Jeffery Young is tired of women and their games. His son’s mother did enough damage to his heart to last a lifetime. Now, he had to deal with the architect helping the land developers tear up the local ranches for their houses. Not on his watch.
Terri Kennedy had her own plans. As the architect for a large land development in Bandera Texas, the deal would put her business on the map, but dealing with the stubborn, bullheaded male from the local ranch didn’t come with her job description. Maybe staying on their guest ranch would give her some clues as how to handle Mr. Stubborn Jackass.
Will the secrets she’s harboring keep him from getting close?
Can he learn to trust women again or should be play the game to find out what’s she’s up to?
Sandy Sullivan is a romance author, who, when not writing, spends her time with her husband Shaun on their farm in middle Tennessee. She is an avid reader of romance novels and enjoys reading Nora Roberts, Jude Deveraux and Susan Wiggs. Finding new authors and delving into something different helps feed the need for literature. A registered nurse by education, she loves to help people and spread the enjoyment of romance to those around her with her novels. She loves cowboys so you'll find many of her novels have sexy men in tight jeans and cowboy boots
So I have to say I even loved this one more than the first. I guess because Jeff was so hurt and lonely and deserved someone to come in and ease all of that. I loved his interactions with his cute little son. I could just picture that cute little boy dressing and acting just like his dad. Terri wasn't as tough as Mesa but she did stand up for herself when it counted and also owned up to her mistakes. I really felt like she fell in love with Jeff's son Ben before she fell all the way for Jeff. The most romantic "gotta get my girl back moment" ever! Another scorcher too! These cowboys are hot! Now I'm diving into Jacob's story. For the Love of a Cowboy I'm wondering what has made him turn to drinking and what lucky lady is gonna help pull him out.
This is book two in the story which is about Jeff and Terri Jeff really is a hardass when it comes to love, but In case he was burned.. Terri is there working for a company who wants to buy all the land up .. Terri goes to stay at the dude ranch and as things get hot between them .. Can Jeff find love ??? Must read this book to find out ...

~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~ Jeff Young has been burned big time. His ex wife Misha did one hell of a job on ruining him for any other woman. He doesn’t trust easily at all and the only things that are important to him is his son, his family, and Thunder Ridge. That is until he meets Terri Kennedy. I really liked Jeff, even though he could be a jackass, you understand why. Ben stole my heart right along with Terri’s. The chemistry between Jeff & Terri is scorching. Is that enough to gain this jaded cowboy’s heart and trust. What will happen when he finds out what Terri’s purpose is on the ranch? Everything isn’t as it seems with the developers that hired Terri, but what’s done is done and now she is going back home to Houston. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. From the time that Terri left for Houston to the end I didn’t move from my seat. I had to know what Jeff would do. I was not disappointed. I love this family and cannot wait to read about the next brother. Sandy Sullivan does a wonderful job with grabbing your attention and holding it. You will probably be fanning yourself as well these cowboys are HOT! 4 STARS!
What can I say about the second installment of "Cowboy Dreamin'" hmmm.... I want Jeff to take ME in the supply closet and do wild things to me. Yeah that is it. Jeff although very standoffish to many has the hear of gold with a WONDERFUL sexual appetite. It took a whole lot for him to trust but when he did it was ALL or nothing.
I have to admit Terri had me kind of scared there when it came to doing the job she was paid to do as well as save her company or help the man she LOVED and his family. Though many things went unanswered or my GREED just didn't want the story to end, it still gets a MUST READ for me. I got the inside scoop that their story is NOT over from the author herself.
So go on ahead and enjoy the cowboy and see how the woman bring him to his knees....
