This was an okay NA contemporary romance, but I had issues with it.
Harlow was a bit of an odd character at times. She went to great lengths to stop people from thinking her a tease in high school, and then as soon as it suited her, she went to lengths to make out that she was a tease. I mean, make your mind up!
The storyline in this revolved around Harlow becoming a stripper to pay for college, even though she wanted to strip but still keep her clothes on. Yes. Seriously. She wanted to be a stripper who didn’t take her clothes off. I mean really?! And somehow this naïve, virginal girl is able to drive these guys wild, without taking any clothes off, and with little more than running her finger down her cleavage and licking her leg?! I mean she didn’t even have music picked out or a routine planned! She just did a ‘Flashdance’ with a jug of water, and boom! She’s a hit! Ugh.
I had issues with the romance too, or rather the sex scenes. I’m not going to go into details, but are all the girls in this series going to be virgins? Are all the men going to be well-endowed and happy to ram it home in one stroke? Are all the girls going to come at the slightest glance from said men?
And another thing. Breasts are breasts. They are NOT ‘girls’. Ugh. Why would you even call your breasts your ‘girls’?
The ending to this was okay, but I had guessed pretty early on who the stalker was. Can’t say I was the biggest fan of this book overall. 6 out of 10
I loved this one. Harlow is a girl down on her luck. A college student that has lost her financial aid, she needs to make some fast money. She takes a job as a stripper which is definitely not the job for her. She's a bit klutzy and she's not comfortable getting naked in a room full of people.
Cam is the hot as sin bartender at the strip club who immediately knows she's different from any girl before after being in her presence for a few minutes. This man is so swoony and sweet with an alpha edge. They are perfect for each other in every way. They support and love each other even through the hard stuff.
I've only just started reading this author and have loved every book I've read so far. She writes good heroes and heroines. Thanks to my friend Songbyrd SB for recommending this one to me.
A couple of quotes to show the awesomeness that is Cam.
“Your virginity. You didn’t give it to the wrong guy. I know we moved fast. I know you probably think I’m going to disappear like the sun on a cloudy day. But I’m not going anywhere. I’d still be here if you hadn’t given yourself to me. But you did. And you know that part is just one of the many pieces of you that I plan on claiming. Pieces that I never plan to let go of.”
"It’s just me and you right now. I’m going to take my time with you tonight. I’m going to touch you gently, not because I think you’re broken, but because to me you’re something to be cherished. And because the only way to completely chase away the dark from your mind is to fill you up so completely with light that the darkness has nowhere to hide.”
DNF @61% - I can’t keep going - too many strikes. I kinda liked the virgin stripper idea but this heroine is all over the place. Her character just doesn’t make sense to me. Her stripping is ridiculous - she has no background in dancing, but manages to transfix the men, there to see her tits, without actually taking any clothes off. 🙄 She doest even have a routine. She just makes it up as she goes along. And the H is not even the tiniest bit possessive. He’s just fine watching her be over the top sexy for a bunch of pervy men every night. Maybe she doesn’t show her actual privates but she shows everything else and acts out sexual stuff…. And dude just bartends and cheers her on. She gave up her vCard to the strip club bartender after knowing him for 3 days. And after he admitted he hooks up with the strippers. 🥴🫠
It’s just so ick and ridiculous on too many levels for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Im really into Stripper and Gigolo thang (IKR its a good theme)lol.. So the story .. I love it! I really like Harlow aka Violet's character and she funny so I really enjoy reading this. And My Gawd Cam the hottie bartender/surfer well what can I say lol. I wish they make a story about Roxie and Adam I think that would be awesome. I didnt read the first book of the series tho I can say this book is stand alone. About the ending.. Its HEA (dont worry) but I need more of the story tho it ends well. So I guess check this out and I hope you'll enjoy it too ;)
Here's the thing. This book is cheesy. Predictable. Has insta-love. A storyline that has been done a billion times over. A formula hero. A formula heroine. I knew the entire story before I had picked the book up.
Expectation: Eyerolls and scoffing at the predictability and more eyerolls.
Reality: Melting down into a puddle of swoon every time Cam said one of his cheesy lines and goddammit were they cheesy.
Because sometimes, the formula actually works.
I have read almost ALL of Cambria Hebert's books. And I still have no idea why each time I think my expectations and what her book provides will match. They never have before.
I LOVED THIS BOOK - OKAY! ALL MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE GIVEN ME THE STINK-EYE WHEN I'VE TRASHED ABOUT THEIR FAVORITE CHICK-LIT BOOKS CAN STOP LAUGHING NOW.
