Konten tentang sejarah samsungnya sangat lengkap dan terperinci, namun alurnya kurang bisa dipahami sehingga saya merasa agak bosan di bagian tengah

A book describing the growth and the existence of an internationally well known company, Samsung, since it was established by a visionary businessman, Hoam Lee Byung Chul. The book depicts crucial periods of company development, especially when it transformed into a modern company combaning some systematic management methods at the time. Some methods are purely designed through internal innovation, while others are adopted through open minded leadership and intensive interaction, especially with global market environment. As the company moved to 21st century, it can achieve many proud results in technology and management advancement that have been imagined previously by its President, Lee Kun Hee since he took charge in late 1980s.

Readers might realize the tone of the book emphasizing Samsung is not only an ordinary company. It is a symbol of Korean spirit and ethic. Samsung was built through a philosophy that a company could construct what was called a 'good society'. Samsung Men, all company employees with strong will to build global ethic, are not only dreamed but carefully designed. Values of the company that care about recent social condition are shared. Samsung invested much money donated to charities and other social programmes. Those are done in line with quantitave growth of financial portofolio of the company.

It is rare that a company can contribute to national walfare so deeply as much as Samsung. When most countries spent a lot of money to cover up national companies's debt during financial crisis in 1997, Samsung were among few companies that stood up by itself and helped its country to pass the crisis through smart business strategies and actions. With strong foundation in its basic management and strong visionary leadership, it is not a wishful thinking for Samsung personnel and its fanatic global product users to support the company as a world leader in technology development.

Sebenarnya buku ini bagus dari sisi substansinya. Kita dapat mengetahui bagaimana sejarah perjalanan Samsung dari yang mulanya merupakan perusahaan sembako di Korea hingga akhirnya menjadi salah satu perusahaan teknologi yang terdepan tidak hanya di Korea, tapi juga seluruh dunia. Dijabarkan pula bagaimana manajemen di dalam Samsung diterapkan. Sayangnya bahasa yang digunakan di dalam buku ini lumayan susah dipahami. Terlihat sekali translasi yang digunakan sangat kaku. Lama-lama capek juga mencerna kalimat-kalimat yang ditulis di buku ini. Bagi Anda yang tertarik membaca buku ini sebaiknya hindari buku versi terjemahan bahasa Indonesianya.

saya membaca buku ini bersama ayah yang saya panggil abi, komentarnya hanya buku ini punya tata bahasa terjemahan yang membuatnya pusing. maklum, dulu dia pernah menjadi editor beberapa buku.
tapi banyak pelajaran bisa kita ambil, bahwa sebuah perusahaan mendunia punya karakter yang kuat. sukses tidak didapat dengan cepat dan lancar. banyak eksplorasi yg harus dan perlu dilakukan, penuh kesabaran, kerja keras dan keyakinan bahwa hal hal baik yang kita tanam kelak akan kita tuai, sendiri.