Tre stelle e mezzo. Testosterone a gogo anche in questo nuovo capitolo della serie Cowboy Dreamin’. Questa volta a farci conoscere la sua storia, già introdotta nel precedente capitolo, è il maggiore dei fratelli Young. Jeffery è uscito da un matrimonio fallimentare con una donna incapace di amare, che l’aveva sposato solo per interesse. L’unica gioia di quel matrimonio terribile è il figlioletto Ben, di cui è riuscito ad ottenere la custodia esclusiva. Il dolore inflittogli da quella storia finita l’ha convinto che non ci si può fidare delle donne, ti tradiscono sempre in un modo o nell’altro. Da quel momento la sua vita è stata esclusivamente dedicata al figlioletto e alla gestione del ranch di famiglia insieme ai fratelli e ai genitori. E ora ha un’altra grana da risolvere. Un’impresa edile ha intenzione di costruire una zona residenziale nei territori adiacenti al Thunder Ridge e l’arrivo al ranch di Terri Kennedy, sexy architetto con l’aria da ragazza di città, non fanno che peggiorare il suo già altalenante umore. Non si fida di lei, fa troppe domande in giro, domande sospette. Ma Terri non ha mai nascosto le sue vere intenzioni. Lavora per l’impresa edile, sta facendo delle ricerche sul territorio per conto loro, ma quando ha la possibilità di conoscere meglio Jeffery e il piccolo Ben e tutta la famiglia Young, le cose cambiano. Inizia a chiedersi se le intenzioni dell’impresa edile siano davvero nobili e se non stiano invece cercando un modo per appropriarsi della terra della famiglia Young… inizia anche a chiedersi se quell’uomo diffidente e ferito (e anche parecchio sexy) non sia in realtà l’uomo giusto con cui costruire il futuro roseo che non aveva mai sperato di avere. Molto carino. Certo, mi aspettavo di più da Jeffery, pensavo che mi avrebbe entusiasmato di più. Joel alla fine si è rivelato una tacca superiore, ma in quanto a sex appeal, ora sono sicura che si tratti di un dono di famiglia. Jeffery è affascinante, dominante come pochi e Terri è la sua degna controparte. È tosta, gli tiene testa e insieme fanno scintille. Care lettrici, ho riportato sopra l’abstract ufficiale che spiega come Jeffery sia un cowboy con un figlio, un uomo che a causa di un brutto divorzio alle spalle non riesce più a fidarsi delle donne; mentre Terri è un architetto, incaricato di stilare un progetto edilizio su un terreno adiacente al Dude Ranch della famiglia Young. Terri affitta una stanza al Ranch, e in incognito inizia a raccogliere informazioni per conto dell’impresa edile per cui lavora (flora, fauna, risorse finanziarie, casi giudiziari…).
Questo è, grosso modo, il conflitto su cui è costruita tutta la storia. Di fatto ho trovato una serie di incoerenze che non giustificano pienamente la credibilità della vicenda (Jeff conosceva già il mestiere di Terri, per cui non capisco come lei potesse credere di rimanere in incognito per molto tempo; Terri ha scelto il Dude Ranch casualmente, eppure la ditta edile aveva mire proprio su quel lotto di terra; Terri raccoglie informazioni senza sapere a che cosa possono servire, e mai si chiede se l’impresa per cui lavora abbia cattivi fini…).
Credo che la cosa migliore, in casi come questi, sia non farsi troppe domande e gustarsi ciò che c’è di buono nel racconto: nel cuore di un cowboy è un erotico poco impegnato, perfetto per una lettura leggera, senza badare troppo alla coerenza delle premesse, o alla verosimiglianza dei dialoghi.
Voglio dire… nel bel mezzo di un rapporto sessuale sembra normale mettersi a disquisire sulle posizioni o sulle tempistiche come al tavolino di un bar?
«Voglio che tu venga per me,» le ordinò. «Adesso? Ma…» protestò la donna, stupita. «Puoi farcela, sento il tuo corpo che vibra attorno alle mie dita.»
**
«Vieni per me, Terri,» le ordinò.
«Toccami il clitoride, ho bisogno di frizione per venire di nuovo,» replicò lei.
Il cowboy scosse la testa, non solo per schiarirsi le idee, ma per prendere il controllo della situazione. «Fallo tu. Fatti venire.»
La protagonista mi è sembrata una via di mezzo tra l’ingenuo, il tonto e lo schizofrenico. Vuole usare Jeff per i suoi fini, ma non immagina che ci sia cattiva fede nell’utilizzo delle informazioni carpite. Sa che è tutta una finzione, però si arrabbia se lui le dice che non intende avere una relazione duratura, ed esige che lui non la tenga nascosta alla famiglia. Sempre, però, che rimanga solo sesso e con un termine di due settimane (la durata della sua prenotazione).