This book was typical in the sense it followed all cookie-cutter ideas that have been used in a book with a stripper protagonist. Plot-wise it was predictable to a fault. But there is something in Cambria Hebert's writing that calls to me. The same something in her Heven and Hell series or Death Escorts books that even as I curse the things in the books that I hate I could not not like the book.
Same was with Tease.
The characters were refreshing. They were funny. The dialogues were hilarious. I clicked with them.
Love was insta, but I have not found a Cambria Hebert book where it isn't.
And Cam - Cam, Cam, Cam - hot, cheesy, 'I was a playboy before I put my eyes on you' Cam - who fell for the heroine I have NO idea why Cam. I'm sorry, you need to scrape me off the floor from the puddle of goo I have become in order for me to finish this train of thought. Cam was just - Cam. And I LOVED him.
I just have been in a downer streak with the past few books I've read - the romance was starcrossed, depressing, possibly ending in betrayal or death. So to find a normal couple who loved each other while joking and laughing and did not end up breaking my (or each other's) hearts were most welcome.
Harlow is cool too - but this book was all about Cam's cheesiness.
And the secondary characters, i.e. Adam and Roxie, were nice too. But I didn't really care about them much. But I do want them to have a novella or something - I see a definite potential there.
And Cam was sexy - but I think that is self understood from all of my rambling up there.
And there was a bit of stupidity book heroines are prone to, hero complex book heroes have and too much of sex that is in trend in NA books even when the story does not really demand the characters to get hot and heavy. But I am ready to overlook that at the cost of that single star.
But here's the thing. If this were NOT a Cambria Hebert book I may have never picked it up. If I was not so blue and depress-y I may not have liked it as much. But the setting, the mood, the lightness of the story were all perfect for me at this moment.
I mean, this book brought me out of the blue mood I have been in for a while. Of course I loved it.
Tease is the second novel in Cambria Hebert's, Take It Off series. As per usual with Ms. Hebert's work, this book did not disappoint me. In fact, a good majority of it had me laughing so hard I had a stitch in my side. Even now, thinking back on it, I start to chuckle. Tease, like all the other novels in this series is a stand alone. It is written exclusively in first person from Harlow's point-of-view, and it does have an HEA.
This book was different for me, because out of all the books I've read over the years, I've never read one about a stripper. Ever. Lets throw in a desperate college student out to prove her mother wrong, who is a huge klutz, and also a virgin... yes a virgin stripper. Okay I had to see where that went.
I was prepared for all manner of things going into this, but not Harlow. Harlow floored me and I absolutely loved her. She's not full of herself, or trashy, or any thing like you'd expect. No, she's actually a good wholesome girl, who literally just needs money for college. She's stubborn and resourceful, doesn't want anyone to think she's failed and so she gets a good paying job. Thing is, it's only good paying if you can actually "perform". She has no clue how to do this, and pretty much "wings" it.
I have no .gif for this, just let me refer you here. https://youtu.be/M3bdYPJdPCE <-- There is cursing, but it's hilarious.
Cam is the hot bartender, bare chested and bow-tie included. Seriously.. when I first read about him, I had these flashes of the hot guy bartender/male lead from Burlesque with his guy-liner. I'm not complaining! However, Cam is so much more! He's a surfer, and a surf board maker... bar-tending is just something he does to make money. He's ultra manly, but also sweet and caring. Cam notices the train-wreck on stripper heels that is Harlow, before she becomes "Violet" the teasing stripper.
It is full on instant attraction between these two characters. No, not the instant love, but still instant attraction. I actually liked that Cam didn't look down on Harlow for what she was doing, and instead got to know her and supported her. There is chemistry and it is fog the window steamy.
Of course, not all things are fun and dandy because once Harlow's act cleans up, with the help of some good friends, she starts to garner attention from her dancing. Odd things take place, particular things of hers begin to disappear and reappear in places she knows she didn't leave them. Someone is watching from the shadows and Harlow has to decide if the job is actually worth it.
Lets talk about the co-stars for a moment! I can't say enough about the co-stars in this book, they are a treat and were so much fun to read about. Every single character in this book was complex and well written. The fact that it's all from Harlow's POV doesn't detract from that, and I actually feel that if you can still like these characters and feel as if you know them from a single view point, is credit to the writing itself.
Obviously this book is another five star rating for me. Cambria Hebert has taken to setting the bar extremely high on what I read these days, and she just keeps living up to it, and topping it. I would definitely recommend.
** I received an ARC of this book, from the author, in exchange for an honest review **

My Review:
Wow! I LOVED Tease!
