Must Girls Love

Rate this book
After her sister Miya’s tragic suicide, Sabrina wrote to express all her emotions: shock, sadness, love, disbelief, anger. Must • Girls • Love is a memoir about her journey to understand, cope and grieve for Miya. Twenty-two years old, the youngest of the four sisters, and a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Sabrina deconstructs her family’s dynamics, Miya’s issues, and ultimately her own issues in order to accept why Miya killed herself and understand why she struggles as she does. The book traces what happens to a family and to an individual in the year following such a tragedy. It also illustrates Miya’s favorite phrase, “Must • Girls • Love,” that celebrates the bond among four sisters and their parents.

In this memoir the authors writes, "Now I wondered, had I done the same? Did I create a book that
would speak to its audience in the same way that Didion did for me?"

No. The answer is a resounding no.

A very raw memoir about working through trauma and grief, I love the style of narration, between dialogue and journal entries.