«Ascoltami.» «No, sono stanca di ascoltare le tue scuse, Jeff. Ho capito, non vuoi avere una donna nella tua vita. Me l’hai già detto abbastanza, ho memorizzato perfino il modo in cui pronunci le parole quando lo dici. Vuoi solo una scopata veloce, ho capito anche quella parte.» Terri gli posò le mani sul petto e cercò di spingerlo via. «Neanch’io ho bisogno di te,» concluse. «Non è come sembra,» cercò di difendersi Jeff. «Col cazzo che non lo è!» «Terri, ti prego, ascoltami.» Jeff le accarezzò la guancia con le dita. «Io non ti ho mai mentito. La mia vita non è stata proprio fantastica e la mia ex è una stronza. Mi sono scottato, tesoro, e non ho più un cuore da dare a nessuno, anche se lo volessi. Tutto quello che mi rimane l’ho dato a mio figlio, vivo per lui e solo per lui.» «Lo so, Jeff.» Le guance di Terri erano bagnate di lacrime. «Non ti ho mai chiesto di darmi il tuo cuore.» «Non voglio che tu ti faccia un’idea sbagliata. Voglio che siamo onesti l’uno con l’altra fin dal principio. Quello che ho detto a Jackson è la verità, ma tu lo sapevi fin dall’inizio. Ti voglio? Cazzo, sì, piccola. Ti desidero più dell’aria che respiro, ma non posso più aprirmi con nessuna, non voglio correre il rischio di soffrire come un cane di nuovo, quindi non lo farò.»
E dulcis in fundo, al finale sono rimasta senza parole.
Dopo solo una settimana, lui scopre che è stato ingannato e la caccia. Orgogliosa, lei fa la valigia e torna a casa, ma a questo punto entrambi si sono segretamente innamorati. La famiglia di lui fa pressioni perché facciano pace (prima di rincorrerla, però, deve fermarsi per tutto il tempo del pranzo…).
A casa di lei si trovano, si dichiarano, stanno per fare sesso, quando lei parla di figli e gli chiede una proposta di matrimonio. La esige esplicitamente e, alle sue titubanze, lo caccia. (Ricordo che si conoscono da una settimana…).
Quando il cowboy tolse le dita e si girò, posizionandosi tra le sue gambe, Terri si irrigidì. «Rilassati, piccola, non faremo nulla senza lubrificante,» la rassicurò lui, poi prese il tubetto dal comodino e lo posò sul letto accanto a loro. «Prima di arrivare al sodo, faremo un po’ di sesso vaginale. Adoro sentirti mentre ti stringi attorno a me.» «Oh, sì,» sospirò Terri, quasi facendo le fusa, mentre Jeff si spingeva dentro di lei. Poi si rese conto che non si era messo il profilattico. «Uh, Jeff?» «Sì, piccola?» «Ti sei dimenticato di metterti il preservativo?» «Ne abbiamo bisogno?» chiese Jeff. «Non prendo la pillola. Non sono stata con un uomo per molto tempo, quindi non mi serviva. E se rimanessi incinta?» si preoccupò Terri. «Ti piacerebbe? »
……….
«E hai intenzione di sposarmi?» «Sposarti? Aspetta un attimo.»
«Come pensavo.» Terri spinse contro il petto di Jeff finché riuscì a toglierselo di dosso. «Credo che tu debba andartene.»
Lui torna al Ranch e, raccontando l’episodio, viene etichettato come quello strano, che non si fida delle donne, che ha paura della vita. Certo, perché dopo tutto, chi non è disposto a sposarsi dopo sette giorni, avendo scoperto che quella donna ti ha usato e mentito?
Sì, ho riso parecchio!
Le sfilò la canottiera, lasciandola completamente nuda dalla vita insù. «Sei così bella, mi togli il respiro.» «Dici così per dire,» protestò Terri. «No, è vero.» «Sono sicura che sei stato con donne molto più belle di me.» «Forse è così, ma loro non avevano la tua bellezza interiore, il tuo amore per la vita, la luce che irradia la tua anima. Sei una donna veramente bellissima,» ribatté Jeff.
A parte la trama, dicevo, ci sono molte scene di sesso. Esplicite, descrittive, alcune anche un po’ squallide, tutte molto hot, che sembrano non appartenere molto alla storia e a volte fanno sorridere per i dialoghi improbabili durante gli amplessi.
«Stanotte, a casa mia,» disse. «Pensavo che non volessi fare nulla lì, visto che c’è Ben,» replicò Terri, stupita. «Lo metterò a letto alle sette, così potremo avere tutta la serata per noi. Vieni con la tua macchina, così potrai andartene quando vorrai. Puoi seguirmi a casa mia dopo cena.» Jeff l’afferrò per il fondoschiena e la attirò contro di sé. «Hai mai fatto sesso anale, tesoro?» le chiese.