I think I spent most of the first half of the book either smiling, laughing or swooning! The second half of book? More smiling, more laughing, waaaay more swooning, but I was also panting (it was HOT), and probably a little white knuckled (some serious suspense going on!).
I loved all of the characters; Harlow is sweet, sassy, sexy, shy and freaking HILARIOUS at times. Cam is HOT, confident, sweet, romantic and funny, as well as strong - in physique as well as character. And their friends and co-workers are loyal, trust-worthy, really lovely people! What's not to like? Ok... So the bad guy, I didn't like him, but that's kinda the point!
It's like Cambria Hebert took everything that I love from a NA romance novel, and added it straight to TEASE. It's hot, funny, seriously sexy, there's drama, there's mystery and there's suspense! And although the attraction and romance between Cam and Harlow was fast moving. It worked. It was believable and never felt forced. I loved it!
This was the first novel of Cambria's that I've read, but I can promise you, I'll be reading more of her books as soon as I can!!!
* Tease is the second book in the Take it Off series, but all books in the series are stand-alone and can be read in any order *

Oh my goodness I don't know what part of me wanted to overlook this book but I'm so grateful to have gotten this loaned to me to read. Yes if you can't tell I absolutely loved Tease and who knew that I would love a character who's a stripper. But Tease is so much more than that and is what kept me glued to the pages.
I seriously believe what made this book so great was Harlow. She is a real character and very independent, working hard to pay her way through college. She looses some of her tuition money so she interviews at the Mad Hatter for a stripping job. Even though Harlow is a total klutz and actually doesn't take her clothes off, the guys at the club love her and she keeps going at her job. Yes I said klutz as in trips over her own feet kinda klutz. I know nothing about the stripper world so having Harlow less than perfect helped me bond with her and want to see her succeed.
All the characters turned out to be excellent. Cam was a total sweetheart but at the same time a bit of a bad boy. He is the bartender at the Mad Hatter which is where he meets Harlow for the first time when she did her interview. They got on pretty quickly but when you feel for someone then I say go for it and their relationship was gradual and real. Then there is Roxie, the stripper who helps out Harlow on her first night, who turns into a great friend and roommate. And lastly Adam, the owner of the strip club and the guy going on wife number 4, who turned into a nice softy especially towards Roxie. There is much to be explored there so thankfully Trashy is about them.
Tease was a pleasure to read with also a danger side to the story. Harlow seems to have attracted the attention of a mystery guy who gets bolder with his actions throughout the story. Although I did figure out who the guy was before he was officially revealed, I was still on the edge of my seat wanting to see how everything would play out and without spoiling anything I am going to say that give a huge applause to Harlow. There is also an epilogue that not exactly ties things up but does reveal a sweet ending to this couple that I love. Whoever has not read Tease yet should pick this up because you will not be disappointed.
I've become a big fan of Cambria Hebert since reading the hashtag series and I began reading the books from the Take It Off series shortly after. I'm rating this a 3 only because when I hit just over halfway it felt as if it were dragging out a little. The story was great, I didn't absolutely love the characters but didn't hate them either. It was a nice casual read but nothing to exciting. Still, I did enjoy it so job done.
I adore Cambria Hebert! Like adore her adore her! Her writing is fresh, her stories amazing and she just keeps getting better and better with every book! The first book in this series completely blew me away! It was epic! This book though had a different set of characters, a completely different setting and a new storyline! I'll admit that if you asked me to pick between Torch and Tease that it would be impossible! The plot of this book was so awesome! Like all of Cambria's books I couldn't put it down! There wasn't as much action and mystery in this book as what there was in the first book though! It took until like 70% through the book for any sort of mystery aspect to start! When it did though the plot was fast paced and brilliant! There were also small mysterious things throughout the book as well to set the plot up for the big mystery at the end! The plot was absolutely amazing! I can't think of any other words to describe it, but every word that comes to mind is an even better word! I would honestly highly recommend this book and series to anyone! The characters were also amazing! Harlow was the main character and she was such an easy person for me to connect with! I didn't think I would connect easily with her as I've read some other books about strippers and not really connected as much with the main characters as much I did with Harlow! I adored her! She was just an average girl trying to pay for her college tuition! It's weird though because we didn't actually see her in college once during this book lol! Anyway, she was funny and such a bubbly character! Plus, she had some serious moves! Cam was the love interest of Harlow and he was so freaking hot! I think every woman needs a guy like Cam! He was such a sweetheart and the little things he did for Harlow made my heart melt! The chemistry between Harlow and Cam was immense! It was sexy, hot and passionate! I may or may not have swooned! Okay, I totally did! I'm also going to mention Adam and Roxie as well as I would honestly love to see a book for them! I felt that their relationship was unresolved in this book and I could definitely see potential for a book for them! I'm dying for the next book in this series! Like completely dying for it! I read the synopsis once and I haven't read it since because it's taunting me lol! I know it's a completely different story, but I can't wait to read it! How sexy is that cover?! A hot cover without a guy in sight! That's something you don't really see these days! So that's one of the reasons I love it! The other reason is that it suits the book! I actually pictured Harlow looking like the model on the front! Big thank you to Cambria for an ARC of Tease!
