When Georgia McAllister – self-named fashion goddess, store-branded size twelve – applied for a new job as a CEO’s secretary, she was far from imagining she’d just taken the very first step towards her dreams. It’s definitely not easy to start a new career at thirty – could that even be called a career, by then?
Either way, she got it and she wasn’t letting it go, not even for the latest Chanel clutch she’d been keeping her eye on for months. But she might have to, if she doesn’t gather the strength to deal with Mr. OCD, Mr. All-kinds-of-rude-and-cold, Mr. CEO, Julian von Hauser
This is a perfect example of how to butcher an otherwise cute little chic-lit story beyond all recognition. I really thought I've seen it all but this "text" convinced me of the contrary!
A reviewer speculated that this must have been written in another language and "google-translated" afterwards. So in case you are wondering what these weird signs at the top of my review mean: it's traditional Chinese and the result of the bing-translation of my review. I hope it makes sense in Chinese. If not, I will have to get it edited, right? ;))
I was looking for a fun and light read, so I kind of randomly picked it up on my freebies collection on kindle.
The story follows up Georgia McAllister, she is applying to a new job as a CEO's secretary, set on seeing it as the way to finally have a career, a first step on fulfilling her dreams in fashion. But let's just say that the interview doesn't go very well. But in a twist from faith, a kick ass rescuing by our heroine, she is hired for that job after all. Between the demands of a cold and OCD boss, Julian, the attention of a movie star that makes her feel like a deer in the headlights, she also have to deal with gossip and some shady corporate.
Now did I enjoyed the story in all it's crazyness? I did.
Although I admit that it must have been the book with more typos that I ever seen. It was a bit of a turn off. But regarding to the story, that were times that I thought Georgia wasn't very mature and others that she was just hilarious. My favorite part was indeed Julian and the whole arch of his character, I loved that it wasn't insta-love or insta-lust, that the more they were familiar with the quirks of one another, the more attracted they were. It was lovely, how G tried to help him live a little, and how they teased each other.
Read: 23 October 2013 Why: Number 1 free book on itunes
Brief synopsis: With a résumé that could easily be mistaken for a career guide, yet another failed interview and no sign of the Prince Charming those Disney films promised her; Georgia was starting to think her life was doomed.
But luck can change in the blink of an eye, or in Georgia's case, when tackling an armed robber with only her pantyhose and size 12 thighs! Both boyfriends and jobs can appear from the strangest of places...
What I thought: This book had so much potential - a great storyline and fantastic characters. Unfortunately, the writing let it down. The book is riddled with grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, sentences that do not make sense and at one point Julian was referred to as Julia. The wannabe teacher in me was itching to get a red pen out and start making corrections. I was very glad I'd not had to pay for the book.
It's a real shame as there was so much potential in the book but it was completely overshadowed by the poor/complete lack of editing.
Before I start my Rambling first of all let me tell you that there are typos in this book, BUT don't let that stop you from reading it as the Author is working on a new revision due to the typo's Hallelujah Praise the lord.
That Aside this is a very cute and adorable i makes me want to grab its cheeks and tell it how cute and adorable it is, this story that will have you laughing through out the day.
yo have Georgia a feisty Fashionista , she is Happy full of life, kind , loving and a person who never gives up. she has a flare for Danger ( the Reckless Kind hahahha) she is not afraid to Jump out in front a flying bullet if it means saving the People she Loves.
Julian is the new CEO of Pandora he is the total Opposite of "G". he is Moody, Serious has trust issues, OCD and to top it all of He has a Phobia to Germs. (Fun times)
3.5 stars actually as I did like the Story. This is the first Book I read via the Apple library. The story was lovely and romantic and I enjoyed it. However.....there were a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. And in the first half of the book the chapters didn't flow. A few times I had to go back to the previous read chapter just to be sure I hadn't missed a page or jumped a chapter. The characters are great though. Georgia is a hoot and she knows just what to do and Julian.....well the man is just...drool worthy. If you can overlook the mistakes in this Book and just read the story for the stories sake I would recommend this Book as great escapism read
This is chick lit. If you like Bridget Jones and Sex and The City you may like this. It's obvious English is not the authors first language. The writing style is quite rushed and erratic which made it quite difficult to read and I felt that although the heroine Georgia was nearing 30, she came across very immature.
If this receives a good edit and a bit of 'polishing' it would be an improvement.
This book is really good, the plot twists are amazing, the names are creative. There were quite a lot of spelling and grammatical errors,i so wanted to re-write and edit the book myself and send it back to the writer, but disregarding that it was a brilliant read
Really enjoyed this book! Such great characters, a romance with a male who is flawed yet still dreamy. Would have been a 5 star if not for the typos. Please write more!
I came across this book totally by chance. I downloaded from Smashwords, because I recently discovered the site, and I've been choosing books that seem unique....Well! This book definably took the cake, for sure. It was so...refreshing? I suppose. I can't really describe it, but even though the main character was sort of childish, and at times annoying I loved her, and it didn't bother me one bit. Probably because Julian was annoyed enough for the both of us, which was hilarious, and again very refreshing in a male character. Honestly, I'm so sick of the male main characters thinking every freaking thing the female does is sexy... Female character sneezes, and looks completely dead with no makeup Male character's reaction "Damn. That was sexy. Let's make mad monkey love" YEAH RIGHT! It's so unrealistic, and NEVER happens in real life. But this book, God it portrayed everything so realistically. The main male character did not swoon over the female character for QUITE some time, and I relished every second of it! And I really hope this amazing author has something else up her sleeve, because besides a few typos, I devoured it, and am hoping she'll be giving us another original book soon....maybe dealing with another disability of sorts? A girl can dream right?