«No.»
«Ti va di farlo?»
Infine, ho trovato interessante l’ambientazione nel ranch. Non sapevo che in Texas si rivolgessero alle donne in francese, chiamandole “madame”. Non dubito che sia vero, ma suona un po’ strano.
“Ti amo, Terri”, le disse il cowboy.
“Bene. Adesso penso che tu dovresti lavarti, e so che io devo farlo per forza. Tutto questo seme e questa roba viscida tra le mie gambe sono appiccicosi” replicò Terri.
La trama non è ben strutturata, a partire dall’inizio, quando Terri va a soggiornare nel dude ranch (cioè nell’agriturismo) di Jeffery, sperando incredibilmente di passare inosservata, fino al finale, melodrammatico a dir poco. Né mi pare si respiri sufficiente atmosfera western, nonostante l’autrice dichiari di essere sposata con un cowboy, proprietario di un ranch, e di vivere lì. In realtà si tratta di un romanzo breve essenzialmente erotico in cui lo fanno, più o meno, in tutte le occasioni, i luoghi e i modi possibili, ma senza che giri neanche un soffio di vera passione, almeno a mio parere. Linguaggio corretto.
Recensione a cura di Teresa Siciliano per il Blog di Babette Brown. www.babettebrown.it
Di fatto, ho trovato una serie di incoerenze che non giustificano pienamente la credibilità della vicenda. Credo che la cosa migliore, in casi come questi, sia non farsi troppe domande e gustarsi ciò che c’è di buono nel racconto: nel cuore di un cowboy è un erotico poco impegnato, perfetto per una lettura leggera, senza badare troppo alla coerenza delle premesse o alla verosimiglianza dei dialoghi.
That did not roll out as I expected. These two were a little too quick to judge and re-act to like them right away, but as they got to know each other, and us them, they grew on me. Having Ben around certainly helped add to that
Book two in the “Cowboy Lovin’” series, this story revolves around the lives of the eldest Young son, Jeff, and Terri – an architect working with the development company recently buying up parcels of land around the ranch for redevelopment.
Animosity instantly develops between them as soon as they meet with Terri as the face of the threat against Jeff’s family ranch. After Terri decides to stay at Thunder Ridge to try and gather some more information for her employers, her and Jeff’s antagonism-veiled-as-lust turns into outright lust. Although Jeff is angry with Terri for showing up at his home, he can’t restrain himself; his anger fueling his desire for her.
Jeff’s want for her is strong, but it’s his history with his ex that makes him reluctant to let her any closer than just being a friend with benefits. But it’s not just Jeff who’s risking something. Terri is risking her heart by letting herself grow more and more attached to Jeff and his young son, Ben, even though she’s only going to be at the ranch for two weeks while she’s gathering information for her bosses.
Despite the expiration date looming over their heads, both Jeff and Terri willingly give themselves to each other, although not always completely. I’m not going to give anything away, but I was expecting a happily ever ending at one point, but was thrown through a loop when Terri and Jeff end up have a major disagreement. But don’t worry. You’ll get your sweet sigh of contentment by the end of this book even if it comes in an unexpected form.
I like this book a lot better than the first and third in the series for the simple fact that Jeff has actual issues that he was struggling with. It drove the story forward; his fears giving substance to the plot and to how Jeff reacts to certain things. He’s been burned before…badly, but it’s the love of a special woman that helps to heal him.
“I don’t have a heart left to give anyone even if I wanted to. All I have left, I give to my son. I live for him and only him.”
Nina is once again instrumental in her sons’ lives. She has all their boys’ happiness at the center of her heart, and she does her best to help them to realize their errors. As I’ve previously mentioned, I really like Nina because she’s a guardian angel to her family. She is the matriarch, and I would hate to see someone cross her because she would have sharp claws.
If there was one thing that I felt detracted from the book, it was the character’s quick decisions with some things. Sometimes they would say one thing, but in the next breath they’d say or do the exact opposite without any clear reason for doing so. I think this happened maybe a handful of times, which gave me pause, but didn’t stop me from putting the book down and refusing to read the rest.
I’d also have to say that the sex scenes in this book were perhaps the best of all three so far, although some more variety would have been nice, also. I feel like the characters names could have been substituted with characters from books one and three and it would have been the same.
Overall, it is the best out of the three so far. I’ve also been sucked into the Young family world. I’ll be looking for more from Sullivan in the future.
