*I received a copy of this book in exchange for honest review*

Risky is part two in the Torn Between Two Lovers and picks up where Raw ended. A heartbroken Anna has fled to Aruba to get over Grayson’s betrayal and there she meets Joaquin Delacruz.

Joaquin is wealthy and gorgeous casino mogul he’s a reformed bad boy who also happens to be Grayson enemy. Joaquin always gets what he wants and he wants Anna. It isn’t long before Anna is falling for this powerful man, and starts to get is mixed up in his world.

“She was here to forget, to move on. Her heart might need more convincing though”

I did like the storyline, hot, steamy, and action packed, but with more suspense than the first book. I have to admit I had an issue with Anna during this book, I just could understand how she could move on from Grayson so quickly, especially once she knew who Joaquin was. Don’t get me wrong, he was honest with her from the start, and he was very charming, sweep her off her feet, and as much as I like him at times I was still #Team Grayson.

I’m looking forward to the last book in the series to discover who the readers picked Anna. #Team Grayson or #Team Joaquin. If I had voted at the time, it would have voted #TeamGrayson

She's suppose to be trying to get over Gray's betrayal, when she crosses paths with Joaquin, whom she sleeps with the first night she met him, even knowing he originally sought her out to hurt Gray. Top that off with some really bad editing using Gray's name when it should have been Joaquin. While I liked Gray and I like Joquin, Anna comes across as very shallow. Ending doesn't resolve any issues, grrr

Much Better than the first! And I'm totally Team Joaquin!

In this second installment of Torn Between Two Lovers, Ms. Davis delivered the full story of the love triangle. Where Raw focuses solely on Anna Claire’s Relationship with Grayson James, Risky focuses on Anna’s relationship with Joaquin. And personally, I enjoyed this novel much better than the first and totally loving Joaquin more than Gray. Yes, I admit, I AM MOST DEFINITELY TEAM JOAQUIN.

Risky takes off right where Raw had ended. Anna now is taking her vacation away from Gray and meeting the third members of this love triangle. I actually enjoyed Anna and Joaquin’s story. Their coming together is raw and honest. I thought their attraction was off the charts from the get go and Joaquin coming clean with his intentions was unexpected. I actually thought he would lie through his teeth to get Anna into his bed and later fall for her like Gray did. But he did it; he managed to get my attention as well as Anna’s. Not only he swept her off her feet, he took the time to get to know her and to let her get to know him. That kind of beginning just takes away that insta-love type of relationship as what Anna had with Gray. And if she was smart she would do well to choose the honest man versus the one that lied from the beginning. Joaquin is dangerous, with a not so innocent past (but straightening out his present), rich, and hot as hell. There’s just no better choice.

Ms. Davis also added a bit of action and more suspense in this installment which I enjoyed more than the first book. The steam factor was hotter and I find I find it more sensual. Like I said, Ms. Davis delivered her story well and I enjoyed every bit of it. The next series will be the decision of who Anna will end up with. If you didn’t already know, Ms. Davis has not decided on whom Anna will choose. This will be up to the readers who will vote for the man they want Anna with. If you couldn’t tell already by my review, I am totally for Team Joaquin.

So when we left Anna Claire at the end of the first book Raw she was sunning herself in Aruba after fleeing New York when she realised that the man in her bed Grayson James is actually an undercover FBI agent who has been investigating her involvement in a suspected drugs trafficking ring. Anna had just been approached by the wealthy and gorgeous casino mogul Joaquin Delacruz.

Risky the second book in the trilogy is pretty much Joaquin's book, a reformed bad boy he's charming, ruthless and is the sworn enemy of Grayson. A former drugs lord (his brother was arrested as part of Grayson's investigation) he's honest with Anna right from the outset about his past and literally sweeps her off her feet. Joaquin has decided he wants to go legit and he wants Anna by his side but he still has his enemies and Anna ends up in the crossfire.

I love the idea that the reader can decide if they are #TeamGrayson or #TeamJoaquin and vote on who they think Anna should choose. I had to write a pros and cons list to help me decide! Here's what I have so far- Grayson is the good guy, the hero who wants to put the bad guys behind bars although he did lie to Anna it was to rule her out of the investigation and protect her but can she ever forgive him? On the other hand we have Joaquin who's upfront about his past and wants to go legit but can Anna ignore the fact he was a dangerous and ruthless drugs lord? Decisions, decisions!

