Takeru and Sherdog have once again found themselves in the midst of a mystery! This time, the prime suspect is the beautiful Mayor Takasugi, and with her iron-clad alibi, it looks like she has brains to match her looks. How will they solve the case to reveal the murderous devil that lies behind the angelic face of London's mayor?
My girlfriend recently received this manga in a mystery box and although I hadn't read parts 1-4, I thought what the hell, I'll give it a try.
I must say, I have no regrets on giving this manga a go. The story was relatively self-contained and everything I needed to know was self-explanatory. The book as a whole was entertaining and the artwork was suited the genre.
My only real question, is why this story was made as a manga. The visuals really didnt add anything to the telling of the tale, as the story itself was all based on dialogue.
At the end of the day, this manga is a story of Sherlock Holmes reincarnated into the body of a cute little doggie. Whats not to love <3
Etsiväkoira Sherdock päättää viidennessä osassa edellisen osan tarinan ja jättää kutkuttavan cliffhangerin odottamaan ratkaisuaan seuraavassa osassa.
Tämä on tähän mennessä yksi parhaimmista osista tätä seitsemän osaista sarjaa. Jälleen on muutama nähtävästi pakollinen vaivaannuttava "pikkuhousut vilahtaa"-kohta, mutta muuten tarinat ovat vahvasti rikosten ratkaisua ja murhaajan pyristelemistä vapaaksi epäilyistä.
Tässäkin osassa on lukija otettu täysin huomioon ja periaatteessa kaikki ratkaisuun vaadittavat osat on kuvista ja teksteistä löydettävissä. Siksi näitä onkin ihan kiva lukea, vaikka näissä on myös pientä teinikohellusta.
Ihan mielenkiinnolla otan seuraavat jaksot lukulistalle, koska todellakin haluan tietää, miten tämä kaikki päättyy.
THE STORY SO FAR The puppy Sherdog-reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes and the ordinary high school student Takeru Wajima team up to solve tough cases! Takeru and company are visiting city hall to in- terview London's "too beautiful mayor" for the school newspaper. But right before their visit, the mayor was busy killing her former lover...
I do come across the strangest of books in our local charity shop and this series is one I started after finding the first two volumes.
The premise is simple. The spirit of the master detective, Sherlock Holmes has reincarnated into the body of a rescue dog. Convinced that his adoptive parent Takeru Wajima is in-fact the reincarnation of trusted sidekick Doctor John Watson, Sherlock opens up communication with the now very confused student.
Volume five concludes the mystery from volume 4 and starts a new mystery tale. There is also some bonus content, as usual.
Sherdog has had a tendency to 'witness' the crime or the perpetrator fleeing the scene rather than coming upon the mystery 'blind', so to speak. However the concluding story is a proper who-done-it and the pair will need to use all their deductive powers to bring the suspect to justice.
A nice touch was Sherdog reverting to being just a normal puppy again, hinting at a possible end to the series as a whole. There are only 2 volumes left and it will be interesting to see where things go. 4 1/2 stars.
Perfectly okay with plenty of cute moments. There are normally moments in these where I kind of hmmm... because no. Like, the fatphobia in this one was not great, even framed as coming from an evil person. So... a mixed bad, but I still like it? If that makes sense.