When Sandy offered me a copy of this book I ran all around the house clapping and SQUEEE'ing everywhere. Her books are always hot and emotional. I read Joel's book and fell in love with grumpy, heart broken, older brother Jeff. I was excited when I found out his book was next. When Sandy told me who his HEA was I was giddy.
So the back story on poor Jeff is he fell in love with a tramp of a woman who hit on alllll his brothers before getting him all wrapped. Well, Jeff fell in love with her, married her and then found her 2 nights later with another man. Yup ladies she left her hottie cowboy husband on her wedding night to go celebrate "marrying the gold mine" in Jeff. Well they managed to have sex to produce a sweet little mini-Jeff named Ben. Ben is Jeff's whole world and it shows. He has custody and is only concerned with the ranch and Ben. Everything else isn't important ESPECIALLY a good for nothing, lying, whoring woman!! Uhm.....incase you didn't, notice Jeff is very bitter and broken over he ex-wife.
The book starts with Jeff stumbling across Terri and George surveying the land her employer has purchased. He politely cusses them off his land but he can't stop thinking about Terri alll night Can I saw he has some very hawt dreams of Terri!!!!. As you can imagine, he is not thrilled to find himself thinking longingly of the enemy!! Terri is also not sure why but she keeps thinking back to the jerk at the ranch. Well, she decides to get information for her employer, she will stay at the ranch Jeff's family runs.......clapping at what happens......Well as much as Terri tries, she can't avoid Jeff. The 2 begin to spend a little bit of time together. Her to "get information" and him to "keep an eye on her". Well a little horse ride turns into "sexy time" in the natural spring....giggles....I loved that every time Terri and Jeff have "sexy time" one of his brothers always finds them.....snickers.....Well when there are 9 kids in the Young family it isn't like you can get a lot of alone time.
Well the plot is full of ex-wife drama, Terri unsure of her employers true intentions, Jeff pushing her away and pulling her close. The ending chapters of the story were awesome. A lot of story resolution and Terri/Jeff coming to terms with their feelings for each other. I love that Nina (Jeff's mom) is there to kick the boys butts in gear and help them SEE what is right in front of them. The epilogue was great. I loved how each of the characters needs and desires are addressed.
4.5 Stars from me! After reading the first book in this series, Make Mine A Cowboy, I will be perfectly honest with you, I wasn't sure if I would like reading the future books in the series because of how that one was set up. But I decided to give Sandy another shot, so when the chance to take part in her tour for the second book, Healing A Cowboy's Heart came up I took it. I am completely happy with reading this book though!
In this book, we get to know Jeff, the oldest brother out of the 9, and the one who has the most issues with women it seems. While his anger towards the better gender (can you tell I'm a woman here ;) ) is justified, it felt like he had a lot of anger towards women. During the course of the story, you could tell what Jeff holds very dear to himself, his family. The one complaint that I would have about his character is that he went from being the “hating all women” to doing whatever he could to be with Terri. It felt like to me the switch was done too quickly.
Terri's character I think was written pretty good as well. You learn a little about her past, but not a lot. It seemed like she just 'appeared' and her life started when she had the surveying job. I didn't really like what she did throughout the book, but I do understand it on some level. When it came to the ending of the book, I wish she would have held out a little more than she did, but once again, I can understand where she was coming from.
I do have to say completely though, I think my favorite character in this book is Nina. Being the Mom of 9 boys, you have to have a sense of humor. She was a great comic relief during the course of this book.
All in all, I have to say that I am completely glad that I gave Sandy another shot because I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I would recommend this series to friends of mine who enjoy cowboys and romance!
Healing a Cowboy’s Heart is book two of Sandy Sullivan’s Cowboy Dreamin’ series, and while I liked book one, I LOVED book two. There is just something so darn sexy about the broken cowboy, Jeff Young. He took a hold of my heart from sentence one and didn’t let go!!
Jeffery Young’s heart has been crushed once and that was enough for him. He is saving all the love he has for his son and his family. He certainly doesn’t have time in his life to let a woman in for more that to warm the sheets. Only problem is that the one currently in his world is getting to him more than any other woman ever has. Can he fight the feelings she stirs in him, and keep his heart safe?
