The First Ethereal saved the world. This time, she must also find a way of saving herself.
As the Ethereal world prepares to celebrate a decade of peace, love, and healing, little do they know that their utopia is about to be shattered.
Haunted by her memories, the First struggles to come to terms with the choices she made during the battle for the ascension. Had there been another way?
As her friends prepare to party, the First puts on her ceremonial gown and readies herself to do her duty, smiling while her heart quietly breaks under the weight of her guilt and the burden of a destiny that is hers alone to bear.
When dark forces, bent on revenge, burst back into the world, the First finds herself on the frontline once again. Unable to run, hide, or fight for fear of further destabilising the new vibration, she must find another way of saving the world – the question is, will she save herself along with it?

E. L. Williams grew up in the Welsh Valleys in a tiny house overflowing with books and stories of magic.
Emma is the author of the Ethereal World fantasy series - a duology (The First Ethereal and The Blessing of Crows) and two standalone novels set in the same magical world hidden within our own: The Magic Keepers and The Butterfly Witch.
When she's not writing, she's usually reading, gardening, torturing her cello, or sneaking yet another houseplant into the home she shares with her endlessly patient husband.
2.5 stars I preferred the first book, I think I just wish we could see a bit more of the characters and it was not quite my pace but some interesting concepts for sure.
Loved this and the previous book in the series. Full of action and suspense but also warmth and love. There’s magic and fantasy but all rooted in a very recognisable small Welsh village and everyday characters. Just such a treat to read.
I really loved this sequel! Just as captivating as The First Ethereal. I'd already become emotionally connected to the characters and, sharing a lot of their values, was willing them to triumph.
E.L.Williams explores the concept of different 'worlds' or 'realms' in a fascinating but familiar way, and is highly descriptive in her writing style which brings the characters and scenes into full colour and clarity.
It kept me wanting to read the next chapter...and the next....It ended up being my binge-read book. Exciting plot, fast-moving as always and had me hooked until the very end.
It was a lovely bit of escapism and just what I needed.
The Blessing of Crows by EL Williams is a spellbinding sequel, weaving a captivating tale of a utopian world shattered by dark forces seeking revenge
As the First grapples with guilt and destiny, the story unfolds with breathless urgency, a race against evil that's impossible to put down.EL Williams prose is beautifully written, filled with twists and turns that kept me hooked until the very end.
In this deeply engaging story, Lily and her friends shine in their fight for peace and love, creating a gripping and uplifting experience. The underlying message of the negative impact of humanity on Earth adds depth to the plot, making it more than just a magical escape.
The seamless continuation of themes from The First Ethereal makes this sequel a page-turner that doesn't disappoint. Old friends return, and surprising twists and turns kept me engaged throughout.
For those seeking an escape into a new age of Ethereal, The Blessing of Crows delivers on its promise of an exciting, magical journey filled with challenges, surprises, and an overarching message that resonates beyond the pages of the book. Highly recommended for fans of the series and anyone looking for a thought-provoking and immersive experience.
Ever since I read the first book, The First Ethereal, I’ve been desperate for a sequel! Being able to dive into the new age of Ethereal, the challenges it faces and more surprising twists and turns, was an absolute treat. And the underlying message of the negative impact humanity is having on earth isn’t lost either.