*warning: Lovers of the book "stripped" I will do some comparing between these 2 books. Some may find this offensive, but that's how I need to express my feelings in this review. SO please don't kill me!
A few months(?) ago I read the blurb for "Stripped", I got really excited for it. I mean who wouldn't, strippers and hot famous guy!! But then I was disappointed to read that the heroine was a huge cry baby, and the hero was kind of a jerk (to me he was) Then I found this book. Very similar plots! Girl in need of money so becomes a stripper since she's desperate. OH and of course, she's a virgin. So I gave it a try!
I must say though..... SO MUCH BETTER!!
The heroine of this story, Harlow. Takes this job as a stripper to help pay for her school tuition and her apartment. She's very witty, has some awesome comebacks, and I find her sarcasm (don't worry she's not too sarcastic) to be really funny. Though I really wish her stripper name was "Tease" instead of "Violet". It would make the title of the book much more sense. It would also be like a kick her high school rumors in the ass. The hero, Cam, was very swoon worthy. He is a surfer, working as a bartender at the stri-- I mean Gentlemen's Club. He is just so smooth, and hot! He needs to be real, someone out there has to be like this, otherwise, I should just stop reading books to raise my hopes.
I definitely laughed in this book. Harlow has a real nice sense of humor! You just have to read to find out.
But I am curious about Roxie and Adam, side characters, and their own little side romance. I never really found out what happened to them.
This book does not have too much drama or emotional break downs. It's good for people like me....sensitive, easy to piss off.
*thank goodness this book has no cheating ;D I don't think I would be able to handle it cause I just really like this couple
Cambria has done it again with another great story without all the annoying angst and miscommunication instead it's a story about purely love with a shitload of drama thrown in.
Rumors can hurt. We sometimes forget the power of words can have.
For Harlow McAlister she has had strong virtues and fights for what is right and won't let people get her down. For her life's a bitch and she is desperate to move forward and not have to go back to her po dank town and I told you so family instead she decides to become a stripper to better support her self.
"So, Harlow. Why do you want to be a stripper?" "Well, it's my lifelong dream," I said, pressing a hand to my chest batting my eyes. "Uh-huh," he said as the bartender set a drink in front of him. He picked it up and took a sip, studying me over the rim of the glass. I sighed. "I need the money." He nodded. "Do you have experience?" "Well, no. But I undress myself every day, and that seems to be the most important thing I need to know." He laughed again. "I like you."
She still struggles with her personal choices and can't fully commit to stripping so she becomes a bit of a tease but she doesn't want to share her body until she meets the heartthrob Cameron Malone who steals her heart and mine.
Cameron was always a player until Harlow walked in his doors and then the gloves were off and he fought for what he wanted....Harlow's heart.
So. This read went from "Oh no, I'm a virgin" to "Let's get it on all the time" in 2.5 seconds flat.
The "heroin" Harlow is this virgin girl that just doesn't have sex. Why? Dunno. She's said to be a tease. Dude, that's so mean!
She needs money, so what does a shy girl do to get it? She becomes a stripper! Of course! And know what's even better? She's da shit, although she's so shy, she doesn't take her clothes off. Damn she's good!
Though the crowd goes completely wild when she does her not-routine (cause she just improvises as the night comes and goes, mhm) the boss, the colleagues and the not-today-but-tomorrow-for-sure-boyfriend think she's just not good enough to be a stripper. Ehm... right.
Then there's the "stalker". Not gonna say too much, but he acted more like a girl scorned than anything else. Seriously?
And last but not least the manwhore bartender boy. So he f**ks around (yes, also with the female staff from the club) and just doesn't do the relationship thing, but along comes the money-hungry stripper-virgin and boom, there's this undeniable love that's gonne last forever and ever. She doesn't even care that he probably rolled around in the hay with who knows how many girls plus 90% of the girls who work there. That's gross on so many levels.
But no, he's completely misunderstood and actually the greatest guy in the world. Awesome!
I mean, really - and that's the funniest part of this whole mess of a book - they know each other for like 3 days and Harlow gives up her virginity like instantly and they are so madly in love Jane Austin couldn't have written it better.
