This book takes taking nothing seriously very serious. (yeah, I had to read it twice to understand what I meant too). It's spooftastic, caricature laden, chock-full of every trope under the sun, a hilarious parody that pokes good natured fun at all the things m/m books seem to love to incorporate over and over again in all the books.
In a friendly way it exaggerates everything from growling with a capital G by an Alpha with a capital A to the “Homosapia County police. The fact that, miraculously and very conspicuously, every single officer who worked there was gay made the Hall of Head a double entendre and funny as hell.”
Ram Rage and his partner Blake are the cops that are going to try and solve the murder that was perpetrated at the Sew What and Kory is the prime suspect.
Which brings Kory in to Ram's life and the Alpha (with a capital growly A) doesn't know what hit him.
Murder, mayhem, inept cops, lube, unicorns, applesauce, never ending hot water heaters, and a green-eyed man everyone (and I mean everyone ) loves and puntastic craziness ensues. Oh and not to forget a freaky plant with his own POV.
To enjoy this story you have to just let go and take nothing seriously and love a jammed packed story of jokey silliness. It was fun seeing what OTT satire was coming next, every trope was covered, sometimes to an extreme. And the book doesn't just make fun of all the ever present and much loved 'typical' and 'stereotypical' things in the m/m genre and in the books I've read and loved, it also makes fun of itself.
“I’m in charge here,” Ram growled. “We’re going to do this by the book. You can’t just skip pages of the gay manual, we do all the steps, in order, so we get the full experience.”
I found myself nodding and smiling, thinking oh yes that in every other book I've read and then I'd read on and nod and say OH YES riiight that is also a must-have in an m/m story. A lot of the things I complain about or bemoan in books were so cleverly exaggerated that I had to laugh at myself a little for usually being annoyed by them. I've also never read any of it quite like these authors portray it. I can say despite reading a lot, the way this was done is definitely unique. At times it was a bit overwhelming and it took me a chapter or two to really get what it was all about, but certain things were just so well done and impressively ridiculous that I just had to be amused. Plus there was one of my favorite things EVER in this book, I don't want to say what, but it's no wonder everyone loves Kory. I also have to add my vocabulary for the word 'butthole' has been expanded (pun intended) by leaps and bounds…so many different ways of saying it. I'm in awe.
I really don't want to give anything away, this book has to be read to be believed.

I got all the jokes!! Yeah!! This was a seriously over the top funny spoof on our favorite m/m romances. I am so glad I read it and seriously, there better be a next book, Adrian with two A's needs his story told! What a treat. Kory and Ram forever!

5 Amazing Stars!!!
I am not even sure where to being with this review. I actually had to take a day to digest this story to write a review.
This book really reminds me of the Scary movies that make fun on all the horror movies. This book makes fun of ( in a nice way) pretty much everything most authors include in a m/m romance.
This book has to be one of the most outrageous, ridiculous, over the top, dramatic, and hilarious books I have ever read. And let me just name you a few reasons why.
1.) We have Ram Rage the alpha male police officer that actually growls all the time and is obsessed with applesauce.
2.)Then we have Kory Pleyes your cute twinkish guy that everybody is falling head over heals for ( and boy was that out of control lol).
3.)The side characters we meet are just as bat shit crazy (you won't believe it until you read it).
4.)They live in Homosapia County where the whole damn police station is gay.
5.) We had unicorns (a well-hung rainbow-haired unicorn, and pink-haired unicorn with boobs). And one unicorn I didn't see coming.
6.)We even get a POV from a freaking house plant.
7.) This book give us every name imaginable for a guys butthole ( and some I am not even sure how they came up with).
8.) This book pretty much covers every book story line there is.
And boy does this list go on and on. All I can really say is anybody that is a fan of m/m and needs a laugh should read this book.

The biggest thing to remember about this book is that it is parody. It is a book that is not meant to be taken seriously! We have the uber-growling Alpha male, the beloved by everyone mate and unicorn!! The book is a light-hearted look at the cliches, the phrases (how many ways CAN you say ass? A whole helluva lot of them!) and the characteristics that we hate to love (love to hate?) in romance books. Sexy romance, in particular. Yes, sometimes I had to remind myself- this is a parody, it isn't serious, but all in all, it was funny, doesn't take itself too heavily and it made me smile.
And it has unicorn. And a good reason why everyone loves Kory...

