Friendly Temptation

Rate this book
Ever since Katherine Ainsley's divorce, a hazy line has emerged in her relationship with best friend Dominic Corvalis—one teetering between companionship and lust. When he proposes a dare, she rises to the challenge, even after she finds herself in a place she's never imagined. Besides, Dom is there to support and tease, and the sexual tension percolating beneath their naughty errand is simply too tempting to resist. Perhaps they are meant to be more than just friends. She'll never know until she pushes him across that line...and into the bedroom.

Friendly Temptation by Elaine Radley is a wonderfully, hot short read. Often with short stories you are left with the feeling of "that's it?". But, I never felt that way with this story. The characters were surprisingly well developed and enough background was given to make you feel like you really knew them. The sex was steamy and fun!

Katherine Ainsley and Dominic Corvalis have been friends for years, but since her divorce a sexual tension has developed and she's not quite sure she wants to fight it. Dom is sexy and they've always had such a connection why not explore some?

Dom is tired of hiding his interest when he's out with his best friend. He doesn't want to ruin their friendship, but after a night of flirting and teasing he can't take it anymore. He proposes a dare and is thrilled when she calls him on it. What follows is a night that neither will ever forget.

At less than 50 pages it's amazing how much steam and fun is packed into this story.

Thank you to Elaine Radley for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was an adorable romp with a couple who have been friends with each other and finally push that sexy boundary and fall into bed with each other. It's sexy, sensual and I just fell in love with the characters. Great little beach read!

A nice quick read, friends to lovers story, considering the length it did a good job of establishing the characters and a little of their background. Enjoyable

description

So this book went kind of against what I usually read in two ways ... it's a novella (which I RARELY read) and an erotica (which I also very rarely read). But ... this was by an author that I enjoyed reading and when she asked that I give two of her novellas a go ... I thought, why not!

Here's the deal ... I'm not going to say much because this little gem is only 40-some pages long. I could say one sentence and ruin the whole thing!

What I WILL say is that the reason I don't usually read novellas is because they are just too short. I've found that authors rarely have enough time to establish characters and the whole plot of the book and then finish it out in so few pages. But that wasn't the case with this one.

I really enjoyed getting to know Katherine and Dom. I enjoyed them together even more. They brought some amazing chemistry and fireworks to the pages that I hadn't expected to experience so quickly.

While this is a short story, it will keep you entertained and leave you a satisfied reader because it was entirely fleshed out (no pun intended) (or maybe it was) and you're left with no unresolved issues or feelings. It was just a great short story that I kind of wish went on longer because of how much I liked Dom. And I liked him. A lot.

Another one knocked out of the park for Radley. I'll definitely be a reader of whatever she comes up with ... no matter the genre or the length.

First impression:
I like friends to lovers stories, so I thought...why not? Let's give it a go.

The story:
The plot wasn't all that complicated. Kat and Dom have been friends for a while and now that Kat is divorced, their friendship is heading to a new level. After getting matching tattoos, they head back to Dom's house and the night heats up. After their moment of passion, their true feelings for each other are revealed and a new love begins.

The characters:
Well, the story is only 42 pages, so there wasn't much character development. I didn't really feel like I knew much about them, but I did like them. I liked the idea that Kat had taken some time after her divorce before she just jumped in to a relationship. Also, I liked that they had a strong foundation of friendship. I will say that Dom intrigued me. He was a retired cop turned college professor. I wanted to know more about him. He was pretty sexy too. Although, I didn't love that he kept calling her 'honey' during the sexy parts. Despite that, their sex scenes were pretty steamy and reminded me why I love erotica. *wink*

What didn't work for me:
Since it was a novella, things happened pretty quickly, which I was prepared for. But, the beginning was a little confusing. It seemed like they were in an office setting or something and then just decided to go get tattoos. It was a bit of an awkward start.

Overall:
I ended up liking it. I almost didn't make it past the tattoo scene, but I'm glad I muscled through. It was steamy and sometimes you just need a good...hard...quick...dirty. Perfect read for a little inspiration!

Favorite Quote:
~White hot heat exploded as their tongues danced and wrestled. Her mouth was soft, luscious and addicting and he caught the back of her head to keep the connection until the throbbing of his shaft reminded him of other velvety parts of her body.-Loc 470

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

For many years and through their individual marriages and subsequent divorces, Katherine and Dominic have been nothing but the best of friends, but recently the innocent flirty banter has gained a more serious tone.

After a dare puts them both on edge, Katherine decides to push the envelope and finds herself seducing her best friend. Dominic doesn't take too long to recover from his surprise and his long suppressed feelings come surging to the surface.

****

A very short, but amazingly complete and intense story! Highly erotic and very insightful.

The characters are well established as friends, are not new to relationships and have had their share of bad experiences. They know the risks and that is what makes them cautious. But all that pent up restraint also makes their coming together quite explosive. But it isn't only the physical connection that is good between these two, they are very well attuned in every way.

Before any skin is bare, the sexual tension is high in this novella and it simply rises higher throughout. Very hot. The dialogue is very mature and straightforward, a very welcome relief from the often adolescent type game playing described.

I'll be honest, there was too little of it. This style of writing.....I could have done a nice big juicy novel of. But alas.....it's a shorty..... and that's its only short-coming. Highly recommended!

✨Sharp, succulent, rich erotica!✨

I was asked by the author to give an honest review of this short, steamy story. It is a very quick read, enjoyable and it has some hot scenes in it. What I loved about this book the most is that the characters were friends, finding their way back to each other after being in other relationships. For me when you have a short erotic story, I need that the characters know each other and create a plot to the story rather than just page after page of sex.