Since I always love a bad boy I'm firmly on #Team Joaquin but I hope that Grayson does get his HEA too. I can't wait to see what the public decides (you can vote here), the final book in the trilogy Rewarded will be released in February 2014.

3-1/2 stars.

Risky picks up pretty much right where Raw ends, with Anna meeting Joaquin on the beach at the resort in Aruba that she fled to after being betrayed by Gray. Despite his dangerous exterior and her heart being broken so recently, Joaquin intrigues Anna and she agrees to go to dinner with him.
When she'd met Gray, the attraction had been more of a slow burn as he flirted with her in the restaurant each day. But this? Never before had desire slammed her so forcefully, so fast. And for a dangerous man, too, if Joaquin's faithful shadow [bodyguard] was any indication.

He immediately sweeps her off her feet and lays it all out for her--he wants to get to know her better and comes clean about his original intentions to get close to her to spite Gray. She falls for him and accompanies him back to his estate when his trip is cut short due to a business emergency. I'm not going to tell you what happens, but it certainly ends with some drama, and I definitely want to see what happens when Rewarded , the conclusion to the series, hits e-readers in February.

Suprisingly, I liked Risky a little more than I liked Raw . I didn't expect to find myself liking Joaquin at all. I do like him, and though I understand Anna's reluctance to trust Gray ever again, I don't understand how she can allow herself to fall for someone in the mafia. Sure, he says he's going straight, but so what? His original intention was to get to know her to get back at his nemesis, so he and Gray aren't that different in the telling lies department. Joaquin just laid it out earlier than Gray did.

With that being said, I'm not saying that I'm #TeamGray. I thought that I would be, but now I don't know. What I do know is that I don't like Anna. I don't believe that she could be so heartbroken over Gray and literally sleeping with someone else two days later. I think Davis did a much better job of developing the story with this novella than she did with Risky, and I think that judging by the chemistry and insta-lust that developed between Anna and Joaquin, it's clear that she's #TeamJoaquin.

What do I think will happen? Well, it's all up to the voters but if you want to know what I think, you can highlight the spoiler:
That could be too soap-opery. LOL

Regardless of who Anna ultimately ends up with, the choose your own adventure-eqsue idea for this story is amazing, and I can't wait to see how it pans out. Grab your copies of Raw and Risky and then go vote on Facebook, now through December 10!

Risky is the second book in the Torn between two Lovers trilogy. It is a novella and is less than 100 pages, but OMG! It is so good!

Risky picks up right where Raw left off. Anna has had to step away from her business in New York and has found herself a nice hotel in Aruba. Still reeling from the events in Raw, she’s taking a little time out to sort out her feelings. Grayson is back in New York dealing with the aftermath of events that blew up in the previous novella.

While chilling on the beach Anna is approached by a handsome, brooding man who sparks a conversation and buys Anna a drink. Joaquin Delacruz is gorgeous, charming, desirable and dangerous and Anna doesn’t know what she’s letting herself in for when she agrees to have dinner with him. It’s at dinner that Joaquin tells Anna who he really is and his real reason for coming to Aruba, and it isn’t the beach, he came for Anna.

It’s at this point where I started to scream for Anna to get up and walk away, why doesn’t she see sense? Why is she still sat at the table and not running for her life, she is having dinner with a murderer after all?!

And then I get it.

Joaquin maybe bad news, but he’s telling her the truth, it’s dark and dangerous, but Joaquin isn’t really that person, not anymore, he’s going legit and he legitimately wants Anna. When Anna accepts Joaquin’s romantic proposals neither one of them are prepared for what happens next, Anna’s life is in danger and the only person who can help is Joaquin’s nemesis and Anna’s lover, FBI Agent, Grayson Sloane.

I absolutely LOVED this novella! Fast paced, full of action and excitement, I was completely and utterly hooked! The world building is brilliant; the characters are fleshy and strong, especially Joaquin. Joaquin’s character really comes alive, we know about his past, what he’s capable of and what he wants, this is something that I missed from the previous novella.

The romance between Anna and Joaquin is very heated and full on. There are a lot of sexy times and naughties going on and it really suits Joaquin’s character. The attraction between them I felt was very lustful and wanton, definitely passionate and intense, however their relationship feels different. I personally didn’t feel an emotional attachment between them, not like I did with Grayson and Anna.

I didn’t get to ‘see’ a lot of Grayson in this book, but whenever he made a presence it certainly had an impact. Grayson is so punchy in this book, and I could really see glimmers of his personality shining through.

