who called off the wedding and who she was promised would be footing the bills.
Brandon D'Estrahan is a entrepreneur who does multi-million dollar deals around the globe. But his business deals are hurting because companies don't want to deal with a "playboy". His work around was to get married. Unfortunately, his first choice of wife turned out to already be married. When Caroline shows up at his office, looking for repayment on the wedding, Brandon makes her a deal - 6 months of outwardly wedded bliss and he will pay off all her outstanding creditors and save her parents house. In return for paying off the debts, she will outwardly be his wife, handle the charity commitments, plan and host parties and basically grant him the air of stability that he is currently lacking.
In many ways this followed the typical marriage of convenience troupe. However, as with everything, the devil is in the details. And the details on this one are quite wonderful. I was thoroughly sucked into the story and found myself rooting for Caroline and Brandon. She isn't quite the push over she initially appears and he isn't the hard-hearted villain taking advantage of her situation. There are some great secondary characters in the book and I look forward to finding out their stories someday. This book had me grinning and sniffling back a few tears. I gave it 4 stars.
This is the first book that I have read by Connie Cox and I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and excited and you were drawn into the story from the first page. I actually had a hard time putting it down.
What happens when the biggest wedding of your design career ends in the bride running away and the groom calling it all off? Who is the one responsible for the bill? Well Caroline is about to find out. She has thrown everything into her wedding planning business. Her parents even mortgaged their house to help her get Weddings Divine up and running. Now Caroline is left trying to figure out how she is going to pay for a wedding that did not happen, with very little money. She decides to go to the source of the debacle and plead her case, so to speak. If she can't get the groom to pay, she is going to have to close up shop.
Brandon D’Estrahan is one of the most eligible bachelors around and he hates it. Women are constantly throwing themselves his way and he wants no part of it. With the help of his best friend and lawyer, Jack, he sets out to find a partner/wife to complement his life. He is not interested in love. He works hard for a living and wants a woman who will help move him even further along in his career. What he never expected was to be confronted by Caroline Duplessis. His jilted brides wedding planner. When he decides to make her an offer to save her business and make his life easier in the public eye, he never expected the sparks to fly.
There is so much angst between these two at times. The sexual tension is unreal, you could cut it with a knife. I really enjoyed this story, but felt that the ending was a little rushed. Will Brandon and Caroline be able to last six months together, so they both can get what they need out of this union or will Caroline have had enough of egotistical Brandon and pack her bags and leave with an empty pocketbook? A quick and light read, I highly recommend this cute story.
I so appreciate that the author understood that a book under 200 pages really doesn’t need a lot of useless fillers. She started telling this story on page one and had me hooked. Caroline runs her own wedding planning business in New Orleans. The only way for an outsider to make it is to win over the high socialites and their friends. She thought she had with what was considered the biggest wedding of the century. All of her plans for her future and her parents’ house were at risk. When the unthinkable happens on the day of the wedding, there was nowhere for her to go for help, except the office of Brandon, New Orleans most sought after bachelor. Brandon has his own high profile business that leaves him highly misunderstood in society. His sexy looks also make him the target of single women who stand outside his office with signs begging him to marry them. He sees the only way to make his business appear above board and taken seriously is to get married. When Caroline walks in his office with her request, he saw a way to not only solve her problems but solve his too, they needed to get married. With a contract in place, rules set out, restrictions understood; all that was left was to say I do. The problem is, real feelings started to emerge in both but one of them refused to acknowledge them till it was too late. The whole book was pleasant to read and moved fast, the characters were developed so well it was easy to relate to them. While Caroline knew that she was going to give up her first marriage for this contract, she kept her dignity, even when her friends accused her of things because they didn’t understand. Brandon could have been written as a jerk and I am sure some readers would think that, but I felt she gave us the real man, who was limited in options because of how society looked at him. No one saw the real Brandon, until Caroline came along. I really recommend this book as a great evening read, it is relaxing, charming, engaging and pleasant to read.

Contractually Yours is the story of Caroline and Brandon. Caroline has started a wedding planning business, and she is trying hard to get the business off the ground. She is hired to plan the wedding of the season of Brandon D’Estrahan and his intended. Of course things don't go as planned.
