The Jaguar's Bite is a VERY light read, so light I finished it within the hour. It is basically a formulaic shape-shifter MM romance complete with the romance and angsts expected. The good thing about this book is that the relationship between Luc and Blake developed even before the story begins so readers get into their romance knowing these two already have a bit of a platonic and tolerating relationship between them. It is as the story opens that we read these two men start to notice each other. Thing is, I really did not get the background as to WHY these two started noticing each other.

Their relationship go a bit mysterious at the mention of the "bonding" which was not explained all that well. The ceremony was glossed over as well. It was so glossed over that it was like looking down at a garden wedding from 27,000 feet above in an airplane complete with the background rucus inside the plane and the humm of the engines. Yeah, pretty glossed over so I have a VERY VAGUE impression on what actually happened. All I know is that AFTER the ceremony, the two are mated. And no, there is no mating cry here.

The antagonists appear and do their thing. But then again, it was still a very VAGUE event. I really don't know the why's behind the antagonism but the how's were quite clear. So I guess that should solve any issues any readers get in the process of reading this.

So okay, this is the nth book by Sunny Day that I have read but this is about the vaguest and lightest read encountered. It did give the required HEA ending we all crave for and the little bit of MM erotica against the wall but that is it.

Let me start with there WAS potential for this book but it was squashed. Frankly even if I'd liked it I would have been compelled to rate it lower anyways due to shoddy editing! Not so much grammer but poor sentence structuring! Several places missing a simple 'a' and 'the' which just made it read poorly. Did anyone else notice this????

For the story... I didn't really feel a connection between the MCs. Yes there was attraction, but it felt.. like one night stand type material? the word I'm thinking of is elusive and not coming to mind.. Perhaps like a casual hookup/sex buddy with no real attachments. Half the fun is building up to getting together but they were already seeing each other regularly with their groups and now for some reason they start to get the hots for each other.. coincidentally days before their groups get into it and a forced mating is then discussed and forced upon them.

This just did not come together for me..

Blake is the enforcer for his pride and is annoyed when he is reduced to being a babysitter when the younger pridemates want to go clubbing, but at least he has company that is a joy to look at. Luc is Blake's equal in the neighboring pack and he has no trouble with keeping Blake company in nightclubs. The pride Elders in both prides have come up with a plan keep the younger pridemates from causing trouble, but when the plan fails they resort to a custom that is very little used and Blake and Luc find themselves able to act on their attraction. But someone is unhappy and as things heat up danger comes and Blake and Luc prove to the prides that an alliance is worthwhile.

This is a great paranormal story that has a great pride structure and some great characters. Blake is a member of the Black Shadows jaguar pride and has a fierce attraction for his counterpart, Luc, in the Golden Grass lions pride, but a relationship would be frowned upon as they still have tentative peace between the prides. They are thrown together as they keep their younger pridemates in line but when that fails they are bonded together and it gives them both the excuse to act on their attraction. But some of their prides don't want peace and set out to cause trouble and as enforcers it is Luc's and Blake's place to find out who they are.

I really did enjoy this story and I loved how the prides were set up so there wasn't just one person in charge, the storyline was interesting and we meet some wonderful characters. Luc and Blake are two smoking hot characters who are attracted to each other but have to ignore it because of the tensions within their prides. When they can finally act on it they burn up the sheets and connect together perfectly. They also face problems from within the packs as some pridemates don't want peace between the prides and cause as much trouble as they can even if it endangers the young. Luc and Blake are great characters and this story fits them perfectly. The connecting of the prides to make it easier for them all is pretty interesting but we only get it from Luc and Blake's perspective so although we see the mating bond take place we don't really see how it happens other than some of the Elders chanting. My one bugbear with this story was the editing, I found it to be poor in places and it really detracted the story.

I recommend this to those who love paranormals coming to understandings, hot man on man sex, a touch of danger, an interesting storyline and really hot sexy ending.

Although

the story content and the main characters were okay the thing that had me questioning is do the author, editor or proof readers NOT know the word "the" because it's missing throughout the book