Georgia lives in New York and dreams of working as a fashion journalist and applies for a job as secretary to Julian who is a total snob when he reads her resume. From there the story gets better and more LOL moments happen. Great story and characters..I love the story and give it 5 stars even though there were ALOT of spelling errors. I'm smart so I knew what she meant so it was all good. The book was free too, so it was a very cute read.
So many grammar errors and typos in this book that it nearly put me off continuing to read it. It was almost as if it had been written in a hurry and not edited at all before being made available to the public to read. Ignoring the errors, the book is a fun read, although I feel that G's weight doesn't feature strongly enough to earn the title of the book.
I really enjoyed the book and I can not wait to read more from the author. Just to make you aware there are typos in the book so you will need to read around them, don't let that stop you as it is very good. The main characters are lovely and G is a strong, independent and funny. The characters are easy to love and connect with through the storey.
So many typos in the book, I feel it should be renamed because her weight doesn't really factor into the book all that much? Overall pretty good storyline, slightly to predictable, classic fairy tale story, if only reality was as simple/easy?
The story was about Georgia McAllister who got a job as a secretary of a CEO in a huge publishing company. (Of course) The CEO was not an easy person to handle - with his COD and all political problems in the company, Julian von Hauser did not give Georgia easy time to do her job properly and being herself. Thing started to change when she got to know him better and finally asked the question to herself: had she fallen for the cold and challenging CEO?
I kinda like this book, even though some chapters are too cliche and predictable. For example, when Georgia suddenly dated Piet (Julian's friend who was a movie star) even though they barely talked to each other except for couple of lunches. That was just too cheesy, and you could tell right away that it was only a phase before she realized that she actually liked Julian instead of his best friend.
Overall it was not too bad for a simple reading in your spare time.
Simple straightforward and something to pass the time without requiring brain to be fully engaged, not my normal reading fodder but not bad for a bit of a change.
Both main characters very likeable But, did get annoyed with the spelling mistakes or wrong word use. Also felt some parts of the story a bit far fetched!
'Diary of a Size 12' follows dream-chasing 30-year-old Georgia McAllister who moves from Tennessee to New York in search of her big break into the fashion world. After trying just about every job you can think of, Georgia finally gets an interview for a job that could just help her on her way to being a high-flying fashion journalist. The interview does not at all go to plan and Georgia leaves feeling like a failure. A little later, Karma works in Georgia's favour and her luck changes... she gets her first break into the world of fashion and how? Well... she breaks up an armed mugging on the streets of New York, an armed mugging against a Hollywood movie star and the CEO of a top 4 company...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book; I really could not put it down. The storyline was constantly moving and it actually made me laugh out loud. I really loved Georgia and Julian; I thought the author captured their personalities perfectly and really made them leap out of the page. I loved the depth of Julian’s character and enjoyed reading about his journey and the ways in which he overcomes his illness with Georgia’s help. I would have loved to be able to give this book 4 or 5 stars but due to a few problems, I just couldn’t allow myself.
My first problem was surrounding the spelling throughout the book. It seems that the majority is down to simple typos but I do not think there is an excuse because a simple word processor should have picked a lot of them up. I think this could have put many readers off and they wouldn’t have been able to appreciate the excellent story behind all the errors.
Other than the above (I’m just giving constructive criticism!), I really did enjoy the story of this book and will be looking out for more by this author.
So... Diary of a Size 12 was a fine book. Not my cup of tea, but it was a bit nice to have a little change from the retellings that I'm obsessed with. Only there were a few things that really kinda sorta bothered me. The grammar and missing words just irked me, as I'm sure most or all of the other readers of this book have noticed. I honestly want to take this book, edit it a million times (just to make sure, of course), then let it fly away into people's hands again. This is why I want to be an editor. The other thing that kinda sorta bugs me is the name of the book Diary of a Size 12. When I think of a diary, I think of "dear diary"'s written at the top and dates of when the events happened. The title doesn't fit with the writing style. I don't know what it could be called, but I think it should be something different
Very slow start...it was kinda hard to keep up with it...sometimes our heroine, G. sounded like a vain bimbo...which sucked big time...and I so wanted to quit on it, but then i was like "nah! i've spend so much time reading it...i should finish it!" and I did and I don't regret it at all...After Mr. sexy hunk Rush and Super sexy and troubled Mr. van Hauser, CEO, went from cold to flirty, it all became more interesting i have to say...Super cute and romantic novel...a bit too long tho, and sometimes i skipped lines cos they were like yadah yadah yadah to me...but overall it was good and fun to read...BUT my kindle copy had too many spelling errors which was a bummer, really...I give to it 3 stars...
Great book, fantastic story. I loved the style of writing, the pace, the characters and everything. Certainly the writer has read FSOG and used some elements from that book, slightly altering them... I am not gonna go into detail because I don't want to spoil the story by giving away too much...but at certain points it made me feel I was reading a Fifty shades of grey fan fiction... Also, my Kindle copy was full of grammatical errors- although I cannot complain much, as it was free... I still gave it 5 stars because it did not affect my reading experience but I would certainly get it proofread...

Literally could not put my phone down! Loved the plot, the twists, characters, just everything! ... Minus the numerous spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes in general. Sadly that did take away from the story a bit. Georgia and Julian both went through a significant amount of character development which I think worked well to keep me interested. Also loved how there wasn't some huge dramatic incident between G and Julian. Those pure drama moments seem too common in romance stories nowadays .