Brandon calls off the wedding, during the ceremony. This leaves Caroline in financial straits. It's so bad that she had decided to swallow her pride and ask Brandon to pay her the money for the services she provided.
Brandon is looking for a partner/wife, but this is not to be a love match. He needs someone to help keep all of the women who hound him at bay, so that he can take care of business. The woman he made the deal with at first turned out to be withholding some important information about herself, hence the called off wedding.
In comes Caroline wanting her money and Brandon with his proposition.
I love the premise behind this story, but I had a hard time believing that a woman who was waiting for mister right would turn around and give herself to this man without having a discussion about how they are going to proceed in their relationship.
Even though we as the readers got how they felt about each other, there was still some confusion about it between them. I also thought that the ending was wrapped up a little too neatly.
All that being said, I still enjoyed the overall story a great deal. I enjoyed it so much in fact that I finished it in one sitting. That's saying a lot since I usually don't get to read until bedtime and most times I fall asleep before I finish a chapter, nevertheless an entire novella or novel.
If you are looking for a light read, with a bit of romance then you will like this book.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and in exchange I am giving it an honest review.
This book opens with Caroline Duplessis being in dire financial straits as a cheque she tried to cash for services rendered by her start-up wedding-planning company, Weddings Devine, bounces. Her client, Laurel Winters, was supposed to receive the money to remunerate Caroline from her fianceé, Brandon D'Estrehan, after the wedding. However, Brandon calls off the wedding and the marriage the day of the ceremony. Caroline decides she`s going to Brandon to demand her payment from him. Brandon, however, tells Caroline that because it`s Laurel's name on the contract, he is not obligated to pay Caroline back for any of her work. Caroline is desperate to receive the money in some way because she wishes to pay back her parents who loaned her the money to start Weddings Devine, putting their house up as collateral.
Having called off his wedding, Brandon finds himself in the position of needing a new fianceé, purely for business reasons. He sees a way out of both his and Caroline's predicament and therefore suggests to her the title contract. He suggests that they pretend to be married - or, rather to really, legally, get married, but it would be a sham - and in return for Caroline helping Brandon with his charity-based business and at other social functions, he would repay Laurel's debt and also give Caroline money to repay her parents and keep Weddings Devine afloat. Caroline hates the idea of marrying not for love, but money. However, she's desperate, so she agrees.
Though the path by which Caroline and Brandon choose to get there is different, I felt the story reached a somewhat predictable (if you've read lots of chick-lit) conclusion. However, the story is still enjoyable and I would recommend it.
The agony! The sarcasm! The stubbornness!!! Oh my goodness!!!! Caroline Duplessis, wedding planner and struggling entrepreneur in The Big Easy, finds herself in a major fix when the wedding of the century falls into her hands and then, soon after, falls through the roof the day of the planned ceremony.
Jilted groom Brandon D’Estrahan is who Caroline turns to when she seeks payment for her services that she rendered to the couple even though there was no wedding carried out. His offer? The shocking proposal of a six month marriage to pacify the media. Despite his reputation as a ladies' man, Caroline agrees to marry Brandon.
Did they HONESTLY think that they could cohabitate for six whole months without developing some sort of emotional connection??? Dear Lord at the angst!! These two beautiful, yet VERY stubborn people are so...... I don't even know what word to use besides STUBBORN!!! If I were in Caroline's shoes, that little optional clause in their agreement wouldn't have been an issue because I would have taken advantage of that in a heartbeat!!!!
I love this story because it does have that rare air of innocence (at times) and the underlying desperation coming from Caroline as a result of her financial predicament. And we do have a true gentleman.... Not once did Brandon attempt to sway Caroline's resolve before she let him know that she was beyond ready. Cheers to another swoon-worthy hottie in a suit!!!!! The main trait that differentiated Brandon from the many other successful young men in romance/erotica lit these days is the honor of virtue. Mad props to Brandon!!! Where are these fellas in real life???
Honest review given in exchange for a complimentary copy of this book.
