Highland Push

Rate this book
The Highland Destiny saga continues in Highland Push, a tale of betrayal, murder, and magick spanning two continents and hundreds of years.

Using the spell of time shifting, Alexander MacLachlan says good-bye to his beloved brother, his brother’s wife, and his own darling Alysone—necessary sacrifices for the survival of Druidry. With his family far in the future preparing for battle, Alex must fulfill his destiny: find the Worthington heir, then kill and be killed.

Thrust forward to a time not her own, Alysone and the others discover precious few light Druids remain to offer their protection to Scotia and the world. As the time for the prophesied battle grows nearer, past meets present, and they realize someone besides Alexander is manipulating events. In a race against time, they must discover the lost secrets of Druidry, even as the members of the dark Bresal Etarlam work to destroy all that is light and claim the Druid legacy as their own.

Highland Push is the third title in the four book Highland Destiny series.

In this part of the series Alex has sent all his family through the stone circle into the future. He must stay to carry out his part in history. His love Alysone is pregnant and he has had to send her away. He hopes she can be happy in the future.
Ian has always admired Alysone. He knows she will always love Alex, but Alex is seven hundred years in the past. He is prepared to be second best.
In the present time the Druids and their families must prepare for battle. With three pregnant women among them this needs to be secure.
They need to reclaim the lands, and rebuild from scratch.

The more I read of this series the deeper I get. There are so many wonderful characters. The bloodlines are so important, but some connections have been hidden.
Lots of magical shenanigans going on. Some for good some not. .
I'm glad I have the next part of the story ready to read.

After the first two books I was ready for a rollercoaster ride that would end with a bang. I wasn’t disappointed but when I finished I had to take some time off, a whole day, to figure out what the hack just happened.

This is the story of Ian, Alex…ok this is no one persons story but a way of bringing everything together. Usually I only one to hear on story at a time but this time I didn’t mind because I got to hang out with some old friends, find out the connections and watch some powerful magic performed. The bad part was that the insecurities and the secrets of one woman may cost the good Druids the fight for the universe.

There’s not much I can say about this book without giving things way because many of the characters that show up have been missing in action and some of the relationships revealed makes a person want to scream. It was hard to guess what was going to happen next and much of it could have been avoided if the communication was a lot better.

The one thing I can say is that one of the bad guys seems like he just may come over to the good side and that is something I am willing to take, well not exactly. I HATE him, he has caused so much trouble and I just do not have it in my heart to forgive.

This is by far the most suspenseful of the series so far. I am scared to read the last because I know that it will not turn out the way I think it will/should. Let the fun begin.

Review: 4.5 stars
General: **This must not be read before book 2** Book 3 in the series is hands down the best. It takes the wonderful elements from book 1 and the characters and storyline we were following from book 2 and combines them, chucking the unneeded stuff away. Fantastic! The issues from book 2 with grammar were fixed and overused sex scenes were still there but not as many covering the great plot. Also my second favorite cover (I loved book 1's).
The storyline in this still focuses on love and the Druid war brewing and raging (depending on where in the book you are.) The only downfall I found with this was there were too many couples. I understand set up for a next book, but there were three couples focused on this book and not in a propitiate fashion to really fall in love with Alexander and Alysone.

Characters: Alysone- Alysone was a sweet character. I found her innoncence and determination wonderful and of the females she has been my favorite.
Alexander- Alexander was all that a sexy highlander male needs to be. He was brave and daring and gallant and of course, smoking in bed. I really felt the emotional connection between him and Alysone more on his end but loved them together.

I'm sorry, but I thought this was terrible. From a "fantasy book" standpoint, there are some heinous inconsistencies in the magical details. From a "romance book" standpoint, it's just too much and too ridiculous to be any good. (To me) This series has experienced a main character explosion leaving the story about as well organized as a tornado leaves a trailer park.

The last book started to peek over the cliff of ridiculousness and this one just jumped right off in a spectacular backwards launch cannonball. It's kinda like someone put a bunch of different paranormal themes in a box and shook them all together before dumping everything out and then squeezed a big bottle of lube over the pile. Ew. Oh And, now everybody's related. There's no incest going on, but seriously it's kinda weird. Everybody is so closely related I had to map it out in my head and double check.

And, it's not over yet! There is not yet another book published that I'm aware of and I thought this was a trilogy. It's not. Nothing got wrapped up in this book. And the ending is a cheap trick cliff hanger.

But hey, different strokes for different folks. You might like it.

This is book three in The Highland Destiny series. I loved the first two books and was definitely not disappointed in this one. Alexander MacLachlan makes the ultimate sacrifice. There is no other way but Alexander has to stay in the past to fulfill his destiny while sending the people he loves to the future all for the survival of Druidry. The fight against the Bresal Eterlam continues as Elena, Faolan, Gabhran, Miranda Ian and Alysone search for the much needed secrets of the druids for they will need them as the time of the prophesied battle draws near. There were some nice twists and turns in this book and I was hooked from the beginning. Very curious to find out what will happen next.

WARNING: once you begin, you will be hooked and lose sleep.
You will not want to do anything else until you know what happens next.

I read this as part of the complete collection.
This series must be read in order.

In the third selection, it is not just country hopping. It is real forward time travel to save the Druids. Again the characters are well developed and the plot threads flow together extremely well. The story is complex, dangerous. And exciting.

Again great book (I know broken record right?) love the difference in how time travel works in these, although sometimes I find myself backing up to make sure I can tell which character is doing what and from where.

Intrigue, Magick, love

Love lost and then found again and another is lost hopefully only for a short time. The battle is coming, mysteries abound, the deceitful ones look like they are winning. Or are they?
The Highland Destiny series is truly epic!

This book had more twists and turns than the 2 previous ones. The climax continually escalating to new heights. All the new relationships that have come to light just make you not want to put it down. Don't like the latest Liam part.... grrrrr
