When I took a job as a bartender at Hanson's to help pay for my classes, the last thing I expected to find was Kale Wilder. He's sexy, smart, and he makes me smile and laugh faster than anyone ever has. More importantly, he makes me believe in Mr. Right.
But Kale came to the wrong place at the wrong time, because someone else has his eyes on me. Someone who watches my every move.
Kale's the only one I want, but the more I feel for him, the more I fear for my safety. Because the other guy is getting closer and doesn't want to share. He's made it clear if he can't have me, no one can.
This is a New Adult novel intended for mature readers (18+).
USA Today Bestselling Author. Elle Jordan is the mastermind behind all kinds of things that need masterminds. …okay, not really, but she IS the mastermind behind…something. Her name, maybe.
Elle lives in the south, about an hour from the Happiest Place on Earth (aka Disney), drinks enough Mtn. Dew to keep the company in business, and has four lovable (read: evil and conniving) pets. She’s also the secret, evil alter-ego of another name. She’d tell you that other name, but then it wouldn’t be a secret.
When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found on Facebook, Twitter, or with Photoshop open, making covers for books she doesn’t have enough time to write.
1. What would you do if someone was watching you? 2. You know who it is, but you can't prove it. 3. And even when you can, no one believes you. 4. Do you suck it up and hope he disappears? 5. Or do you fight back?
Ally, live in a small town where everyone no everyone else's business. She works in a bar and lives right across the street from it. She know's all the regulars and vice versa.
But when one of the regulars, starts paying a little too much attention to her. She starts getting scared. When she tell hers boss about her fears, he brushes it off and tells her, she's overreacting.
The only person who believes her is Kale.
Kale walks in to Ally's life with his bad boy swagger and his sweet charm. When Ally tells him of her stalker he doesn't hesitate, he believes her. And he will do whatever it takes to protect her.
The stalking escalates to a point where Ally is too scared to leave her own home. It seems the whole town is against her. Her stalker is a respected member of the community, while she has only been around for a few months.
What I liked Ally is a normal girl, she goes to college works in the evenings. Seeing as she works at a bar she's used to come on's from the customers. But when one of those customers starts acting differently, she knows the difference.
Her stalker isn't ugly or grotesque looking, he's a normal looking guy with abnormal thoughts. And because of this the rest of the community takes his side.
I would have liked a POV from the stalker, I love getting inside the villains head.
What didn't work for me Ally may have been a bit too hard on Kale at times, this annoyed me. She was sometime hypocritical expecting him to jump every time she called but she didn't reciprocate. What I mean to say is she could be angry at him, but not the other way around. Their relationship felt a bit rushed, but it didn't bother me too much.
And lastly the ending felt a bit abrupt.
Otherwise this was an engaging read with my favourite ingredients. A little bit of mystery, a creepy villain and good dose of romance with some angst thrown in!

I really hate giving books low reviews. I feel like it's just wrong because these authors but their blood, sweat and tears into these novels and I'm degrading them by saying they weren't any good. However, I do feel like they need to know the truth.
This book was all over the place. I really don't like whiney heroines. And I despise whiney heroes. And this book had both. Ally and Kale both got on my nerves on equal measures.
Ally is being stalked by a bar patron, Earl, who it seems everyone and their mother in the town know, and she's freaked out. She tries talking to people about it, but they think she's over-analyzing things. Ok, first off, if I was feeling that strongly about this man stalking me, I would have found another job. Second, I would have went straight to the police and gave them a heads up. Couple weeks pass by and she gets into a relationship (if that's what you wanna call it) with Kale and she thinks that he can stop all of this and protect her because he has a cop friend. Well, it doesn't work and some bad shit happens. That about sums up the book.
Kale, the hero, made me feel like all he wanted from Ally was sex. She was scared, he initiated sex. She was sad, initiated sex. She was mad, well, you get the picture. The author made the whole book around those two having sex or them fighting with one another, not really giving Earl a bigger story-line. I still don't really know why he was into her.
I could go on and on about the things I didn't like about this book. It was almost a DNF for me. It would have been if it wasn't for the fact I wanted to know what all happened with Earl. I skimmed A LOT! :(
I found this book on amazon, while I was scanning for Crazy Beautiful Love. And I just had this feeling I have to get my hands on it. And I am so glad , I got it. It was really good ....
