Selina Moss bared her body to her husband and allowed him to see her and touch her like no one else has ever done. When a member of the family visits, she realizes there is still so much about her husband she doesn't know.
Benjamin's remorse about his family history drives his actions. Selina is his present and he'll do whatever it takes to protect her from being contaminated by his past, including revealing the shame that burns his soul.
But for Selina, finding out about Benjamin's past means investing emotionally in a man who's only going to walk away once their temporary arrangement comes to an end. Is she ready to bare her heart to him along with the secrets of the past?

We all have them. Secrets. I can’t tell you mine but I am more than willing to listen and accept yours. I am like a refrigerator; I can keep what you share in a safe and sound corner until you are ready to reveal them. Are your secrets dark, sinfully sensuous buried with a lot of naughtiness woven inside?
If you enjoy the dirt behind the secrets we all share then you are in for an awesome treat. Secrets by talented author, Kiru Taye. Secrets is a realistic, stimulating and sexy read for the grown and sexy. I enjoyed the flow of the storyline, the settings and the characters’ colorful personalities and antics. Ms. Taye creates characters who are as real as the people who live next door.
Selina Moss is a beautiful, spirited, African American young woman who loves her man. She’s an open book for her spouse. Selina is a well-educated, professional woman who possesses just the right blend of chemistry for making a life with Benjamin explosive in all ways imaginable. Selina’s skills as a senior pharmacist has its challenges.
Benjamin Moss, Selina’s love, is holding on to some issues that will, more than likely, rattle the cage of his murky past. He’s handsome, bronzy tan, of European heritage, with rugged features and grey, mysterious eyes. Ben is also a professional business man and is responsible for many in his employ.
Selina and Ben have a blazing hot, carnal relationship that is aptly depicted by the skills used by Ms. Taye’s word play. As I read the book, I relished the use of BDSM, the interracial aspects and the manner in which Ms.Taye permits the reader to enter into the world where many secrets must be kept.
Does Selina require some discipline from her dominant, powerful husband to keep her on her toes? Dare she disobey him to become more independent?
Secrets releases the burdens that reside quietly within most of us. Those sunless areas of one’s personality that must stay in the obscure compartments of the soul. Secrets electrifies the readers’ imagination and hidden desires. Ms. Taye’s writing style is easy to connect with and rest comfortably between the covers. The story elements ignite passions and are deliciously naughty.
I can’t keep Secrets by Kiru Taye to myself, so I’m recommending that you sit back with this tempting, adult read and let your dreams unfold. Secrets is a book which holds the reader’s attention and one that may be added to your must-read serials of love, lust, and steamy behaviors, which merit a tap here and there to make you compliant to the masterful demands of Ms. Taye.
I got the second installment to the passion shield series and I was not disappointed. The story of Benjamin and Selina progress and this time the focus is on Benjamin. Selina has to deal with her in laws. I love how Benjamin stood up for Selina, when Beatrice came visiting. Selina's state of undress is a frequent symbol,'no more secrets'. Totally enjoyed the book.
Secrets we all have them. Ms. Taye does a dynamic job of conveying love, lust and dark secrets that come into the light of the relationship between a husband and wife. Secrets is full of sizzling carnal behaviors by two intelligent, well educated people of different cultures who fall in love. Secrets holds within the hidden realities for Selina and Benjamin; the need to be dominated and to be masterful dom. This is a smoking hot read that will rattle many cages that holds the naughty little secrets many of us hold dear. This is an adult read for the mature, grown and sexy. Ms. Taye's characters are realistic and her storyline flows and taps the brain with realism and excitement along with an aha moment or two. I recommend Secrets and spread the word. :-)
Benjamin and Selina Moss' story continues in Scars, the second book of the Passion Shields series. It picks up close to where we left off in Scars. Feelings are beginning to develop a little more strongly between the couple, but the secrets that each is hiding from the other could be the one thing that will tear them apart. Ben with his family history, and Selina with her reluctance to share the truth of just how she got her scars.
In Secrets, the emotions really get kicked up a notch or two. There's a lot of growth for Selina, because while she's realizing her feelings for Ben are steadily turning into more love than lust, she's also still battling inner demons all the while. Her fears can almost seem suffocating to her, and Ben is the only one who is able to help her manage them. He masters her physically and emotionally--it's a great look at how strong his character really is. I very much enjoyed reading him. Ms. Taye did a fantastic job with his character. The heat and chemistry in Secrets gets kicked up a notch as well. The passion between the two is hard to deny. Selina is a born submissive, but she's still learning to let go of some of her ... stubbornness. The office scene made my fave list of erotic scenes, and hell, Ben wasn't even in the room--not physically at least. Well done.
I have to say, I was really cringing hard for both of them when the secrets finally made their way out. After all, everything comes out in the wash, as the saying goes. Selina earned a bit more of my sympathy, though. Because really? It was a double whammy on her all the way around the board.
What secrets do you hide? We've all got them. Some are easily swept aside. Yet others are dark and threaten to pull us into despair. While others are shameful and best kept uncovered. Welcome to Selina's and Benjamin's world.
I thought Kiru wrote a pretty great book with Scars, giving us the right balance of the erotic and the emotional. In this book, she takes it up a notch, peeling back the layers and baring all.
I love this book. We really get to see the characters develop and fall in love with each other. I love the moment when Selina realises she feels more for Benjamin than perhaps she should.
"When had their relationship translated into more than a physical yearning? When did she start not just wanting him, but needing him?"
or this one
"She could never offer herself to any other man the way she offered her body to Benjamin. She knew that now. In that sense, he was the Master of her body."
We also get to find out about Benjamin's and Selina's pasts and how she got the scars on her body when their secrets are revealed.
My favorite scene has got to be the scene where Benjamin returns and finds Selina in the kitchen after she's burnt her arm. The tug of emotions in that scene made my eyes cloud with tears because I could so relate to her fear. And having a man who understands you that much is just...I can't even express the emotion.
All I can say it that I'm so glad to have the next instalment of the series, Scores, ready to read. I can't wait to find out what happens when they get to South Africa. Fabulous read.
In novella 2 we learn more about Selina and Benjamin, especially Benjamin. We learn why he left South Africa and his family. We also learn what happened to Selina that caused her physical and mental scars. We get to meet Benjamin's sister Beatrice and learn more about their family. This one delves even deeper into the BSDM scene and into Selina letting go even more. She is finally learning to trust Ben with her heart as well as her body. Will what she learns about Benjamin and his past destroy all they have or can she forgive him? Can the trust they have built be enough for her to stay and start to love him? I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading the next asap.