The ending... Oh my, I need Rewarded NOW... Please!

I really loved Risky. The world and the characters that Jo Davis has created is full of suspense and excitement and really has great potential for a bigger book, or an expansion beyond this trilogy.

The final book in this trilogy is out March 2014. However the fun doesn’t end just yet, now that I’ve read Raw and Risky and experienced both of these yummy men I can now vote for my favourite. It’s the reader’s choice who decides who Anna will end up with, Team Grayson or Team Joaquin?!

Team Grayson gets my vote!

Joaquin is a billionaire casino owner and businessman. He's also the older brother of Manny, the criminal spearhead of the cocaine bust at Anna's restaurant.

Anna takes time away from NYC to regroup after the drug bust & shootings. She calls off her relationship with Gray, not being able to get past the sense of betrayal. She heads to Aruba for an undetermined amount of time.

That's where she meets Joaquin. He follows her there, intending to use her to get back at Gray. But once he meets her in person, he can't find it in himself to be that heartless. Instead, he finds himself drawn to her & wanting to share more than a cocktail or dinner with her.

As threats begin to escalate around him, he asks Anna to return to NJ with him, to his estate, where they can continue to relax but with more security.

Ultimately, Joaquin's powerful enemies succeed in threatening his life and manage to kidnap Anna in the same power play.

-----------------------------------------

I am a little disappointed that Anna is allowing herself to "fall" for Joaquin so easily when she claims that she loves Gray. She does not hesitate to go to NJ to be with Joaquin, without checking in with her mother - who's essentially put HER life on hold (not returning to FL as planned) to babysit Anna's kitten, a gift from Gray BTW - or the restaurant.

Joaquin seems like a sincere enough guy, but I just don't see a good match in lifestyles. Also, she loves her restaurant in NYC, his home and businesses are in NJ. Anna claims she cannot live with Gray's profession because he could get hurt again or worse. Well, it should go both ways, but she's not using the same logic with Joaquin & his family's power & influence - even knowing upfront that he's made some nasty enemies & looks at the threats against his life as another day in his life.

I don't know who I would have voted for.
I have no tolerance for liars, but understand the fact that Gray had to create a cover for the FBI. So, that & the investigation MAY be forgivable with enough grovelling.
Joaquin's open & honest approach are a big plus, but the line of bad guys looking to hurt him or anyone close to him is a huge negative. Also a negative, the way he orders her drinks and food every time, without asking.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Vivacious Valkyrie – Marta:

*eARC received from the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

The is the second instalment in the "Torn Between Two Lovers " trilogy and follows immediately on from "Raw". It's an interesting concept as the author intends to open up her Facebook page to allow readers to vote and therefore determine the outcome of the trilogy.

Anna Claire felt betrayed by Grayson Sloan, FBI agent at the end of Raw. He had been working undercover at her Manhattan restaurant in a bid to take down a drug ring. Feeling badly used and deceived by him Anna has fled to Aruba to lick her wounds. Nursing her broken heart she is determined to just try and forget about men!

Anna's life is about get more complicated as she has been followed by Joaquin Delacruz, a man who her ex Gray is determined to bring to justice. Joaquin is everything Anna wants in a man except for his families shady past. His family's fortune is built on a bed of crime and although he's trying hard to go legit his enemies fear what he might reveal about them.

Anna is impressed by Joaquin's honesty with her and finds herself falling for his charm. What starts out as a lighthearted affair soon hurtles both Anna and Joaquin into a passionate relationship that can only result in heartbreak and danger!

I found this a very interesting read as I wasn't quite sure how the author could make such a quick change of heart for Anna believable. In the first book she's madly in love with Gray and yet shortly after she's falling for the admittedly gorgeous Joaquin! I think I am convinced but that's only because I thought Anna was quite a shallow character and truthfully didn't really like her as much as I wanted to. Although to be fair to be a winner in business she would have to be completely selfish and dedicated.

So how will it all end and just who will Anna end up with? If honest I have my own idea of what could happen but it's fun to think that the readers get to choose. Third book in this trilogy is Reward and all that's left to say is - are you team Grayson or Team Joaquin?

ARC provided by the Publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Jo Davis and her publishers had a brilliant concept. They created a series where the readers could chose the hero in the final book . The Torn Between Two Lovers series by Jo Davis will leave the readers torn. Do we chose the handsome FBI agent, Grayson James; or do we chose the dangerous crime lord, Joaquin Delacruz. Both are charismatic men.