The conversations are so witty and funny in the beginning , I was smiling even when my jaw was hurting. It grew serious as the pace picked up , but so does my likeness for Kale ...
Kale is such a darling , he is sweet, he is so witty , he is funny , caring , protective , without being the aplha male , he is just so damn good ...
Ally is really smart and strong girl , she trusts her instincts , when everyone thinks its nothing serious , she does take calculative steps .
The stalking thing really creeps me out, and makes the hair at ma neck stand up straight ,I am glad how the author writes about it , making it real ,and not turning it into a full on action drama thing, coz in reality its the small things that takes place around you , that usually goes unnoticed.
All in all , it was good one , with right proportions of fun, romance and thriller ... I loved it , especially Kale <3 ...
WOW, this book is awesome! Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I love Ally who is a student and also works at a bar at night so she would be able to pay for school. Ally has a stalker who is following her everywhere but no one will help her because she doesn't have proof. She meets Kale at the bar, and he ends up being her protector, lover, and supporter. I was cheering for Ally and Kale through the whole book. I feel that the author Elle Jordan, has done a wonderful job with this book and how she pulls in such an emotional situation with Ally having a stalker and what Ally has to go through. I is really emotional and makes us realize that it could happen to anyone at anytime. I love their friends and really hopes that Elle writes another book with the same characters. I would love to read more about Ally, Kale, and their friends.

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait for the next one... More please!
I REALLY loved this book!!! The characters are very well written and engaging. There's a ton of suspense with a bit of romance and action thrown in. The editing was impeccable and it was really easy to read. This book illustrates every woman's nightmare vividly alongside every woman's dream. The contrast between the two is very intriguing... too bad not every girl with a stalker also finds a knight in shining armor. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with how well this book kept my interest without all the cross genre bits :) It has been ages since i read straight thriller/suspense and if it was all like this I would read way more :) I can't wait to read more from this great author!!!
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy suspenseful romantic thrillers where the identify of the bad guy is murky at best and the newly adult heroine learns to trust herself through the horror and uncertainty :)
I absolutely loved this book! Great story line, characters you totally become invested in & its incredibly well written. It is and easy read.....as in great story flow and a believable plot line.....I didn't want to put it down! Elle tells a story that is both heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time......definitely make sure you have a box of tissues handy! This is a great stand alone novel and it is wrapped up well at the end. There's no "what the hell? Where's the ending?" feeling when you finish reading that you get with a lot of writers who don't know how to actually "end" a story. I can't wait to read more from this author and see what she comes up with next!
I loved everything about this book. It keeps you on your toes the whole time. I completely fell in love with Kale..I so want to steal him away. I hope there will be another book about Kale and Ally. I highly recommend this book to everyone..It is an awesome read
'The air in the room became thick and hot. It made me dizzy and breathless. I didn't fall for quick and easy words like a gullible teen, but man I was falling for his.'
My thoughts
I saw this book on NetGalley and thought it sounded interesting so I requested a copy to read. I was lucky enough to be approved and started reading it right away. This definitely isn't your typical love story; it's not all cheesy pick up lines and hearts, as there is a real element of danger to this story.
Earl, a regular customer at work, spends every night just staring at Ally. He doesn't talk to her, he just stares at her. As he's known to everybody in the small town, Ally finds it hard to make people believe that he's actually a threat to her. One person that does believe her though, is Kale. As soon as Ally and Kale meet, there's a spark between them. Their romance does seem to develop very quickly, but it also wasn't the main focal point of the story for me.
There's real conflict in this book, as Ally is falling in love and should be happy, but being stalked by Earl is always on her mind and makes it impossible for her to just enjoy falling for Kale. This is supposed to be an exciting time for her but the threat from Earl is always at the forefront of her mind.
Of course, she's lucky she has Kale, as not every woman that's stalked is lucky enough to have somebody to protect them. Having Kale around should make her feel more at ease, knowing that he's there and willing to protect her from Earl. But the stalking seems to get worse as she starts to spend more time with Kale and he can't be there to protect her all the time. Spending time with Kale provides a distraction from worrying about Earl, but as soon as he's gone, the fear sets back in.