Terri Kennedy has come into the area to do research for the development company that has bought the land surrounding Thunder Ridge. She isn’t in the area long when she bumps heads with the totally grumpy Jeff Young. When she decides to stay at the Thunder Ridge Dude Ranch and conduct her research from there it puts her in the line of fire from Jeff. But there is more that the fact that they are on different sides of this land issue. The currents of attraction sizzle between them from the get go. Can they deny the attraction and feelings that are growing between them?? I love the explosive chemistry between these two. This leads to some smoking hot sexiness!!! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster, because you truly go through each emotion with Jeff. He truly had me feeling each emotion with him!! I hope y’all enjoy this one as much as I did! :)
I didn't think Sandy Sullivan could out do Cowboy Dreamin' book 1, Make Mine a Cowboy, but she did!
Healing a Cowboy's Heart is the story of Jeffery Young the eldest brother in the Young family. Jeff is the foreman of his family's dude ranch, Thunder Ridge. The land surrounding Thunder Ridge has been bought by a developer to build a golf course community on and they have their sights set on Thunder Ridge also. Terri Kennedy is an architect from Houston sent by the developer to get information on the environment that they plan on developing. Jeff doesn't take too kindly when he catches her on his family's property surveying the land.
Terri decides to stay at Thunder Ridge to gather the information she needs. Jeff's ex-wife did a number on his heart which has now left him believing women are the bane of his existence. Jeff is immediately suspicious of Terri's motives for staying at the ranch. Of course the sexual tension between these two is wound up tighter than an eight day clock and explodes in some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read.
The developer wants to put Thunder Ridge under and Terri is threatened to find out and turn over any information that would help their cause. You will have to read the book to see if Terri ultimately betrays Jeff and his family to keep her job.
The story world that Sandy Sullivan creates is vivid it pulls you right into the story. The depth of emotion in these characters makes them real and believable. I cannot wait to see what Cowboy Dreamin' book 3 will be.
I give Healing a Cowboy's heart 5 stars and highly recommend it.
Please note: I received an advance copy of Healing A Cowboy’s Heart, in exchange for an honest review.
After reading Make Mine A Cowboy, book 1 in the Cowboy Dreamin’ series), I was looking forward to this next edition in the series. (You can read my review of book #1 here) The series shares the stories of the lives of the Young Family, who own and run Thunder Ranch. There are 9 Young siblings – all sons who are ranchers, who know just how to wear a pair of wranglers, a Stetson and some boots. Healing A Cowboy’s Heart tells the story of Jeff Young, the eldest of the sons. His heart was shattered and his trust in women is lost forever. He was married once….to the wrong girl. The only thing good that came from their marriage was a sweet little boy…a son, named Ben. The fence lines of Thunder Ranch aren’t the only fences that Jeff Young protects…..there are also the fences he has built around his heart.
Jeff meets Terri and they really get off on the wrong foot. She is the enemy and has an agenda. His property and his heart need protecting. You know those phrases that talk about opposites and temptations? That’s what you see with Jeff and Terri – opposites, temptations, destiny, breaking down walls and fences….and finding love in all the wrong places.
If you love cowboys and romance, discover the Cowboy Dreamin’ series. The books can be read as stand-alone novels, but I recommend reading them in order….where you learn a little more about each of the Young family members along the way. Read about the hopes and dreams, their struggles and their journeys…..you won’t be disappointed. I am eager to see which cowboy we get to know next.
Healing a Cowboy’s Heart by Sandy Sullivan is the second book in the Cowboy Dreaming series. Jeffery Young, has a three year old son. Jeffery is a cowboy who is not afraid of a little hard work. His ex wife had only wanted his name and the prestige of being a rich rancher’s wife. He really didn’t want to have feelings for a spunky surveyor. Terri is architect for a large land development in Bandera Texas, the deal would put her business on the map but she doesn’t want to sacrifice the land and ecosystem to do it. She is more than annoyed with Jeffery and his surly attitude. She has spunk and sass and gives Jeffery just as much right back at him. I liked that about her. She is a modern woman who will not let a man cower her. Terri goes to Jeff’s dude ranch to learn more about the area. She isn’t exactly truthful about who she is when she checks in. When Jeff finds out she is there more than sparks will be flying. Terri is what Jeff needs, a woman who is real and true unlike his ex. She cares about him and his son. She has a big heart and passion to match Jeff just needs to see her for who she really is, not who he thinks she is. When these two finally get together they heat up the sheets. I really liked that Terri is a good soul, Jeff really needs her and she is more than the right woman for him. I love how Ms. Sullivan gave me characters I truly love in this story. I really could not put this one down. I am now ready to read the next one in this series I have to know which sexy brother falls in love next and with who..bring on the cowboys!
