Ruby's kind of finding her place at last and getting to be friends with May a bit, but now horrible Doris is implying nasty things about her father, who Ruby hasn't heard from since they moved. Turns out he's not just been trying to find work but has been in jail for embezzlement, which Ruby's mother kept a secret from Ruby.