I really enjoyed reading this story as it had everything that makes a book exciting. It had the romance aspect with the lovely Kale, who's funny, kind and protective over Ally, although he's not possessive which is a plus. It also has the element of danger that keeps the reader in suspense and waiting to see what happens, as well as a bit of action thrown in later on in the story. Overall, I thought it was a great story and I'd definitely recommend it to lovers of romance and thrillers.
Ally is a young non-dating college student focused on her schooling. She works her tail off in a bar to be able to afford to live alone. She loves her job at the bar but is uneasy about this guy Earl who is often there; he just won’t stop staring at her. Every person from her boss to her friends thinks she is over reacting. One night leaving work she sees Earl’s truck sitting in the parking lot of the bar and he’s in it staring at her. In the process of freaking out and high tailing it back into the bar she bumps into Kale, who becomes her Knight in shining armor or make that leather jacket. Earl’s stalking starts escalating, it seems that Earl wants Ally all to himself. I fell in love with all the characters especially Ally…she was young but she had her priorities straight and she did everything right that you want to see in a situation like this. Kale was everybody’s dream of a rescuer…I went from really liking him to disliking him and then at the end he was just ok for me. Earl and everything he represents in this story just really gave me a sick feeling. I loved Ally and Kale’s friends they were great supporting characters. The author did an outstanding job with the story line. I REALLY LOVED this book! I would recommend this new adult book to someone looking for a suspenseful romantic book to fall in love with.

Holy hell this book was amazballs!!! Elle Jordan brought every girls dream of Mr. Right and every girl's nightmare of being stalked together and created one hell of a story. I was totally sucked in from chapter one and couldn't stop thinking about it till I finished. All of the main characters are super relatable and multidimensional. Earl the antagonist is pure creepiness. Any girl who's ever been the victim of a stalker will totally be able to relate to the cops be ineffective and the people around you being passive. I just wanted to hug both Ally and Kale. I was super impressed by this and can't wait to see what Elle comes up with next.
Wow. This has to be the most lame fucking book I've ever read. I hate rating a book 1 star, but in this case I felt it to be unavoidable. I suffered through the first 30% and debating on quitting on it, but for some unknown reason I just kept going. My mistake. The characters is this read are by far the most "card board" type characters I've ever experienced. It was brutal. Throw in a lame ass plot. Immature characters that never at any time feel realistic. Some insta-love. And this hot mess is what you get. Just wow. It was bad. Can't believe this cost $3.99.

Infatuated is unlike any other book I’ve ever read before. It’s a standalone, which is getting hard to find these days. It was definitely romance suspense. The suspense was intense though. I was getting thoroughly freaked out by the creepiness of the situation. The only thing that made it better was Kale *swoon*. Like Ally, I too felt safe whenever he was around. But, I had to keep reading until the end. I had to. It’s gripping and intense. It looks like a short read, but man does it take you for a ride.
“Are you always this persistent?” “When it’s worth it? Always.” “And after knowing me ten minutes, you think it’s worth it?” “I think it’s worth finding out.”
The blurb pretty much says it all. Ally lives by herself in a small town where she is a college student and works at a bar. A dude named Earl stalks her. As in sits in the bar and watches her work while never saying anything, calls her making heavy breathing noises, sits in his truck outside of wherever she is, sometimes leaves pictures, and worst of all are the “mine” notes. This guy is old enough to be her dad, and she’s never talked to him. Even worse, apparently the whole town knows him and they all refuse to believe that he is a TOTAL CREEPER.
“Do you need the words? Is that it? You’re my friend, my girl, my lover. However you want to say it, you belong to me, Ally. Tell me you don’t love me. Tell me you’re not mine, that I’m not yours. Tell me you don’t want me.” “I don’t know what you want.” “You. Only you.”
Kale barges into her life, and things change even more. Both for the better and the worse. Worse, because Earl gets more aggressive in his creeper stalker-ness. Better, because, well it’s Kale. He seemed too good to be true in the beginning. He basically became her knight in shining armor, her safety blanket. And he’s gorgeous. Unbelievably gorgeous. Also, those sex scenes? Enough to make me melt. The things he says and does? Made me fall in love with him. Well, most of the time at least.
“I love you. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I love you. And If I’m being honest, I think I started falling in love with you the first day I met you…For the big things, the little things. Mostly the little things, because they’re the ones people take for granted. They’re the ones that add up and make the big picture.”