We already know that I love any & all books by Sandy Sullivan. This was the 2nd time reading the book & for some odd reason I never left a review the first go round. I actually forgot a lot of parts from the first go round.
Jeff is scorned & hates women from the crap his ex-wife Misha put him through. However, it takes Terri & her dime store cowboy look when surveying the land adjoining Thunder Ridge to really get his blood boiling. Not only does Jeff act like a ass he becomes a major one w/Terri. He is put off by all women but then again after being burned who wouldn't be?
Terri has her own secrets that she keeps from Jeff and in a lot of ways she has every right too. I think it was a wonderful love story all around. I think I enjoyed it ten times more rereading it. One of my favorite lines by Terri was "a drop dead cowboy fucked me five ways from Sunday. And I liked it. I literally spit out my pepsi when I read this line. I can't believe I forgot about it. Jeff being the oldest of all the Young brothers has to always act like the big bad wolf. However, Nina ( the mom of them all) knows how to play matchmaker w/all her sons to end up getting more grandchildren & the women she wants to be daughters. I just love Nina. Then Jackson always has to be a big ass in the book. But, I love all his assey comments. After all he is my favorite. He definitely got under Jeff's skin when he tells Jeff that "he needs to get laid." That is typical Jackson for every occasion & I love him all the more for it. Jeff probably didn't want to agree but we all know he complied. :D
Healing a Cowboy's Heart is one of the best books I read this year! I give this a EASY FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS! This story had everything. A sexy, stubborn cowboy. A sassy, spirited woman who doesn't know the meaning of give up and a ranch that any person in the world would be glad to call home. I found Jeffery to be the kind of cowboy who I wished I could meet in the real world. He is a VERY loving father, a kind hearted man with shadows on his heart but who is also capable of extreme goodness and can be very pig headed. Now Terri, she is my kind of gal filled with warmth, sassiness, a feisty mouth when you get her going but who is also is very good with children and is just as stubborn as Jeffery, which in my opinion, made them the perfect match. I enjoyed how steamy the sex scenes were and yet how real the whole thing felt to me. It reminded me of how two people in real life would work through a relationship. We know that their are hardships yet moments of utter bliss and as I was reading this book I got to experience it all and that to me, just made this whole book that much more interesting. I can not say enough good things about this book and hope a couple of you lovely peeps would give Sandy Sullivan's Healing a Cowboy's Heart a whirl. I am just about positive you will LOVE IT!
You know when you’ve read the first book in a new series and really enjoyed it? Then you get asked to read book #2 and you just can’t see how the author can improve the series? Yeah, well read Make Mine a Cowboy and Healing a Cowboy’s Heart and you’ll see exactly how an author can improve!
I want me some Cowboy loving from Jeff! Jeff is the eldest of the 9 brothers and has had his heart stamped on by his ex-wife and finds it really difficult to let anyone else in. He’s grumpy and grouchy and HOT. I love his character, the strength he shows in shouldering the responsibility of being the eldest brother, and how he is dealing with being a single dad. I love this aspect of the book, single dads are not nearly represented enough.
Terri is also a good character and a great match for Jeff. She’s strong enough to demand what she deserves out of life and doesn’t back down from a challenge. There wasn’t much background given on her but it wasn’t needed and with Jeff we started to learn about his history in book #1.
This is a great addition to the series and I’m looking forward to learning more about the rest of the brothers.
Once burned, Jeff Young does not trust any woman, especially Terri Kennedy, who is gathering information for a land survey. This survey is for property located next to the Thunder Ridge Cattle/Dude Ranch where a development company wants to build houses. Terri decides to rent a cabin on the Thunder Ridge Cattle/Dude Ranch so she can ask questions about the area. As soon as Jeff sees Terri on his family's ranch, he's immediately suspicious of her. Will Jeff ever learn to trust another woman, especially a woman his little boy wants as his new momma? Will Terri find information that will allow this development company to build next to the ranch or buy the ranch out from under the Young family?
This is book two of the Cowboy Dreamin' series. I LOVE this series! Beautiful Texas ranch land with hot, gorgeous, sexy cowboys walking around. It is truly amazing watching the transformation these cowboys make once they meet "the one". Looking forward to more of the Cowboy Dreamin' series by Sandy Sullivan. 7 more sexy Young brothers to go! FANTASTIC!!!
