This was kind of a sickly sweet book.
Liam moves back to NY after being gone ten years. He had a fight with his father over his career path, and set out to places unknown. He comes back, and his mother sets him up to meet Rory, a local hair dresser.
Rory is a tattooed assertive woman who had some awful things happen to her. She's spent four years pining and brooding over her murdered fiancé.
Then enters Liam.
From there it's a love at first sight kind of book. Things move incredibly fast, and that's when the cheesiness kicks in.
Although I liked it, I mostly had a problem with how sweet (unbelievably so) Liam was. I don't know one single man that acts this way. It's like he gave his man card to Rory when they started dating. For some tough New York cop, he was embarrassingly cheesy.
Like when he thought this: Everyone was crying, including me. I had ever been happier in my life than I was right at that moment.
Or when he did this: Bought her a minivan. "Well, we can't move out to a nice neighborhood in Long Island and not have the best minivan on the block,"
What guy do you know that willingly buys a minivan??!
Then there was the cleanup after they moved into their new home: "Rory, we can get to that in the morning. You are tired and you need your rest. Come on, let's get you up to bed, and I'll take care of this in the morning," I said, and I stood and walked over to her chair and helped her up.
I guess what I'm trying to get across here is that from Liam's point of view, it is obvious that a woman wrote it. No man would act like this, especially not a "Supposed" Alpha male cop......
