When I was approached by Nocomus Columbus and asked to review his work, I was hesitant after having had a negative experience in the past with a different self published author but I really needn't have been worried. For one, he assured me he would accept a positive or negative review, equally. For two, the story was good.
filth.o is set in the very familiar world created by Hugh Howey. The difference is that this story is written for a mature audience. Right from the get go, you are thrown right into the deep end. The first scene is quite vivid and jarring, but it really sets the tone. If it makes you uncomfortable & you question continuing on, you should know that the rest of the story is much tamer and cleaner. I would call this a deliciously gritty Silo story. :)
I will definitely read more of Columbus's work. Thanks for finding me!!
A gritty police procedural set underground. Unfortunately one of the loosest Kindle Worlds publications since it hardly looks like the silos Hugh Howey has created: the protocols mostly ignored, instead of a new [small] world order, this silo operates as if a bunch of 87th Precinct folks were magically transported to this bunker. They have fine art ("Is this a Pollack?") and literature ("I used to like to read Shakespeare."). Huh? How? Couldn't bring me back to the world of WOOL and Shift.
an entertaining read, but the plot was extremely underdeveloped. I hope the author keeps trying because with a little more work it could have been a very nice story.