Brandon D'Estrahan just left his soon to be wife at the alter, no one knows why but Caroline now finds herself totally screwed. She fronted the money for what was supposed to be the big break in her career business as a wedding planner, now she's left with tons of bills and a bounced check. She knows it was a stupid thing to do, but she thought they were good for the money after all the groom is a billionaire. Now she has to go to him and ask for her money. The problem? There's a reason he's a ruthless businessman and he's not gonna give her anything since he's not on the contract, but then he somes up with a proposal, LITERALLY.
Brandon needs a wife to keep the vultures at bay. He thought he found one until he dug up her secret, now he needs a new prospect and the tiny brunette who just came barging into his office, she's not on his list of candidates, but his instincts say she's the one. Now to convince her six months could change her life. But could it also change his?
Caroline is strong willed and smart mouthed with enough poise and grace to get her through anything. Or so she thought until she met Brandon and his carisma and proposal shake her world. Brandon knows what he wants and goes after it with precision and careful care. He's smart and yes ruthless when he needs to be, but underneath his rough exterier is a guy who has a past. One he doesn't open up to anyone about, but Caroline's caring nature just might change that.
These two look like oil and vinegar but when their together they are perfect for each other. Everyone sees it exept maybe them. There's fun and flirtation and big ego's galore. The two fit together even when they don't realize it and their journey is definitley sweet.
Contractually Yours was a very enjoyable story. The personalities of the characters were so wonderful that it captured my interest from the very beginning. I only wish it was longer because I wanted to keep reading. This may be the first story I have read by Ms. Cox, but it will definitely not be the last.
Caroline Duplesis is a wedding planner who is trying to make her new business a success. What she never expected was that right before her clients are to say ‘I do’ the wedding is called off. She has put everything she has including money that her parents lent to her by taking out a second mortgage on their home into getting Weddings Devine up and running. When she does not get paid for the cancelled wedding she knows she has no choice but to go to the groom and request payment. She has a signed contract, so how hard can it be to get the money?
Brandon D’Estrahan has been left at the altar. He really is not that upset about it, except for the fact that he knows he needs to have a woman standing beside him if he wants to continue the business dealings his company is involved in. When Caroline comes to him requesting that he takes care of the expenses that she is still owed for his wedding he proposes a way out for both of them. Marry him for a contracted amount of time and he will pay her bills and she’ll have no financial worries when their marriage ends. How can she refuse?
Caroline knows she has no choice but to accept Brandon’s proposal if she wants to save her business and keep her parents from losing their home. Will their marriage last throughout the contract? What happens if love finds its way into the marriage before the contract expires?

I really enjoyed this read, although on the short side, I liked the characters and the story line. Caroline is the wedding planner who thought she had finally found the jackpot wedding that would put her on the map, sadly the only map it put her on was the debt collectors. She used everything she had to try to get her business to work and nothing could prepare her for the groom calling off the wedding at the last second. Not worrying to much she goes to cash the check only to find out that there was insufficient funds. Behind on her bills and close to totally losing it, she works up the courage to go straight to the groom, Brandon, to try to get something for her troubles and as it turns out she gets way more than she thought. Brandon was close to closing tons of deals with his marriage looming and the playboy ways of his being in the past, but as it turns out his soon to be wife had a husband of her own waiting on her in Italy. Now with no time to waste he is on the hunt for a new bride, when in walks in wedding planner Caroline asking for the money his ex-fiancé didn’t deliver. Sparks fly between these two and a deal is set: after 6 months of marriage, Caroline will have her debt paid, extra money and new clients all she has to do is pretend to be married and happily in love. The problem? Neither of them actual expected to fall in love.
A gifted copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review by Vanessa.
This is my first book by Connie Cox and I definitely enjoyed it very much. Although the story is somewhat typical of a marriage of convenience, it was a really fun book to read. If you enjoy reading sweet romance with some heat but not too much, and you enjoy reading marriage of convenience stories, you'll be sure to enjoy this book too.
My idea of a great relationship is one where the parties in the relationship bring out the best in his/her partner. In this story, that's what it is. Brandon who was an unwanted child had a reputation of being ruthless. In actual fact, he was just protecting himself from being hurt again. Caroline came into his life and changed him, bringing out the best in him. I thought the ending was really romantic but I shan't go into details here.
