How I wish, this had been my 6th Class History book. Probably, I could have chosen a different career path.
This book is beautifully presented by NCERT. It will introduce you from palaeolithic age to various dynasties. You will feel a little smug after reading this as you get the gist of Ancient India. At first, you may think that you know everything but still there are some basic terms that you be glad to know with perspective to different empires vis-à-vis cultures. You must give it a read before jumping directly to difficult modules of history.
One of the basic books for you if you want to understand about India's history. Don't think it is a school book, if you read this after your 23 age, the perspective will be totally different.
Although this book is meant for children of Age 10. My review of the book is based on the pedagogy adopted by the NCERT as a standard to be made in the Indian schools. The complex concepts of the Stone Ages, Formation of Cultures and Empires have been explained in creative ways. But, the recent subtraction of certain chapters is denting the big picture that the textbook compilers had in their vision. The solution to the problem will be rewriting the book rather than haphazard subtraction of texts. Moreover, While framing the book, one must consider whether the teacher in the hamlets of Odisha is able to convey the concepts as intended by the NCERT.
it is a very apt version of ancient indian history. whoever likes to start from basics of ancient indian history shall start from this book. this book breaks notion of viewing history from viewpoint of kings only. this book covers history from every section of society then. for me the reading was enriching and smiling experience as it depicts that times history in such a way that you literally live in those times.worth reading for everybody.
It's the first history school, explained the ancient part of history . It includes topics like vedic era, stone age, Mauryan and post maurya dynasty, south kingdoms, ancient architecture etc. Nice book to read as a comic 😊😊