As her debut novel, I think Elle Jordan did a pretty good job. The plot was interesting and unique and the characters (especially Kale) were loveable. I did have some hang ups though. I still don’t really get why Earl was really stalking her in the first place. It kinda explains, but then again, not really. Also, there were times where I wanted to strangle slash punch Ally and Kale in the face. Ally was stubborn as hell, which I normally find endearing since it’s a trait that I have, but she was stubborn to the point of stupidity sometimes and it cost her. Also, I didn’t like that Kale didn’t know how to communicate his feelings. I mean, yeah he’s a guy, but ugh, there were so many times where Ally would give him the cold shoulder or kick him out because he withheld information. I wanted to junk-punch all the townspeople who didn’t believe Ally, but hey, that’s just life sometimes. Other than all that, I really enjoyed this form of torture. The writing was captivating. And I’ll just say that I fell for Kale and his leather jacket hard one more time. I would love to see what Elle Jordan can come up with the more that she writes.
“I don’t know where things will go between us, and I know it’s not going to be easy for either of us, but I love you, Ally. I love you. And I’ll prove it to you until you believe it. You have my heart, and I kind of need it to live, so I go where it goes.”
Infatuated hit all the right notes! Well done Elle Jordan you made my week. This book felt real, it was funny and scary but most of all I believed it, I felt it, I was freaking there!
So Ally's got a creep on her tail and the love of her life standing in front of her, naturally problems on all sides. Was any of it smooth sailing or worked out way too good to be true, no!
Her relationship with Kale was messy yet sweet and funny and he was the type of lead male that you don't find in many YA books, real. Kale was real and so not perfect but genuine with mistakes and wants that were honest and easy to believe. He wasn't some mysterious to hot for thou kinda make believe I often find it books, like the author has jammed all the things a girl wants in a guy into a completely unbelievable package of devilishly handsome male... he was the cute guy with normal flaws, I like cute guys with flaws it's a cherry on the top when they make you laugh out loud until you might possibly pee yourself. Props to you kale, props to you.
Now Ally! Wow was she awesome, strong stubborn didn't take crap from no one! She was a total nerd yet knew how to have a freaking conversation and give the f-off vibe to creepers hitting on her at the bar. Total respect for that girl. At first I was worried we'd have the whole, oh but I'm not good for him crap going on or she'd be as boring as ply wood because it was obvious she was a complete recluse but nope! Totally not the case! Thank god...or more likely Elle Jordan.
The banter was ace! It just got better and better. Sigh, I love me some good banter.
The relationship were all real the characters had dimension and I loved Ally's friends, especially Max! And there wasn't some massive build up in Ally and Kales relationship they fell into it easily, I totally clapped my hands when they had their first date. At that point I knew I loved this book.
Earl was a freaking creep! And I'm sorry that Elle Jordan had real life experience that she was able to transfer into this book. No one should ever have to feel like that but I'm happy this book had real life reactions to these situations which might be due to Elle's experiences. I would never have thought to keep a journal of all and any run ins or sightings with a stalker even if it could be just coincidence and they weren't the only good tips. Now I have an idea of what to do if I or someone I know ever feels like something isn't right or goes through something like this. So thank you Elle for sharing and reminding us that bad things happen for no other reason then being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Possibly without even knowing it.
I'm also really happy Ally decided to leave because I feel in a lot if books like this the authors forget that humans are made to survive, to thrive not sit and take shit like this until they snap, even people that feel they have no options left still have a drive for self preservation no matter how small. I felt like jumping for joy when she chose to go because if it were me at that point I would have left too, I might have even done it earlier but it was obvious why she hadn't.
So this book for me was a 10/10 anything I might have even had a teeny tiny problem with was forgotten two words later and therefor not big enough to gripe about :) I recommend you read!
I was infatuated with Infatuated…I couldn’t put it down as I was compelled to keep reading. This book sucks you in and keeps you engrossed until the very end. By definition infatuated is only an intense but short-lived passion or admiration. Earl / Ally / Kale are more than that.