A Gay Romance had moments of brilliance!! Layered under puns, satire, spoof and raunchy humor was insightful commentary on all the tropes found in gay romance today. There were so many moments I found my self going “I see what you did there!” and laughing out loud.
However, this was not the book I expected. I hadn’t read any reviews and so was looking forward to a humorous novel, not a parody. And subtle this book wasn’t. It was a club over the head. Everything was in your face, cheesy, and overwhelming at times. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get through the first chapter. It was over the top awful, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. I powered through and found the story smoothed out after that first bit and was more balanced. There were twists and turns, some I figured out, others were a surprise; hot love scenes just this side of being too ridiculous; a whole cast of outrageous stereotyped characters that managed not to be flat; and an actual story.
Having read A Matter Of Time by Mary Calmes, I was able to appreciate the parallels between Ram Rage & Kory Pleyes and Sam Kage & Jory Keyes, but I think that it isn’t necessary to have done so to get the humor in their characters.
Bottom line: from a random point of view of a plant, a plethora of inventive names for an anus, and coming 22 times in one night to a enemies to lovers plot, insta-love and perfect characters every thing is covered in this book. It is not for everyone, but if you love spoofs and groaners and can get over puns, this book will entertain you!

It is meant to be taken in fun. Keep that in mind before reading it and if you get offended (or have no sense of humor) give it a pass.
This is one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. From the perfect Kory to the badass alpha Ram Rage to every other perfect character in between. Throw in murder victims with bad hair, a kidnapping, and lots of hot sex, and you have one hell of a fantastic book.
I can't wait to read the next in this series.

This book is hilarious. It's a parody of a gay romance, with all the clichés revisited and room for ridicule. The authors must have had fun writing this.
The writing is quite good. There's imagery and sincerity in the feelings and emotions. A pleasure to read.
The sex scenes are by far the longest and wordiest I've ever read yet still remain hot and sexy even if peppered with jokes.
The funniest gay romance I've read in a long time. Also probably one of the sweetest, which is great because most parodies are just that: jokes after more jokes and no sincere love sentiments. This one succeeds in making me laugh out loud and touching my heart simultaneously.

Initially it was funny, but in Chapter 3 already everything sounded worn-out and boring. it happens that if everything is parodied all the time it ends up losing its wit.
Besides, I hate obtuse characters when they should not be it, and Ram is insufferably obtuse!

You know all of those things in books that have you rolling your eyes, groaning, laughing at the absurdity, wanting to chuck your ereader, and that sometimes even force people to DNF a book? This book takes all of those silly cliches and makes a hilarious, sweet and silly story that had me chuckling, snorting and totally amused throughout. This book should not be taken seriously and will not be for everyone, but if you are one of those people who cringes and complains to your friends over the silly stupids, this is the book for you.
Ram Rage is so alpha male that he’s kind of a psycho. He growls, grunts, rages, hates everything that doesn’t fit his world view, and is completely obsessed with apple sauce.
Kory cannot even walk down the street without being propositioned and fawned over. Everything is easy and often free and he has no problem talking about how good looking, charming, and fortunate he is.
Kory is hiding a big secret and even though there are huge clues Ram, of course, completely misreads them. I adored what Kory’s secret ended up being.
Ram doesn’t do relationships or emotions and he isn’t looking for love, but no one can resist Kory and he is almost immediately smitten and becomes dominantly possessive. Of course everyone falls in love with Kory and throws themselves at him, so he must be on guard at all times.
The villains are over the top and the interactions are exaggerated and implausible. Kory acknowledges that he seems to have extreme luck that prevents anything bad from happening to him and makes him able to survive almost anything.
I had a lot of fun with all of the things that normally drive me insane in stories. I found myself looking for the next one and finding that they had managed to hit pretty much everything that drives me bananas.
One of the very best things about this story is that within all that fun and joking were some good characters and an appealing little romance, that had some smoking hot sex. Yep, the sex scenes managed to be hot and hilarious at the same time. I liked that they set some stereotypes on their ear even as they exploited others. Their friends and partners were so much fun and fleshed out their world. I am excited to read the next book in the series.

I absolutely without doubt adored this book. It was funny and sexy and I couldn't stop giggling all the way through it. I loved the MCs, the secondary characters and everything else, but most of all I loved the writer's style. An irreverant, totally awesome read for any day of the week. Will definitely be reading it over and over again.

