Riot

Rate this book
Billy the Kid, a young outlaw, attempts to steal Riot, a sacred text that contains untold treasures of an ancient kingdom, not to mention half the secrets of the universe. But his attempt is foiled, and as Billy the Kid lies dying, mortally wounded by Axel, the beautiful woman who guards Riot, the book itself strikes a bargain: Billy can have insight into the volume's secrets as long as he protects Axel for all his days.

Not a terrible series. The story sometimes moves along very quickly, and all the women become crybabies at some point. I would also warn that there is some female nudity, but not a lot. Sometimes the comedy doesn’t hit right, especially when it comes to Axel. There are points where the translation seems whacky, and you can see the piece of paper placed over the original Japanese text some times. But that’s 90s manga it’s hard to really fault it, as English translations at the time were all bad. The book is flipped.

The story is very barebones, and I don’t think it ever finished (there is only two completed volumes). I got these collected books used because I have old single comics as a teen and I wanted to finally read the rest. Found copies on ThriftBooks.