I could write so many other things that bothered me with this book but it's really not worth it.
This is certainly not my first Cambria Hebert book, but it is my first of the Take It Off series. I've truly loved everything she's written, not a DNF to be found. Cambria brings just the right measure of strong lead characters, some serious sizzle, situational detail, along with a bit of danger and intrigue.
Totally out of character, but desperate for college money, Harlow swallows her pride and her fear, before walking into The Mad Hatter.
“So, Harlow. Why do you want to be a stripper?” “Well, it’s my lifelong dream,” I said, pressing a hand to my chest and batting my eyes. “Uh-huh,” he said as the bartender set a drink in front of him. He picked it up and took a sip, studying me over the rim of the glass. I sighed. “I need the money.” He nodded. “Do you have experience?” “Well, no. But I undress myself every day, and that seems to be the most important thing I need to know.”
She may not be the best stripper The Mad Hatter has ever seen, but her awkwardness and innocence are leaving the patrons of The Mad Hatter begging for more. That includes handsome bartender Cam, whose a surfer by day and hope to own his own surfshop one day. It also includes a dark presence at the end of the bar, who is watching Harlow, a.k.a. Violet very closely.
More than anything this is a romance. Harlow is a stripper, but that's not really who she is. Nor is Cam just a bartender. They both have dreams of doing other things that will fulfill them, but when Harlow's past mistakes come back to haunt her, well things get pretty interesting.
So wouldn't it be great to be this amazingly beautiful woman that could strip off just enough that men didn't care whether they saw boobs or not...that just your "tease" was enough???? Yeah well, welcome to Harlow's world. Where this beautiful, yet totally cool girl can get away with it. Upon convincing herself that she could be a stripper to finish school, she went to the Mad Hatter, where she met her new BFF, her cool boss and her totally HOT boy toy. Let me just stop right here. The moment where these two connect one morning is absolutely one of the hottest scenes I have ever read. Now, this has nothing to do with the fact that I just turned 30 and my hormones are wound up so tight that I will likely have an orgasm from just one look at a hot guy, no, nothing to do with that at all. I loved the hero Cam in this book. He is just alpha enough, possessive enough, hot enough and COOL enough that he makes a bow-tie and a pair of jeans sound like the next best thing to sliced bread. This book had everything I love in a story. I not overly sweet heroine, danger the hero wants to save the heroine from, TONS of hot sex and especially a hot possessive alpha. It was short, sweet and to the point. Would I have loved it longer? Absolutely, but only because when you really love a book and the characters, do you ever want it to end? So maybe to some it's not short, but for this gal, it was more of a "tease" (ta-hehehehe) and I could have read a few hundred pages more of their story.
Very sweet love story. This is my first book I've read of Ms Herbert's, I did enjoy it. A bit out of the norm that I read, but found myself anxious to see where the story led. I adored Cam and Harlow, they just made sparks fly. The not so tough Adam also helped round out the characters. The story had a nice pace to it, just enough background but didn't weigh it down. The sex was hot and passionate, I really liked how Cam waited and the reasons he waited. Harlow is so not a stripper, her first time on stage she rocks it. She holds down 2 jobs to help with her college. Going back to mom isn't an option for the spunky small town girl. Cam is the typical beach bum that works in the same bar as Harlow. Even with his love for life and just have fun attitude maybe he isn't typical after all. There is an "element" in this story, actually two. The danger presents itself and stalks its prey, after all what stripper doesn't want to give "it" up for free. Have fun with this and watch how the all the characters mesh with each other. For a "Vanilla" read its fills out well with lots of aw.. gushy sweet love. Enjoy!
I liked this one much more than book 1. It's sweet and short. Cam is the perfect guy, very thoughtful, swoony, and romantic. The story was also more interesting than the previous ones. The mystery wasn't that much of a mystery, I could guess who that guy was as soon as he spoke that line in the room. What I really liked was the humour in this, mostly by Harlow. It wasn't a lot but just enough to make it fun to read.
😑You already know the plot, its a hot n heavy romance between a stripper and a bartender. The h, Harlow has a innocent virgin+vixen thing going on and the H, Cam is the stereotypical hot surfer+beachboy sorta.....you GET what im sayin'
😒Im wondering if I shud say the thing or keep my mouth shut.....
☝Violet wanted to study psychology.
☝She couldn't afford college.
☝She starts working as a stripper (she didnt want to, she was reluctant, this wasnt natural for her)
☝But she starts working cause the moneyyy is goooood.
😒Enter Cam. He charms her. He likes her. He makes her hoo-haa go 💦💦
🥴She continues being a stripper.
