What happens in the coven doesn’t always stay in the coven. Emily Sullivan misses the normal days, the days of working a normal job, with a human boyfriend, and never having to worry about catching someone on fire every time she sneezed. Now, she’s undercover in New Orleans learning the practice of witchcraft from a powerful warlock, her grandfather. His coven is in trouble; fires, burglary, kidnappings… it’s Emily’s job to find out who and why before the attacks become deadly. Emily wants to take her relationship with Axle to the next level but something is holding her back. She discovers that the two are under a dark curse. Each time they get close something bad happens, and if they were to take it all the way someone could get hurt, or worse. Emily saves a helpless girl from a vampire, but no good deed goes unnoticed. The vampires of New Orleans know a big secret about Emily and they are out for blood… every last drop.
I absolutely loved this book, I read a lot of Paranormal Romance and have to say that this is one of the best series out there.
Third Bites a Charm is the third book in the Emily Sullivan Series and having read both book 1 (Dare to Bleed) and book 2 (Love Nip) this one is my favorite. The third installment in the series has Emily once again on a mission, to figure out who set her grandfathers covens club house on fire and also sabotaged them multiple times. Emily along with a few friends goes to investigate and also learn more about her powers and how to wield them. Emily gets pulled into a world of elementals, fairies and other supernatural creatures, trying to figure out the mystery of who has been behind the attacks on the coven. In addition Emily is also haunted by Vampires that have found out that her blood is the cure to vampirism, as if that weren't enough Emily also has to worry about her love life.
There are so many things that I enjoy about this series, from all of the different types of supernatural beings, the amazing and engaging storyline, the well developed characters, and the humor within the story. One of my favorite lines in Third Bites a Charm is "I have an unnatural fear of drowning in the shower." This book seriously had me rolling on the floor, tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. It also had that heat that you look for in Paranormal Romance books but wasn't overdone which I was really happy about, it added to the story versus just being about the same thing over and over again.
I cannot wait for the fourth book in the series, and I recommend this book to anyone its that good!
I really enjoyed this, the third instalment of the series (only gripe would be that there wasn't enough of Axle!!!)
There were a few typos in the book, but this is a relatively new indie author and we all make mistakes (as some of my reviews will demonstrate)and I am sure the editing will improve as her experience does so I wont lower my rating for it.
These books are a very easy read, with lots of plot twists and turns, and I am keen to learn what Emily and the Crew get up to next and am dying to meet the new little addition. I am eager to learn more about Emily's powers, to see how Axle and Emily progress with the next step in their lives. The War between witches that was built up towards then end of the book has definitely piqued my interest, and I am also intrigued as to how Terrica will fit in and can't quite decide if I trust her yet.
Mary Whitten has impressed me again. Bring on the next book!
Painful. Currently reading this book (3rd in the series) and although the plot has potential it is not getting any better. This is mainly due to the annoying petulant behaviour and dialog of preteen like characters. The inclusion of sexual content does not elevate the age group of said characters in any way.
Okay - Gave up 3/4 of the way through as I could not bear it any more. I might revisit it again in couple of months just to finish it. Complete waste of money.
