René Goscinny (1926 - 1977) was a French author, editor and humorist, who is best known for the comic book Asterix , which he created with illustrator Albert Uderzo, and for his work on the comic series Lucky Luke with Morris (considered the series' golden age).

Lapsena pidin kovasti Asterix -sarjakuvista, mutta täytyy myöntää, että näin aikuisena tarinoiden loppuminen toistuvasti aina roomalaisten hutkimiseen ei jaksa innostaa. Vitsitkään eivät oikein kolahda samalla tavalla, sillä esimerkiksi korsikalaisten tulisen luonteen kuvauksen stereotyyppisyyteen tulee nyt kiinnitettyä enemmän huomiota kuin lapsukaisena. Kyllä joukkoon mahtui silti muutama ihan hauskakin sanailu. Piirroksista on myös hauska etsiä viittauksia taiteeseen ja muutenkin todellisuuteen. Erityisesti pidin viittauksesta Rembrandtin maalaukseen kokoelman ensimmäisessä tarinassa, Asterix ja ennustaja.

All three stories in this omnibus have a good smattering of gags, puns, and other humor. The plots of the first and third are also wild and twisty. But the plot of the second story (Asterix in Corsica) seemed to wander around without going anywhere for much of the story.

Funny and silly balanced perfectly. Very enjoyable.