😐I don't get it. If Im dating a guy and he can't take care of me and make me quit a job that I absolutely hate.....wtf is he there for? I would TOTALLY get it if she became a stripper willingly and was passionate about it. But she wasn't. From the get go she hated it.
😆And yk what? The author tried hard to sell the image of the sexy virgin+vixen thing. On her first day as a stripper, Ms Harlow performed better than all the strippers that had been working there for two years.
🤓But okay, for the sake of the book, I'll assume that she's really good at it. Im ready to lie to myself. Sure, no problem.
😫But then it still dosent explain why the 'Hero' (hero my arse) is standing there drooling over her like 50 other men in the same room.
😫My definition of a REAL hero is when he protects her and prevents her from doing stuff she dosen't wanna do.
💔💔Dissapointed.
😛I abandoned this midway btw.
😔👎Cam seemed very superficial to me. With not a very good character depth to him.
😒Harlow was years younger and 10X smarter than him.
😶👀idk im just......ig im not the right audience for this book.
🟥SPOILERS🟥
✅Virgin h ✅Celibate H. (the h is ......for a millisecond sad that HE'S not a virgin--girl i feel you) ✅Side characters were amazing. (Better than the MCs imo) ✅No-cheating. ✅No OW/OM drama. ✅Smut-11/10. (seems to b the only good thing here) 😑It's an HEA but I dont have more details since I never finished this book.
Harlow glares at the bills piled on her desk. If she doesn't figure out a way to come up with some cash quick she will be forced to go back home with her tail between her legs. She has an option, a daring one. Harlowe is considering applying for a job as a stripper at the Mad Hatter Club, even though she doesn't know the first thing about stripping, and the thought of taking all of her clothes off in front of a bunch of drooling men literally makes her sick to her stomach. Yet a girl has to eat. Harlow finds herself standing at the door of the club, tentatively she goes in and before she knows it, Harlowe is the newest stripper at the club. Can Harlowe take it all off? What I Liked: *Cambria Hebert over the last two years has shown that she is capable of writing a range of characters from the paranormal hell hound to the sweet girl next door who is struggling to pay her bills. It doesn't matter what she is writing or who she is writing, Cambria knows how to write characters that feel like friends. Harlowe is no exception. At twenty one, she is trying to finish college and do it on her own. She has no desire to return to her small home town where everyone knows everyone and everything. When her financial aid gets cut and her roommate moves out, Harlow finds herself in a frightening position. She resorts to stripping to pay the bills. However, the fresh faced, naive Harlowe isn't exactly cut out to be a stripper. She is modest, clumsy and unable to bare it all. I loved her witty dialogue and enjoyed watching her struggle as the worst stripper. One of most endearing traits is her clumsiness. It is hard not to giggle when she is attempting to be sexy and she trips and falls on her own shoes! Harlow made me laugh! Cam, the love interest, will certainly win over a few hearts. He is incredibly handsome and sexy as well as nice and considerate. I would go for a ride on his motorcycle anytime! I think you will enjoy meeting both Harlowe and Cam. *Let's talk about stripping.... I know nothing about the strip club industry, and I have not ever been to one. I liked that Cambria gave me a crash course education on strip clubs, and that she portrays the girls not as sleazy, sex objects, but as girls who are down on their luck and in desperate need of some cash. In reality, I am sure that many girls are just like Harlow, struggling and terrified. I think you will gain a new appreciation for strippers after reading this. I am not saying that you will want to run out and be one, but I think you will come away with a new perspective. Don't worry that this is a book about strippers, it is tasteful and it doesn't once go into the dark and dirty aspects. Overall, it stays on the light side. Though, there are a few compromising and scary predicaments. What I loved about it was that Harlow keeps it funny with her snarky commentary and hesitation to take it off. *I liked that this book has a bit of suspense and a couple of surprises. It turns out that someone is after Harlowe and that person has some dark intentions. The book quickly takes you on a scary trip. I liked that this book had a fun little mystery. *This is a New Adult book you can pick up without worrying about whether or not you will get your heart stomped on. This is a series that steers away from the damaged, broken people and the plot is without a lot of heartache and drama. Instead the book is fueled by great characters, some sizzle and suspense. These books are perfect for those of you who are looking for a New Adult title that is quick, fun and different. I love that you can pick up one of Ms. Hebert's books and cruise through it in a couple of hours. You will have fun with the humor and the sexy romance. *The romance..... I think you will enjoy this little romance. It moves fast and furious with plenty of heat. If you like passion you will enjoy the smexy time, but it doesn't go too far over the top. You won't have to put the book down in embarrassment since it refrains from going into too much sizzle. Keep in mind, though, that this is a New Adult title and that there are some heated scenes not meant for the younger reader. And The Not So Much: *I would have liked to know a bit more about Harlow's background. Was she not close to her parents? Why was she too afraid to reach out to them for help? Was it because she feared they would make her come home or that they wouldn't give her a bit of cash to help her through the tight spot? *I found that I really enjoyed Adam and Roxy. Adam especially surprised me. He is the owner of the strip club with a big heart. He seems to really have the girls' best interests at heart. He might be a bit of a player himself, and he definitely has had a rocky romantic history, but I ended up liking him. I felt sorry for Roxy, and I would like to know more about what led her to becoming a stripper. Finally, I was a bit disappointed that the book didn't catch up with them at the end. What happened to them? *This is me being picky, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the displays of public affection in public..... the scene in the aquarium was a bit of stretch for me. I just didn't think it was plausible to get it on in a public place like that.