In October we met Grayson James. Now it is time to meet Joaquin Delacruz.

Joaquin Delacruz is a sophitiscated, wealthy casino mogul. His family fortune and present power were built on crime. His brother, Manny Delacruz was brought down in a drug bust by Grayson James. That very bust is what caused Grayson to lose Anna Claire. Joaquin Delacruz is curious about Anna. He wants to know what kind of woman could bring his enemy, Grayson James, to his knees. When he meets Anna, he understands his most hated enemy’s downfall. She is a woman unlike any other. He is falling for Anna. He will do everything in his power to keep her at his side.

James is not the only enemy Joaquin Delacruz has. In his quest to become a legitimate business owner he has enraged his former associates. They will do anything to stop Joaquin. The only way to stop Joaquin is to take Anna from him.

Joaquin has to turn to his enemy, Grayson James, for help to get Anna back. He will do anything to keep her alive, even giving her up to Grayson.

We will find out the conclusion to this steamy story in the final book, Rewarded, March 2014. Who will win Anna? Go vote! I know who I am voting for!

Voting will be live on Facebook between November 19, 2013 and December 10, 2013.
Vote For Your Favorite Hero Here
Both heroes are swoon worthy. I hope Jo Davis will give whichever hero doesn’t win Anna’s love, their own book and happy ending.

This second entry in the Torn Between Two Lovers series revolves around Anna and Joaquin. After what she felt was a betrayal by FBI agent Grayson, heads off to Aruba where she encounter Mister tall, dark and gorgeous Joaquin. Little does she know he's the man Grayson has been trying to catch his hand at being dirty. Joaquin's intentions is to use Anna to hurt Grayson, but instead he finds himself very much attracted to her as she does to him. Unlike Grayson, he hides absolutely nothing from her. Anna quickly finds herself in a world-wind romance with Joaquin. Now the only question left is which man will Anna chose...Grayson or Joaquin.

Just as the first book in the series, Risky reads fast and is loaded with romance, smoldering sex and intrigue. Unfortunately I am even more iffy on if I like Anna character. Where running her own restaurant was such a issue in the first book, it just doesn't seem that it's all that important to her now. Joaquin is a hot, rich, self-assured and probably everything a woman could want. The sex between them is sizzling and Joaquin sure does know how to romance a girl. Yet there's something missing. Oh wait...he's not Grayson! Where Grayson's romance with Anna was probably not the smartest thing he could have done, their meeting was part of his job. Joaquin's meeting was initiated by revenge. Granted he didn't carry through on hurting Anna but still he deliberately did set out to follow her for that reason.

So in case you haven't figured it out, I am Team Grayson. One more book to go before we find out which man Anna chooses. I still think the fans voting for which guy gets the girl is a fairly interesting concept. I can't wait to see how this plays out. And, with Risky ending on such a cliffhanger I find myself itching for the next book to be released. May the best man win!

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

This book picks up directly following the end of Raw. Anna is devastated by Grayson’s betrayal and decides it is best to put some distance between them. So she fled New York for the beautiful beaches in Aruba where she meets Joaquin. The accelerated romance between them is honest, passionate and made my decision easy. Which team will you be on #TeamGrayson or #TeamJoaquin.

I cannot wait until the release of Rewarded to see which will of these two enemies will win Anna’s heart.

I liked the first one in this series, but this one was lacking. I liked Gray and Anna together, but hated how he used her and it seemed like they fell in love pretty fast. So it was a little hard to for me to believe that Anna would hop into bed so fast with Joaquin. The one thing that I can say for Joaquin was that he was honest with Anna and why he first looked her up. It was also due to that that it was hard to buy the romance with Anna.

I was a little surprised with how things ended, both with Anna and Joaquin. It will be interesting to see how Joaquin and Gray work together.

I am not really one of those women that can jump from one bed to another with almost no time in between, no matter the justification. However that is what Anne did and not. just with one but with Gray's enemy, Joaquin. Now if you have read some of Ms. Davis' book you will remember him and I really enjoyed a better look at him. I am glad I did not read this while the voting was going on because I am not sure who to vote for. Both have their good points and their bad.

After feeling betrayed by Gray Anna decides to take a holiday and meets Joaquin. He is dark, dangerous and sexy. I get the attraction and why she is drawn to him. He tells her the truth about his plan was before he met her. Gray and Joaquin are enemies which complicates things. I know who I want her to pick, can't wait girl book 3.