Earl, “He’s particular…and maybe a little peculiar.”-admitted by Laura. “He had no problem staring at me with that creepy gaze-like now-but he couldn’t be bothered saying a thing? Creep.” Ally makes her thoughts on Earl’s infatuated gazes throughout the book known to the reader and it filled me with a sense of impending dread. Between his staring and stalking the books progresses quickly with the intensity of fear that Earl and his actions that are later reveal.
Ally is a college student who is working at a friend of her dad’s bar in the city she decided to move to out from under her parents to go to school and strike out on her own. The bar is also where she meets two men who are infatuated with her. “He was back. He always came back.”Ally’s story progresses terrifyingly quickly with an intermittence of sweetness. The conflict of emotions throughout the book had me keep going to find out whom and what was going to happen to whom. This is a must read from cover to cover, beginning to end, I couldn’t put it down and loved every moment. Friendship, Protector, Stalker, Lover, Death, and Moving on…this book has it all.
Kale, *swoon*, is a ruggedly handsome mechanic with ‘dark, short and curly hair’ and ‘blue, with just a flash of green…pretty eyes.’ He is sweet, funny, sexy, charming, strong, handsome, and a Knight in Shining Armor. He is infatuated with Ally and has been hurt before. The speed things are moving between these two you can’t help but wonder who is more dangerous. Earl or Kale? With comments of possession like “MINE”, is he really the lesser of the two evils?
Maxine is Ally’s best friend of ten years and college classmate. She knows Ally’s drive to achieve the best scores in school and her nerdiness. Max and Ally’s friendship is easy, funny, and full of quips and teasing about school, boys and life. You get right away that their friendship is a “BFD – Big Fu This is a must read!! I would recommend to any romance lover, suspense/thriller, and maybe even some mystery readers who enjoy a little romance now and then.

Ally/Kale (location 687 via Kindle)
“Why do you call me that? Ally Cat.” “Alley cats are fierce, and sometimes a little scary if you mess with them.” He grinned. “I figure you’re definitely both.”
Ally and Kale had great chemistry right from the start. I loved their banter and playfulness. I loved Kale. He was very real. I loved that he wasn't flawless.
He stood again to strip his own jeans and nearly tumbled over. "Sh*t. Pretend that didn't happen."
But near the end his character confused me. He did so much to reassure Ally and to be there for her, but then he sort of pulled away. I didn't really understand or think that fit his character up until that point. But I LOVED the ending. When everything with her stalker came to a head and he finally made contact. I just loved the story from there on out.

I just finished Infatuated by Elle Jordan. I have to say, this is one of the best books I have read recently. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Jordan. I was not in the least disappointed. This book has a love affair that is worth the envy, as well as a creepy suspense side that always keeps you guessing what is going to happen next. This book captivated me to the point where I thought I was sucked into the book and living Ally's life. Ally (aka Ally Cat) is a bartender who has a regular costumer who sits in her bar just staring at her, never saying a word to her. When she meets and starts dating Kale Wilder, a mechanic, Ally's stalker gets even more aggressive. Ally's relationship with Kale is one I am quite sure every reader could relate to; whether it is because they have a relationship like it, or because they wish they had one like it. I love how protective Kale is over Ally, especially when it comes to Earl. One of my favorite things about Ally and Kale is that they can always share a good laugh with each other, even in the most stressful of times. When they break up, I could feel the pain and confusion that Ally was going through. There is a turn in the book that I won't tell you about because I was shocked about what had happened. I want you to be just as surprised by what you read. While I was surprised by this twist, I couldn't help but to feel concerned and afraid for Ally. Ms. Jordan did an excellent job writing this book. It's pages are full of suspense. The love story she portrays is so realistic, I felt as if I was Ally. The range of emotions this book has made me feel like I was going to get emotional whiplash. So, with all of this being said, I warn you ahead of time so you can prepare for your own emotional whiplash. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Happy reading!

This was a romantic suspense story which kept me hooked all the way through. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting.
Ally is a girl being stalked by a creepy, awful man and a lot of people don't believe her. I had a difficult time connecting with ally if I'm honest. I can safely say I felt sorry for her and wished people would start believing her. I was so glad she had her friends and Kale's support but I couldn't connect with her properly, I'm not sure why, maybe there wasn't enough description of her and her feelings, but it didn't stop me from wanting the best outcome for her.