Tease was a wicked, fun little read. It takes you on a girl's journey of self discovery and desperation as she attempts to become a stripper. There is plenty of humor that lightens this up as well as a bit of mystery and suspense and a lot of steamy scenes. If you are looking for an exciting, light read definitely give this a go! I had a lot of fun with it!
Favorite Quotations: A person can only make a mockery out of someone if they allow it. He nodded. “Do you have experience?” “Well, no. But I undress myself every day, and that seems to be the most important thing I need to know.” The blond was still gyrating herself all over the place, now wearing nothing but a G-string. I’m sorry, but how did that not hurt? I mean, really, it was practically flossing her butt. If he were an all-you-can-eat buffet, I’d unbutton the top of my jeans and dig in. I couldn’t imagine why a woman would come here to watch another woman undress. I mean, if she wanted to see boobs, she could look in the mirror. Apparently, a dirty ho had taken up residence within me without my knowledge.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review. Posted@ Rainy Day Ramblings.
3 1/2 stars. This is entertaining, and amusing about a down on her luck girl that gets a job at a strip club to pay for school. What is funny is this girl is the worst stripper ever, and she dances without taking off her clothes. She is clumsy as hell, and never even practices a routine. It doesn’t matter though she’s a hit, lol. She’s caught the eye of a hot bartender, and a stalker which makes things very interesting. I had fun reading this, but I admit my eye is on book #4 which has been recommended to me, and since it’s against the law to read out of order on to book #3.
A highly emotional and drama packed story by Cambria Hebert.
Cam is one of those guys who has more side than a rubik's cube. He's tough, yet sweet. He's intimidating yet romantic. He's laid back yet intense when need be.
Harlow (aka Violet) is taking life into her own hands and making it on her own - no matter what it takes. I loved seeing her come into her own throughout their story.
Not only is this a beautiful love story, but there's also a life lesson that shows/reminds readers that lies told, no matter how innocent we may think they are (or justified) can cause irreparable damage to others' lives.
The cover jumped out at me. I am not afraid to say so. The premise also stirred my interest. It is not often that there is a book on how it is like to be in the shoes of a stripper. I admit this is not for everyone.
I found it brave that the author chose to self publish this and take a risk. Usually the writing will not be the best but I found it good albeit for a few grammer mistakes.
So, as I began reading the story opens with Harlow going for a job interview as a stripper. Her reluctance and nervousness is evident. She keeps going back and forth wondering if she should go for it or find another job. It is not like you can just walk into a strip club and have the confidence to pull it off. Along with baring her body and the connotations that come with this job, she has alot to be worried about.
I was really interested for a good 40 pages and that was when things started to turn for the worst. I had so much interest in this as I wanted to know what it was like to be in the mind of a stripper and a newbie at that. The nerves, the revelations. However, what I did not expect was so much focus on the physical relationship between Harlow and Cam.
I was a little worried about the advisory at the back, coarse language and graphic sexual content? but the language is not much different from some ya novels however the sex scenes are similar in terms of adult novels.
I have to say that there are some near rape scenes that may disturb some readers.
Okay, I absolutely could not stand that Harlow was reduced to a whimpering hot mess when it came to her first meeting with Cam. Things moved fast and honestly, you can't be serious that he is always around, taking her for lunches, sneaking up on her. Lavishing her with little names and heart melting phrases. Not to mention the hot and bothered stares. Get this! he is a ladies man before and turns exclusive for her. He almost seems stalkerish and all this happens within days. The only awesome thing is he is not possessive and crazy jealous.