Katherine and Dominic created a humorous atmosphere, who as friends were comfortable with each other. The nerves were wrecking chaos when the time came to take their relationship to a new level. The respect that they had for each other was very refreshing in this type of story. The love scene was hot and worth the pages it took to get there, because the author allowed us to see them as real people who were just trying to cross the line into romance and still protect their friendship.

With the amount of space she had to use for this short story, she did a wonderful job at giving us a chance to just relax and see true love blossom. The story was consistent and always moving toward the goal. She traded drama and suspense for humor, nerves and emotions and I loved that about this book. It is well worth the money to have such a wonderful escape from realty for a little bit. It isn't so steamy you can't read it out in public, but it is hot enough that it makes you wish for the love they have between them.

"You'll never do it".

"You can't know that for sure."

Interesting first paragraph for sure, I mean really WTH are they talking about, I had to keep reading just to satisfy my curiosity.

"Okay then, Prove it.", this is getting more interesting for sure.

Tattoos, of course, Dominic is willing to get one but now Kat is not so sure. Dom and Kat have been best friends for a long time, but now, watching Dom get inked up Kat is starting to see him in a whole new light.

After the tattoo they get take out Chinese and things just go from there.
This was a quick little read but very well done. Dominic and Kathryn have both been aware of each other for a while but hesitant to act on any feeling in cause of ruining their friendship. Finally with the help of some endorphin releasing tattoos they get a chance to explore a new venue in their lives.

It was really sweet to watch these two discover and learn new things about one another. The sex scenes were really about love and it clearly showed in the story telling. It was a nice quick read. The characters were nicely fleshed out and easy to like. I would definitely give this short read a 4/5. It covered all the bases quick nicely.

First let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this little story! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't stop reading! Dominic and Katherine, the two characters in the story, had such great chemistry and played off each other so well...this was helped by the fact that they had a history which I truly liked. The characters were easy to relate to and down-to-earth which is always a plus for me!

The author described her scenes and characters with perfect detail. The sex was HOT, HOT, HOT (wow!!!!!!) and I loved the fact that it was more than just sex for the characters. I also loved the teasing and playfulness between Dominic and Katherine..it really built up the sexual tension!

This was a quick, but satisfying read although I secretly hope that the author writes more about Dominic and Katherine in the future! I would recommend this short story to any erotic fiction reader and I truly hope to read more from Elaine Radley!

Friendly Temptation Elaine Radley.
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book Reviews.

So, I'm always saying I don't really read shorts so how come I’ve reviewed this one. Well Elaine emailed me and I read the Amazon sample and...just wanted to know more. What I don't like about so many shorts/novellas is they try too hard, try to pack too much in and the story gets lost. Here Elaine has kept it simple, two long time friends who really both want more, a bet and the outcome – which leads to lots of hot, erotic, spicy sex and a real feel good short story. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than that, and it works really well. If you've got a half hour of so of spare time and want to fill it with a romantic, and very sensual love story this is perfect.

Friendly Temptation is a short quick read. I'm always afraid that you aren't going to get a lot of story in such a short read, but that is not the case with this book. You actually feel like you know the characters right from the beginning. The author gives you a little of their back story. Both characters have been friends for a long time. Both are divorced and both secretly have feelings for each other. Seriously the sexual tension is screaming at you from the pages. Wow and when they finally do have sex it is extremely HOT. This was such a fun short story and just what I needed. The author is great with details and descriptions. If you are looking for a quick fun and hot read then Friendly Temptation is for you! I will definitely this author again.

I love reading these little novellas because it is a great way to find out what kind of potential an author has as a writer. And, even though this is just a short story (not really a book) it did make me smile and smirk and left me wanting more. I am a huge lover of food seduction so I loved the playtime in the kitchen scene... and I also love the whole friends to lovers concept... especially if it is well written. Nice playful banter throughout the story between Kat and Dom. If you're looking for a taste of sexual tension to fill up an hour or so this one should hit the spot. The question is at the end of the day is... Would I read more from this author? Yes, I would... she has a nice writing style... so, give it a go!

Review from PS Naughty Reviewers ~ Suzy
This was a sweet read that made me grin from the beginning. Her personality was something I could relate to.

I enjoy these feel good reads. Whisking me away for a bit into their world—and tattoos? Yum! I loved his viewpoint, but the mixing with hers didn’t always work for me. I actually really enjoyed that he had a pretty strong voice in this story.

This story wasn’t exceptionally explicit and would be a perfect read for a long trip. You can definitely read in company of others. I read it outside in the sunshine today. It was sweet and I loved the chemistry between the characters. The build up was fantastic; the author seems to have a knack for that.

Had everything a quick novella should have. A quick storyline that was really hot. I enjoyed that the beginning had me believing I was only going to get a cutesy friendship story but then things change. It provided just enough strategically placed backstory to allow believability to the story. The ending is extremely satisfying and does not leave you hanging on. I would like more about this couple but if not it was a great to peer into an encounter of theirs.

No so much a book, as a short story. This is maybe 2 chapters worth of writing. I kind of felt cheated.

The story itself is kind of cute. Dominic dares MC to get a tattoo, she says only if you get one too. They get one, then they go home to eat and have sex, they confess their love, the end.

Elaine Radley does an excellent job of writing a short story with a lot of punch. This is a friends to lovers story - and it doesn’t disappoint.

Katherine and Dominic are both divorced and available. They have been good friends for years, but there is an attraction between them that has been simmering under the surface. Katherine may not want to ruin their friendship by getting intimately involved with Dominic, but their chemistry and flirtations become too much for her to handle.

This short story would have made a fantastic full length novel. The author is good at building up the tension between the characters, which in my opinion is better than any love scene. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a quick, entertaining, sexy read. If she can write such a good short story, I would like to see what she could do with a full length novel!
