He was a ruthless killer who’d killed so many people he had forgotten their faces. She was still a newbie and knew squat about killing, but she was prepared to protect the ones she loved no matter what the cost. When his hands encircled her neck and his fangs pierced her soft flesh, he almost forgot his task. She didn’t. She knew what she had to do to stop him. Even if she had to pay for it with her life.

The writing is smooth and slick with a definite urgency. It didn't seem like anyone was going to rest until Lucas would find his brothers killer. From the first page you are taken into a place where vampires and killing are a normal occurrence. I read with vigor wanting to know where this paranormal story was going to lead me. I was pretty much glued to it until I finished the last page. This suspenseful story was unique and the cast of characters lured me.
If you are a fan of vampire books you will love this series. The first two are both well done and a fun escape into the unknown.
"I found myself at the club again. It was becoming a bad habit and I should do something about it. People had started to notice me and that was bad. Soon they'd start talking, and it was only a matter of time before I'd find myself surrounded by unwanted company. Yeah, I had that kind of reaction wherever I went. Only a few had met a man with a tattoo like mine and even fewer were alive to talk about it, but word traveled and I hadn't exactly hidden my legendary mark."
The story picks up where number one leaves off. Sam and Kate are still newborn vampires trying to fit into and understand their new lives and struggling to cope with leaving their old lives, including family behind. Their love lives continue to be complicated and full of passion and action. Lucas the new vampire on the scene is super hot but also very mysterious and very very dangerous. Once again i found myself turning page after page, unable to put the book down. The ending was very well written with the right amount of terror and excitement and it ends on a fantastic cliffhanger. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves vampire/paranormal romance books. For mature young adults and adults.
Author Jennifer Loiske gives us 'Lucas', the second novel in the 'Immortal Blood' series. Having read and reviewed the first in series, 'Club Number Five' it is time for me to admit I do not really have a penchant for vampire stories. There, I said it. Moreover, although having admitted my predisposition, I have now to confess that Author Loiske has, through her great writing of her first novel 'Club...', and now 'Lucas', won me over. By about Chapter 19 of 'Lucas' I was really appreciating a great read. From the First Person of both antagonists and protagonists, if you can figure out whom the 'Goodies' and the 'Baddies' are, you have guessed as much through a lot of great writing. It is Five-Stars for the writing, storytelling and for persuading this reader to consider, then appreciate a different genre... I do not think it an easy accomplishment for most authors. Well done.

"Lucas" was an amazing and exciting read. I loved it just as much as I love "Club Number Five." I read the book in one sitting; it is definitely hard to put it down once you start reading it. Lucas wants revenge for the death of his brother and in order to find out exactly how his brother was killed he needs to get into Kate, Sam, Dane and Jonathans circle. He needs someone to focus on and he chooses Sam. His sire warns him not to touch Sam but certain events happen and Lucas does the one thing his isn't supposed to do. Revenge is sweet and Lucas will stop at nothing to get it but in the process he lets his desire for Sam cloud his judgment and it ends up costing him in the end. Everyone believes the saying an eye for an eye and no one would have guessed the Jason was behind the whole thing. He had his eye on the prize and he's determined to make it his one way or another. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I look forward to see what will happen with Dane, Sam and Jason. I highly recommend this book to anyone who read and love "Club Number Five," and if you haven't read this series yet I highly suggest pick it up; you will absolutely love it.
The beginning of Lucas confused me for a while since I thought it was Sam’s thoughts, and then when I realised it was Lucas, I went back to read the end of the first book again. And then things fell beautifully into place. A great twist right in the beginning of the book that holds your attention and keeps you turning the pages.
I felt the same surge of pity for Jonathan, a bit of anger mixed with reluctant love for Dane, and then there was Sam! As brave as ever, as gullible as ever, still protecting her friend and her boys. Her character has evolved a lot and Kate feels more like how Sam was in the first book. It was wonderful meeting these characters again.
And Jennifer Loiske has left me hanging once more, with a suspense filled ending and waiting to get my hands on the next book and see how this last twist turns out. If you’re a vampire groupie like me, this is a must read and for those who haven’t been introduced to them, this is a great introduction!
“Lucas” by Jennifer Loiske is the second installment in the Immortal Blood series. Club No. 5 was a fantastic read that left off on a killer cliffhanger, and I couldn’t wait to dive into this next book so I borrowed it through the Kindle Lending Library. I was so glad I did. Learning more about the characters made the first book even better (as if that was possible). I thoroughly enjoyed the journey Lucas took me on, and found myself biting my nails throughout the book. Lucas is a fascinating character and being inside of his head was mind-blowing. Loiske did an excellent job of not only character development but overall storytelling. The twists and turns kept me reading, the descriptions were just enough to not detract from the story…and then there’s Lucas. The character you don’t necessarily want to like, but you just can’t help yourself.
I liked Ms Louiske's use of first person. I enjoyed her unique storytelling style where Vampires, mystery, murder and romance flowed together in such an entertaining way. When a protagonist lends their name to the book's title, the author must make sure that he/she is addictive, and that they carry the story throughout. Lucas certainly did this in spades, giving us a wonderful look inside his character and leaving me, at least, rooting for him, even though he was a , bad boy! I must confess that I rarely read books on Vampires but I will certainly be following this series, which has well and truly captured my attention.
I have left out the description of the actual story in this review, for fear of spoiling it for others, but I urge you to read this series, beginning with Club Number 5. You will not be disappointed.
You don’t necessarily need to have read the first book in the series to understand or enjoy this story, although I can’t imagine why anyone would not want to start from the beginning. You would be missing out on a good book if you skipped Club Number 5 and only started with Lucas. Plus, there are things that happen in the first book that resurface in the second. Although Jennifer briefly mentions the past, you’ll want to know all the details. Trust me, they are good!
I enjoyed reading Lucas as much as the first book in the series and can’t wait to read the next book in line. I am now addicted and I am sure that you will be too.
I wish I could say more, but I would just end up ruining the surprise. No fun keeping it all to myself, so start reading!!!
Okay, I read "Club Number Five" and had to get some more, so I went ahead and bought "Lucas" this morning. Again, I could NOT put this book down, and devoured it in one gulp. An amazing book of a vampire doing the right thing but for all the wrong reasons interspersed with another one trying to do the right thing but doing it wrong and getting eyes-deep in trouble, all mixed in and among mysteries I can't wait to see unfold in the midst of vampiric politics. This one is a MUST READ. I loved it!
Ok, so this book was not what I expected. Having read Club Number Five, I don't know why I didn't anticipate the direction Ms Loiske took the book in but I enjoyed it throughly nonetheless. I loved Lucas. Hands down - great mix of bad boy/villain. Not going to lie, the sadistic part of me enjoyed his mistakes and the consequences of those mistakes - I'll say no more on that front though! I like that there was a change of perspective for this novel although I've got to say...I saw the ending coming. Doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy finding out more in book 3!!
Carrying on with the theme of Club Five, Jennifer Loiske has created a book that kept me engrossed from the first page. She introduces you to the main character slowly, letting you find out the motives for the book until the final few chapters, where you receive an amazing twist! I've enjoyed reading it and will be sitting down to read the third book of the series - I want to know how this series ends!
A brilliant second book in the series. A mean central character who finds out that his softer side could put him in danger. The book ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting the next one.
He was a ruthless killer who’d killed so many people he had forgotten their faces.A vampire story with incredible world building. Loved this and the author is very talented!
