This newly illustrated, highly collectible hardcover edition of Uncle John's Electrifying Bathroom Reader for Kids Only! is so awesome it'll make curious young readers’ hair stand on end. Illustrated and easy to read, this book is full of fascinating articles, fun games, forgotten history, silly science, myths and legends, jokes, weird sports, and more. And at the bottom of each page are Uncle John's famous “running feet” facts, like this one: Bald eagle nests can weigh up to two tons — more than a compact car. What else is in here? The mysterious goings-on in the Bermuda Triangle, how not to get struck by lightning, the history of the @ sign, real-life X-Men, royal slobs, and newspaper kids from a century ago who went on strike...and won!
I can't help it- I just love these books. Ant liked to read fact books, and he ate these up. They are funny and interesting and I'm always marking pages to send to other people. I don't remember all or even most of the information, but sometimes relevent topics come up in conversation and I have something interesting to add.
Did you know that the fear of long words is called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?
Many people think the earthquake capital of the U.S. is California, but it's actually Alaska. More quakes occur there per year than in the rest of the country combined.
The loudest insect is the African cicada- it's almost as loud as an airplane taking off.
This is the second time I'm reading this book. First time was when my older boy was younger, this time around with my youngest. While I was reading, I remembered most stories, but it was fun and interesting re-reading it all. It's fun for kids to read and to boot it's also educational. I think my favorite was The Great Molasses Flood story.
