I don't exactly know what worked for me.
Everything, I guess.
From the characters, the bitter sweet stories, the cities that I could almost smell, or the soundtrack, skipping in my head as I was reading.
Really, it reads amazingly and leaves you wanting to read more.
(My reaction was actually the following: "Oh! It's already over? But why?")
I dearly recommend the poetry of Miss Deroo, and will be on the lookout for her next works.

Loved all the stories, especially the 'Bonus Track'! Such an interesting way to set out a collection of stories.