Oh, and the ghosts are still on the ranch (if you read the books you'll understand what I mean.)
Jeffery is in charge of a large ranch and 8 of his brothers He has to keep everything running even though he couldn't Keep his marriage because his wife was a cheat. What does he Find one day another person on the land this one just so Happens to be a woman who is working for the enemy Terri is a architect who just got a big job with a company trying to build a housing project. She is gathering info on The water wildlife and the way the people live. She had No intention of meeting a sexy cowboy with a nasty attitude. She stays on her ranch and falls in love with it his family and him But it's not that easy. Their is trust issues and stubbornness that will end up hurting people but yet she care so much she has to Do something to help him fight for the land he loves. She loves him and she thinks he love her but it may be too late Sandy Sullivan takes you on a journey that lacks trust. They love but really that isn't enough come read and discover what Will happen when you truly love someone enough to give Up everything and still almost lose Ito losing it all
I loved Jeff he was just your typical guy who got a shity hand dealt to him. But in the end he's a great guy.
Terrie ~ I loved her no-nonsense attitude, she was just more in your face then anything. Now, the only thing I didn't agree with was her pressuring Jeff for a proposal, when he explained why he didn't want to go that fast. True, she apologized for it later but still that rubbed me the wrong way. Overall though I loved her, she was the perfect woman for Jeff.
Jeff ~ He has major trust issues, especially when it comes to women which is understandable when you learn of everything Misha put him through! He was a wonderful dad to Ben, above everything else going on in his world he put him first no matter the consequences. And when Terrie tried to push him into marriage, I loved how he stood up for himself! He knew he wasn't ready for that step yet and he didn't let the thought of losing her sway his decision.
Overall I liked this one better than the first book! The characters were more believable and relatable!
I love the story of this book. I love how the author made the story interesting and intriguing, and the concept of the good.
About the story, I love how it was written and there is no dull moment in the parts. I love how the characters differ form each other especially the Young brothers, all of them was unique. The author really did a great job in making the characters to be more interesting and likeable in a very good way. I'm happy how the story ended and how the characters dealt with everything. And I got to read some of my favorite characters' parts (Joel and Mesa). =)
Ms. Sandy really rocks in making this series interesting and fun! Can't wait to read more of the Young brothers!!
Jeffery Young has had a bad go with women. He would prefer to not have anything to do with any of them. Heck he is pretty moody with most people other than his son. But when your wife runs off after your wedding and cheats on you I guess anyone would feel that way.
Terri Kennedy is an architect from Bandera, Texas. She is trying to get her business noticed and getting the scoop on the local guest ranch is the way to do it. But dealing with a specific Young is a bit more complicating than she thought it would be.
LOVE THIS SERIES! The Young Cowboys are great! And I was really looking forward to Jeff’s story. I knew he would be a great read. Terri is perfect also. They are a great match for each other. If you like Cowboys then you will LOVE this series!
This was always going to be an emotional story with Jeff's heartbreaking history and his inability to trust the opposite sex.
So Terri's appearance and her job as a consultant for the company intending to ruin Jeff's livelihood, was never going to endear her in his affections.
But you can't help that instant attraction, and as much as Jeff wants to ignore it, it just won't go away.
So when sparks start to fly and sexual tension is at its peak, what are a horny couple suppose to do?
Jump each others bones of course!!!
This story is all you would want in an erotic romance and so much more. I also loved that the author chose not to go with the traditional ending.
Healing a Cowboy's Heart by Sandy Sullivan is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms Sullivan has delivered a well written book. Jeffery and Terri's story is loaded with drama, humor and sizzle. The characters are well developed and lovable. Healing a Cowboy's Heart is a fast paced read, no dragging things out in this book. I enjoyed Healing a Cowboy's Heart and look forward to reading more from Sandy Sullivan in the future. Healing a Cowboy's Heart is book 2 of the Cowboy Dreamin' Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Wow! I started reading Healing a Cowboy’s Heart and could not put it down until I was finished. I loved the complexity of the characters. Watching Jeff and Terri go from enemies to lovers was incredible (and their time as lovers was hot!!). The descriptions of the life around the ranch was so vivid – I could see and feel everything going on. I fell in love with Ben. I am normally not a cowboy romance fan but after reading Healing a Cowboy’s Heart I am going to have to read the rest of the series – and recommend it to everyone!!
