It was always "Father" never "Dad." The love and respect was manifest so was the distance - the distance not as evident. Christiana Lynn Barrington's life was a carefully constructed world built, presented and controlled by her billionaire father, Jonathan Robert Barrington. She never knew anything else. Frequently, she wondered if her father had wished to have had a son instead of a daughter but never posed the question. Maybe she was afraid of the answer. As the only child of Jonathan and Elizabeth Matthews Barrington, she was the heir apparent to the behemoth Barrington Holdings International. But a threat to her hard-earned succession waits in the shadows ready to take everything she's worked for away from her.
“Son of My Father” is about the multimillionaire Barrington family and had the feel of the TV show, “Dynasty.” Christiana Barrington is recently divorced. She has a young daughter and a very controlling father, Jonathan. She is the heir apparent to his company, and they work side by side. Their relationship is mostly one-sided or his way. Jonathan is protective of his family, but also ignores the questions his daughter asks. I liked the relationship between Christiana and her daughter, along with the co-parenting with her ex and his feelings for her. Christiana showed some strength with her business dealings and was trusting her gut when she needed to. I appreciated that side of her, but how she let her father run her life made me think if I were her, I’d toss the money and run. I got a bit confused with the many POVs, who was talking and when, but that didn’t take away from the story of this family. The ending was a surprise, even if I guessed part of it, I was very satisfied with the conclusion. If you love drama, reading about a powerful family, and some interesting twists, you will enjoy this book.

I have never seen you in that shade of red.” That’s what I intend to do—stop the show.
Son of my Father, follows the life of Christiana Barrington the daughter of a hugely successful business tycoon. Groomed for success her whole life, Christiana only knows life as a Barrington, and does whatever her father desires, even to the detriment of her own personal life. The story is well written and keeps the reader guessing. I did find the language rather formal sometimes, especially during direct speech. It didn't always ring true, and felt stilted and old fashioned. Still, it didn't take away from the story, and I would gladly read another book by this promising new author.
This was an excellent book to read in my opinion. It held my interest from beginning to end. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what was happening next. I thought it was well written and the characters were well developed. The story was realistic concerning a wealthy family and strong daughter and a strong, pushy father. The story revolves around these two characters. You will not be disappointed if you read this book.
