When Hartley Jones, a fifteen year old beach-boy from L.A, moved to a tiny town at the foot of the Canadian Rockies he was sure he had arrived at hell on earth, a frozen hell that is. He hates the snow and cold, he is the favorite target of the school’s bully, and is ignored by the rest of the students. All this changes when, walking in the mountains, he encounters a pack of wild wolves and a mysterious girl named Amber who can communicate with them. Hart learns to hunt with the wolves, fight like a wolf and appreciate the wild nature around him. Life is good again.
The idyll is shattered when Amber is kidnapped by criminals. Now it is up to Hart to lead the pack to rescue Amber from the hands of the criminals who took her. Would the pack follow him? Even if they do, could he find the courage and determination within himself to do what has to be done? Would he be able to come to terms with what he has become: a wolf-runner.
Hope, action, frustration and prevailing, the story depicts the culture shock and adjustment of a urban beach boy that has relocated to the wilds of the Canadian Rockies.