My only complain about this book is that it was way too short; longer than a novella but shorter than many novels I've read. Do hope that Connie can write longer stories with the same depth as this one.
If you love a romantic and flirty story, Contractually Yours is the book for you. When wedding planner, Caroline Duplessis, arranges a meeting with Brandon D'Estrehan to discuss payment for his cancelled nuptials, she didn't think she would end up married to him. What happens now? Caroline and Brandon are a charming couple. Their marriage of convenience is romantic and touching, but commitment is never easy. I couldn't put this book down, it's such a feel good story. I enjoyed Connie Cox's writing and her characters are wonderful. I cared what happened to them. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I have to say I enjoyed this book, Caroline and Brandon's marriage is perfect on paper but when feelings become involved will the love they have for each other be enough for will stipulations put in the marriage contract be an end all.
I really liked Caroline she knows what she wants and tries so damn hard to make Brandon happy and get to know the real him. Brandon finds himself falling for Caroline but he tends to be standoffish and even self serving at times. He does have his reasons for being that way.
I felt for Caroline when she made the decision to leave Brandon, I also applauded him when he finally went after her.
The secondary characters are great and added to the story and growth of the characters.
Overall a great quick read which leaves you satisfied.
Heartwarming, sweet, funny – this book has it all! I will definitely be adding Connie Cox to my list of favorite romance writers. This is a story about a rich businessman who wants to marry for convenience. He ends up talking his wedding planner into marrying him after cancelling his first wedding - they of course, end up falling in love. The only reason I’m not giving this book a five star rating is because the ending felt so abrupt – it need another chapter or two. All in all a great book and I would recommend it!
A wonderful, modern romance, short story. This well written story will have you smiling and occasionally chuckling as the two main characters learn that they really are made for each other. Yes its boy with dark and haunted past who is closed off and untrusting paired with girl who is so nice she won't even correct what her supposed friends are saying about her, but she brings warmth to the story and to her man. With any luck we will see a continuation with Ursula and/or Jack's story.

Brandon has just called off his marriage. Caroline is the wedding planner. Brandon's ex fiancé check bounced. With the loss of the money the future of Wedding Divine and her parents home is very bleak. Out of desperation Caroline goes to see Brandon and they mutually agree to a business arranged marriage. Will it work out or in 6 months will Caroline be not only free but debt free also. I really loved this book. The Garden District in New Orleans is a favorite setting of mine. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

This is the first story by Connie Cox that I have read. I do like the marriage of convenience type stories and this one was right up my alley. I liked Caroline and Brandon (even though Brandon could be kind of a jerk at times). Although, the timeframe of the story was relatively short, I thought that the relationship was believable. This will be a story that I re-read when I am looking for a fun ready.
I liked the premise of this story and the characters involved. I enjoyed reading this book, however, when I started to read Chapter 8 I immediately realized it was a duplicate of Chapter 7. Hopefully, it was only the book I received that had this major error. Other than this and a couple of proofreading errors I do recommend this book and this author. I would definitely read other books by Connie Cox.
Okay so yes this has been done before. Rich guy blackmails sweet innocent into marriage of convenience and they end up falling for each other. Nothing new here and yet… still a fun escape. Brandon is troubled yet hot, Caroline is sweet and adorable and the secondary characters are fun. What’s not to love? I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest review.
this was a short book but i still enjoyed the story and for once a short book did not feel rushed like some of the important things were being left out. the story felt complete. it was a sweet if not impractical love story... it was great
I liked this book a lot. It flowed well and there was just enough romance, It is light, breezy, and charming. Does Ursula get her story too? She is a hoot! *** I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest review. ***
I really loved this book. it was such a great story. it was funny and heartwarming. I love a great romance book and this definitely fit the bill. I didn't want it to end.
Contractually Yours by Connie Cox is a short standalone novella that has you hooked from the very first page. The characters were amazing and you could feel their emotions throughout the whole book. The story was not like one I had read before and that was part of why it was so good.