Why did I pick this up? Well, I saw the title and I got attracted. Then I saw the goofy guy hanging from a tree branch looking adorably gorgeous and I got curious. Last, I read the blurb: and I burst out laughing. Okay, I am intrigued.
This was a laugh from start to finish. Talk about puns, puns, and more puns thrown left, right, front, back, overhead and underneath! The name Kory Pleyes sent me to giggle as I was actually visualizing him do the nasty hehehhehehe (stop those thoughts! I meant the ballet move: plié. tsk tsk). Then there was Alpha Ram whose rage over the loss of his applesauce was just too ridiculous but very understandable especially after learning the why of it. Then of course, there was the city itself, Homosapia. That is another pun of puns and very well intended.
Thinking that Kory is the ultimate gay man here is a major mistake! There are soooooo many gay men around here I was left breathless from all of their antics and their manipulations..... it was exhausting trying to keep the giggles in. When the murder happened and the velvet got involved? Oh my, what did these two authors think: try to kill their readers?
Death by giggling.
I won't spoil the deets, there are deets galore. But know this: A Gay Romance is a romance, it is erotica, it is mystery/thriller/adventure AND melodramatic to the max! It's sickening! (go get the def for those who don't know the slang!)
One of the more relaxing ??? not sure if I could honestly say that ??? reads in a long time.

Alphas are naturally kept from lusting after men whose dick length equals their own, life threatening wounds can be healed through the power of sex, once a gay man finds his true love he may have endless orgasms and gay men will always have fresh breath no matter how many hours they’ve just spent eating ass. You know, those rules. I’m sure we’ve all read them enough times to be familiar with them by now. Just don’t break any of the rules or you may find yourself dealing with one of Homosapia’s fabulous officers of the law.

This M/M parody romance murder mystery novel is not for the newbie reader.
I just don't think that they would get all the satire on the genre although anyone that is literate with get the very abundant hilarious jokes.
I loved that the police force was all gay, trans and lesbian which made for a ridiculous place with rainbow unicorns and tape measures in the urinals. Serious laughed out a lung in the ridiculous event because all the gay folks I know don't care at all about the size of the boat, but more about its technique in the motion of the ocean.
Very funny with just enough actual story and mystery to push the reader along with Alpha growling, Police officer Ram Rage and his soon to be life partner, the sweet sexy perfect and slow moving, Kory Pleyes.
Cute summer read and perfect for a beach companion!

This isn't the best review for this book simply because I do not know where to begin (I've attempted to start the review three times now). So I'll simply say just buy it, read it, enjoy it, love the many many many different words used for arse/cock/any other body parts, marvel at a house plant, and unicorns, the name Ramuel Rodpound Rage, the wonder that is Kory, lube, a BDSM room and last but not least always remember whist your doing it 'pray to Rambo.'

So I'm gonna start off by saying, I am a huge Kyle Adams fan. I've read and loved everything he has ever written, I love his since of humor. Why in the world did I not absolutely love this book? All I can think of is, too much of a good thing, is not so good. Don't get me wrong, this book is hilarious and I LOLed a bunch of times but being a spoof/parody on gay romances in a full length novel was just too much, IMO. It was funny but didn't keep my interest, hence why it took me almost two months to read the whole thing. That all being said, I will read book 2, and I will read everything Kyle puts out there. I will still read Gina in the future as well.

This was a laugh out loud book. Don't go into it expecting a typical romantic comedy. It is an over the top parody - kind of the Scary Movie of the m/m romance genre. If you've ever cringed at the mention of winking stars and fluttering holes this is the book for you. The authors take a jab at just about every m/m romance trope out there. Even the names of the main characters, Ram Rage and Kory Pleyes, are nod to a well-loved series. Hopefully Mary Calmes is a believer in the adage that imitation is a sincere form of flattery! I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a good parody or giggles at phallic references.

Soo this was different. I was expecting humor and the book was definitely amusing, but it didn't actually make me laugh out loud. I did love the absurdity of it though, but I think I would have enjoyed it more with 100 pages less.

I never thought you could have too much humor in a story. This particular story proves that theory wrong. I know this was supposed to be campy but it failed. At the end I just wanted it to be over. Not one I would recommend.

This book definitely made me chuckle more than a few times. I never read the synopsis before I start reading so I was not expecting this m/m romance parody. It was a nice surprise.
