About the author

Rick founded Better Dads, a fathering skills program, based on the urgent need to empower men to lead and serve in their families and communities. Rick's books have expanded his work to include influencing the whole family, with life-changing insights for men and women on parenting, marriage, and personal growth. Inspiring and equipping through innovative multimedia presentations and seminars, Rick's resources, methods and personal approach have been transforming the lives of men, women, and their families for over 20 years.

Rick speaks at many large conferences across the US and Canada. He is a popular keynote speaker at men’s and women’s retreats and conferences on parenting and marriage.

He is a nationally recognized expert in several areas having been asked to deliver papers at venues such as the International Convention of Adult Children of Alcoholics, County of Los Angeles Child Abuse Prevention Conference and the State of New York Fatherhood Conference. Rick and his wife Suzanne have two adult children (one deceased) and is raising an adopted granddaughter having recently re-located to Texas.

This is a great book for men. It really makes you think about how you want to be when you finally decide to grow up. I am looking forward to reading more of Johnson's books.

There is some excellent stuff in this book. I didn't agree with 100% of what the author had to say and he incorporated a bit of fuzzy logic when he made an argument . I can forgive this as I believe his passion is authentic and he is on the right track. Mostly biblically sound. He does alienate non-Americans with statements about the greatest country in the history of the world. He is upfront about stating he knows some people will be angry about the things he says. The need for Christian men to rise up and be men is critical for our world (not just the good ol' USA). I would recommend this book for discussion groups for men.

This is an excellent read. Ladies, if you buy books for your man - GET this one! This is definitely a man's read, Rick is powerful in his message. Any man of any age, with or without children, healthy background or struggling - will find encouragement here.
Mister, if you are looking for hope, this is a book you will be glad you got.

Very helpful read on the importance of men to the world. Would like to have seen a further development of the Jesus as Son of God theme and perhaps some further doctrinal development of this spiritual Father/Son relationship. Overall a quick and very inspiring read for all men to stand up and take their rightful place in society. I'll be giving away copies of this book to others.