I liked Kale a lot, even though quick romances annoy me in books, I couldn't help but love how protective he was straight away. He was ally's knight in shining armour and he was funny and sexy as well, which always helps ;) the few sex scenes which were quite hot, also helped to make him a great book boyfriend.
The plot of the story was great. The first page sucked you in straight away and you knew something big was going to happen and waiting for it had me biting my nails while I kept turning the pages. Even though you knew the stalker from the beginning it didn't take away the enjoyment of the story, especially since so many people wouldn't believe her, so you were constantly on edge not knowing if he would get away with it or not. The epilogue was not one of my favourites but it wasn't bad either. It's my personal preference because I love epilogues with a lot of detail and a big HEA but to be fair to the author this one was realistic and it didn't leave me feeling that the story wasn't complete.
Overall a good suspense story which I couldn't put down and I would 100% recommend this book.
This book really drew me in, the stalking starts pretty much from page one, but it's so creepy because there is nothing that Ally can prove, and of course everyone knows Earl and thinks he's a great guy, making her even more of a victim.
It's cleverly written, sadly at the end of the book you see why, the author has experienced nine months of stalking herself. As the book progresses you can see Ally start to draw into herself, and despite having some great friends, she's very much alone in dealing with this situation.
Kale seems like perfect boyfriend material, too good to be true in a way sometimes, but, all is not as it seems. This is certainly a book of ups and downs, of extremes.
Towards the end of the book there's a scene where Ally pretty much gives up, because she loves Kale and her friends so much, it had me in tears. She's a lovely character, hard working, conscientious, a great friend, there's nothing not to like about her, but for some reason she's on this monsters radar, she deserves so much more, but she's being dealt a crappy hand by life.
The most frustrating parts of the book for me were the denials that this situation was real from both her employer and other people in the pub, because they were friends of Earl and couldn't believe he would do it. It was just harmless. Even when the police became involved you didn't feel it was being taken seriously.
This book keeps you turning the page, dreading what's going to happen next, willing things not to happen even though you know they're inevitable.
It's a really well written book that handles a horrible situation in. Realistic and honest way. It wasn't the ending I expected, but it was the right one.
I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Ally is starting new living by herself in a new town, working at a bar owned by a family friend, going to school. Her life is boring and simple, but she doesn't mind it. There is one aspect that she does mind, Earl. He shows up at the bar every night that she works and just watches her. It creeps her out but there is nothing she can do about it. One night she meet Kale, and it is almost fate that they meet when they do. They hit it off and Kale approaches Earl telling him to back off. Kale become a staple in Ally's life and even when things get bad with Earl he is there.
Reading about Ally and Kale was perfect. Their relationship was the best and Kale was just adorable. He knew all the right things to do and say and appeared to be the perfect boyfriend. I thought their chemistry was written beautifully and the witty remarks they each made were really enjoyable. This story had some serious parts and I thought the author did a good job of mixing serious and not so serious aspects in the book to keep it light but still emotional. It was thrilling, I just needed to know what was going to happen next. I read almost the whole book in one sitting because of it. A real page turner for those who love romances with a hint of mystery and suspense!
Wow! This book was so good. I couldn't stop crying. I really just don't know how to explain this book without giving anything away, so there may be a few small spoilers.
First, Ally was great, she didn't annoy me and cling on to people when she wasn't wanted and she stood up for herself (even if she did cry later). She told Kale how she felt about him straight up, and when he didn't return those feelings she carried on with her life instead of always trying to call him and text him.
I felt so scared for her about Earl. We were told Earl was the stalker from the start so there's no guessing game in the book. He was a sick man and how know one else noticed is beyond me. I did really want to know what it was about Ally that he choose to stalk her, which unfortunately was never told.
Kale! I have to admit he annoyed me at one point, he just sounded like such a jerk and he was practically stringing Ally along, wether he knew it or not. But he did care for Ally so well (when he wasn't in his jerk mood towards the end of the book). He was sweet and thoughtful. They seemed like the perfect couple.
Thats all I can say about this book. I think it's one of those books that you simply need to just read for yourself. Overall, I'm going to give the book 5 stars because it really was a great book
4.5 Stars This is my first book by Elle Jordan. I loved it. It is well written, moves along at a great pace- which isn’t that what you want from a thriller? Well, really from any book?? This book has it all- suspense, romance, hot guys, funny friends and a super creeper…well maybe you don’t want the creeper…
Kale- definitely a swoon worthy book boyfriend- he is sex on a stick. He has some secrets and can be an ass- but who wants perfection. The connection between the two of them -wow! His fear may hold him back though.
