Airborne Hearts by Maggie Mozilla was such a pleasant surprise. I went in expecting something a little more typical, but it ended up being the perfect mix of romance and comedy. The banter, the chemistry, and the emotional moments all worked really well together.
I absolutely loved both main characters, especially Allie — she was hilarious and so relatable. The dynamic between her and Jake in the beginning had that fun “almost rivals” energy, where they’re just constantly testing each other’s patience, and I ate that up.
Usually, I hate the miscommunication trope, but in this book, it didn’t bother me. It actually made sense for the story and helped push their growth forward. It wasn’t one of those frustrating, scream-at-the-book kind of situations — it felt natural and purposeful.
The twist near the end caught me off guard in a good way. I won’t spoil it, but the whole “two-month” thing? I was both shocked and intrigued. It made sense for the story, but I do wish it had been a bit shorter. Still, the way everything wrapped up was sweet and heartwarming, even if I wanted a little more time with them as a couple afterward.
As for the side characters, they added some fun moments, but I had mixed feelings about Sarah, Allie’s best friend. She kept downplaying anything serious with Jake and sometimes made me want to shake her — like, girl, come on! But at the same time, whenever Allie really needed her during those twists and turns, Sarah showed up. She proved she was a true bestie, which makes it hard to fully dislike her. It’s like, you’re both helping and hurting, girl, pick a lane! Still, her presence made things more interesting, and their friendship felt real.
This book made me laugh, smile, and root for the characters the entire time. It had the perfect blend of heart, humor, and swoon-worthy moments that made it such an easy and enjoyable read.
Overall, Airborne Hearts is a charming, funny, and heartfelt rom-com that I’d recommend to anyone looking for a story full of warmth, banter, and love.
I went into this book expecting a light hearted comedy and then found myself sobbing on the couch at 2pm
This book was a rollercoaster and i struggled to put it down.. lines like This man is the Houdini of underwear.” Had me cracking up while how deeply Allie felt her feelings had me sobbing.
Compulsively readable. Not a big reader of romances so was pleasantly surprised by the twists, turns and humor that made this an all around good story. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