I also found it weird that the reason Harlow took on the job at Mad Hatter was her studies and yet there was no mention of her going for classes or being on campus. A little odd, no? Everything was for college and all that is mentioned here is her job at the club, her job at the beach, time with Cam, home and repeat next day. It was as if she was having a summer job or two not even studying for college.
Nearly half of this book could be taken up by sex scenes, make outs, spending time with Cam and so on and so forth. All with Cam.
The added thriller feel of the actual stalker was great and enhanced the story. It all tied up well actually. But in the end this left me feeling like I was reading a combination of Beautiful Disaster, minus crazy Travis, Twilight mixed with sex, mind blowing orgasms and flowery romantic stuff. Sure those scenes are steamy and unbelievable but that is what makes them so attractive.
I would say this has huge flaws but it was a good effort. It is just that I will not be reading anything else from this series nor will I read Adam and Roxie's story. I am pretty sure theirs is the same as this just with a few changes in details. I like them as characters but seriously? get a room you two! I would have prefered to loan this as this is just a meh read.
-This book was provided by the publisher/author to Nerd Girl Official for an honest Review (Review was originally published on blog on May 22, 2014)
Harlow Harlow Harlow… She lost her financial aid and she was caught between a rock and a hard place. She is cute, spunky and just so, um… innocent. So when she decided to bite the bullet and try her hat at the strip club it was kind of unbelievable. Sigh… I know…. I know… Cambria has never let us down and she isn’t about to now so I decided to just forge on. I did. I do admit, I read it out of order. Hey I am honest. OK!
The plot line has been done a million time. Tons of desperate girls with an OK figure have thought about it themselves. Crap-a-dap-a, I have thought about it at some point in my life. (Well bartend at a strip club – Look to the right, then look to the left. SMH…) So what makes Tease so different?? Did Cambria bring life to the story line? Did she manage to do Harlow’s story justice? Yes I do believe she did, but not in the way you guys think a stripper story should go.
It wasn’t the story about Harlow being a stripper, it was the mystery behind what happens to Harlow, the suntanned beach boy she falls in love with, her unlikely new roommate, the friendships she makes and the way all of that comes together. Like a melody, or maybe a pop and lock, or lol… I was trying to make a stripper song pun but I couldn’t figure one out. HA!
I did enjoy Tease. I recommend it to all of Cambria’s fans and to fans of new adult. Love ya babe! Note: Review has been written in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. For more information regarding our reviews please visit our facebook fan site.
Cam the sexy flirty bartender who worked at the mad hatter was a bit of a lady's man, though as soon as he sets eyes on Harlow that's it. He wasn't the usual overbearing alpha but he an alpha in his own right. I loved the fact he didn't push for her to quit when they started seeing eachother or wasn't voicing his displeasure about it either it was a treat for a change to see a man be ok with it. Harlow is very much your classic girl next door, sweet, innocent and and gorgeous genuinely pretty on the inside and out. She' interviews for a job as a stripper because she's in need of the money with school bills and living expenses to pay she's hasn't got much of a choice. She was very tasteful about it, she didn't even strip per say more teased the crowd with little glimpses, she wasn't made to be a stripper and I don't think being one is a bad thing it just wasn't for her.
The chemistry between the two H/h was off the charts crazy sexy and sweet, they where a sweet power couple and I loved the secondary characters to. The book was filled with loving, laughs, gasp moments, angry rants and suprises. Though it was pretty predictable it didn't affect the book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I would say for myself it was a quick easy read and although she has a stalker there wasn't a lot of angst in there and the bad scenes happened quick and didn't drag through and the little epilogue at the end was a pleasant surprise.
Loved this -- had the pleasure of re-reading before reading Trashy #10 in the series.
Harlow is trying to work her way towards a college degree and resorts to stripping at the Mad Hatter. She's smart, but the world's worst stripper, yet her girl next door look reels the men in and she's decided to be more of a tease than a stripper... which hearkens back to an incident with a boyfriend she wouldn't sleep with who then set up a rumor about her that she was an ice queen or a tease. Oh, and she's also a virgin, still at 21.
She meets Cam at the MH -- he's a hot bartender with a heart of gold. He's a surfer and designs his own surfboards and aspires to own his own surf shop one day. And he does thoughtful things for her. I loved the chemistry between H and C. So romantic and swoon-worthy. Sigh. Great book boyfriend.
There's a lot of great features of this book -- great character development, H's ability to trip and/or get hurt, sexual chemistry, bits and bites of a mystery surrounding a series of events that leads us to believe that either she or her roommate Roxie have a stalker. As with all the TIO books, there's the thriller element surrounding the main character. H is suspicious because she thinks someone is watching her -- this comes to a head when she's practically raped -- twice.