Ally- she is awesome. So much sass, she is used to taking care of herself- but the situation she finds herself in is so out of her norm that she freaks. And doesn’t know who to trust.
Both of them are absolutely stupid at times- like want to shake stupid. But they are young and the intensity of their connection scares them.
My teeny tiny bone to pick is this- if a young woman is concerned about creepy stalker guy-WHY doesn’t anyone take it seriously?? Small town or not- really? It helped with the story, but I hope that is not a reality many women have to face.
And the ending-KUDOS to Elle Jordan. It was perfect. Perfect for the story, perfect for Ally and Kale.
I loved this book. Infatuated touches on some serious issues. Creepy Earl is a dangerous stalker. This story deals with the issues of Ally's stalker. It's also a sweet story, were we get to see Ally and Kale's relationship develop.
Infatuated is well written and has wonderful characters. I loved all the characters.
I know we are not suppose to to like Earl but Elle Jordan did a great job writing his character. I loved Kale. This was this first time I heard Kale as a name but I'm definitely adding him to my book boyfriend list. My favorite quote about Kale's name is "You had a vegetable talk to him?" Ally is a great character too. She's strong, brave, and never had self pity moments.
Even the supporting characters were so well written the seemed real. Even though I was frustrated with Dave, the police, and Ally’s neighbor's’ reaction to Ally telling them about Creepy Earl, their reactions were completely believable.
I would definitely recommend this book. It's a great read.
** I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. **
Ally is a college student working in a bar owned by a family friend and lives in the apartments across the street. Earl, a patron of the bar and apparently the town's perfect citizen, has taken an unnatural interest in Ally. While she is trying to avoid Earl, Ally meets Kale, a leather jacket wearing mechanic. The two begin a relationship even though Kale is keeping secrets about his past. Kale believes that Earl is stalking Ally while the rest of the town doesn't. Ally decides to leave town and everyone in it, including Kale, behind. But, Earl has other plans for Ally.
This book was a great read. You knew who Ally's stalker was from the beginning. The dramatic part was waiting for someone to take her seriously and punish Earl. The relationship between Kale and Ally, while juvenile at times, demonstrates two people trying to love who are scared of their pasts and their presents. The ending was a perfect way to end the story. I really don't think there was another way to end it that would do it justice.
Not really sure I could give you a reason for why I purchased this book. At the beginning of each week, I usually purchase 5 or 6 books to read. This one kept coming up as "suggested" so I don't know if it was the cover, or the fact that it kept popping up or the fact that I had consumed an entire bottle of wine at that moment, but for some reason I did. I read all my other books that I bought...I wasn't real sure if would ever get around to actually reading this one...for some reason I just kept putting it off. Let me say it was pleasant surprise. Yes, bot Ally and Kale were frustrating at times, but in a good way. Right after finishing it I was kind of irritated because I wanted to know the motive behind earl's stalking...but then I realized....there doesn't have to be one. He was obviously a psychopath. So, in my opinion, it didn't lessen the book in any way. I really liked it and would totally recommend it to friends. Well. Done.
4.5 stars: Quite good not completely predictable. Good quality writing - although university aged people featured it was certainly not juvenile. It had me interested and completely switched on to the book. One major feature: at times you would feel like you could predict what was going to happen but it did not. Typically you would expect a character to weaken and change direction from their original beliefs but, no, the characters were quite strong. I would recommend this book to my friends. It was an easy read but for those under 25 it would probably rock your world and be a fairly intense read - so go for it!
Spoiler: For the author... The random punching from the other girl? Strange
I really like the beginning and I liked the ending...somewhat. It was too rushed of an ending and it lacked in suspense for me. The middle... was just a snooze zone. It had moments of greatness and frankly I think the main issue I had was with all the suppporting characters and Ally's lack of committing to the fact she was being stalked and just made excuses.. this was more in the beginning.. but still. It rankled and it was just a put off. You're being stalked yet you're making excuses.. I get denial, but seriously grow up
