B.K. Walker is an Amazon Bestselling Author with a love to help authors that are challenged by writing, publishing, marketing and selling their books. She wrote and published her first book in 2009 while she was a single mother of 3, her youngest a newborn, going to Nursing School full time and working a full time job. Now 17 titles later, with 2 of her books landing on Amazon's best seller's list, she continues her writing career while helping others master their marketing and sell more books.
Night Secrets tells the story of Keira, who seems to have everything. She is living the high school life, good friends and the most important thing on her mind was the jeep she loved and her favorite band. But all that changed with the sudden and tragic death of her parents in an airplane crash.
Night Secrets shows how Keira is told of her parents death, her heartbreaking mourning, and then her subsequent recovery where she decides to face the world. But unknown to her, the world she is now preparing to face again, will change very soon. On Keira’s first night out, she attends a local club, where she sees the extremely beautiful boy who is new in her class. She noticed him the same day she was told about her parents. Seeing him again, Keira was instantly drawn to him. That same night Keira learns of another club….Night Secrets which she makes plan to check out because her favorite band, Shot In The Dark… will play its opening.
Keira attends the opening and there she sees the mysterious boy AGAIN, who she finds out is Channing; and she also meets Corbin the equally mysterious Night Secrets owner. That same night after saying good-bye to her favorite band and her favorite member, Buddha, Keira hurriedly leaves Night Secrets, feeling as if someone is watching her. Several times, she saw the intriguing owner stare at her, behind his dark shades, which he and the other employees in Night Secrets wore. Nervous, Keira leaves and as she drives home, something big crosses the road, it at first appears as a big dog, but might be a wolf????
Keira has an accident, and to her rescue is the owner of Night Secrets….
Night Secrets drew me in from the very beginning. It is one of those books, that you DO NOT have to prepare “to see” if you will enjoy, or that you say to yourself…”let me push through a little more to see if I like” ….no, this book grabbed me from the beginning and it flowed so well, I hated anything to interrupt:)
Night Secrets had INCREDIBLE description, Ms. Walker causes each scene to come alive so well, that I practically felt as if I was in the night club and that I personally was the one being drawn to Channing the beautiful boy, or feeling nervous by the intent stare of the owner, Corbin.
Night Secrets was also very well written, so that the story flowed and kept me involved, I truly enjoyed this story and look forward to the next, I hope to find more about Keira, Channing, Corbin and Buddha! Buddha is the favorite band member from Shot In The Dark, he was a character I sensed had more going on with him as well. There are several twist and surprises and readers will not be disappointed.
Fantastic way to start a book! I mean having Keara's parents die is horrible, but in doing that it gives this book a great platform to take off from.
After Keara's parents death, her weird aunt Aingeal moves in with her from Ireland and life as she knows it comes to a complete halt. And I mean complete and utter halt. Home school, in-her-room hermit with no outside contact for 2 months! That is until her gay best friend Jared (I love that he's gay) comes swoopin' in to bust her out of her rut by going to a concert that involves her favorite band EVER. While out that night Keara gets an uneasy feeling that someone is watching her....that's when she spots Channing. Blond hair, piercing eyes that make her melt on the inside, you know the whole teenage heart throb thing. She's not sure what it is about him that makes her senses go wild, but she likes it! After running into Channing again at Night Secrets, a new club in town, she knows she's got the hots for him. She also notices that she's catching the eye of the mysterious club owner, Corbin. After coming to Keara's rescue she feels as though Corbin would do anything to make sure she's safe....that is until he's suddenly attacking her in the parking lot of his club. Or is he? Now with secrets revealing themselves at every turn Keara must trust those around her to keep her safe, but more importantly she must learn trust what is locked inside herself and believe she can tap into before it's too late.
Ok....coming down from this read I was initially SUPER excited about it. I enjoyed the twist that was given on the paranormal side of things, but I wanted to book to be longer. The plot was good, laid out well, I just know it could have used a couple more chapters. Oh and assuming that this novel is YA simply because the main characters are in high school is an epic fail on my part, because man there was a scene, or two, that had me blushing! One thing that I really liked was, if a decision was made that would contradict what a previous character stated, the author was able to pull the plot & side plots together to make it all run together extremely well. This is hard to do, and I've found myself lately asking authors, "Why are you letting that happen, it doesn't make sense!", needless to say the book doesn't give me answers & it's frustrating as hell! All in all, this was a really good read. I'm looking forward to where BK takes Keara on her journey, and hoping the next book is a tad bit longer.
Keara had the ideal carefree life with loving parents and a butler who was with her when her parents were gone. She had a jeep she was in love with and friends at school who adored her. She went to school like she did every day, but noticed one thing different, there was a red corvette sitting where she normally parked and couldn't figure out who could do such a thing??? While she was going about her school business, she was told to report to the office where she was met with officers. She thought at first she had done something wrong, in which would be a lot better than what she was about to hear. She was told that her parents had been killed in a plane accident. Her world fell apart.
After a long period of mourning, Keara decided to pick herself up, get dressed and go listen to one of her favorite musical groups. Little did she know that decision would set a stream of events into motion that would change her life forever. Especially when Channing, the guy who drove the red corvette and Corbin stepped into her life. And that would help release the secret she had within herself that she never knew about. Reality as she knew it, would forever and things that were impossible to exist, would soon become possible. Keara would soon find that Channing and Corbin would be an important factor in her life and her survival. Channing a boy she was falling in love with and Corbin the owner of Night Secrets a new club in town. But the most shocking thing she had to grasp was, Channing and Corbin were not "what" they seemed they were, but she also had to grasp, neither was she.
I found BK Walker once again writing a nail biting page turner. I thoroughly enjoyed how she made the 'creatures' in this book have to work together if they are to save Keara's life. By the time I was at the end, I was so disappointed to find I have to wait for the next chapter to be written to find out what happens to Keara and Channing. I totally recommend this book for all paranormal readers and even if you are not into the paranormal, give it a try, you just might find you will totally enjoy walking into the 'dark side.
I give Night Secrets by BK Walker five stars. *****
The world of the Paranormal was just a fairy tale to Keara. After the death of her parents, she decides its time to move on, and get on with life. Hence she meets, Channing with his alluring blue eyes, hot, sweet and a treat indeed. Corbin - Club owner of the newest club in town, his twin and the singer. Keara is thrown into the world of the paranormal making discoveries she never deemed possible. She herself is not of this world, unique and a strength she has yet to gather. Her protectors are never far away, trying to keep her out of harms way. A jealous stalker - a killer who is after her and her blood - her life. An encentric aunt, with the power to see the future, a loving and caring butler, a hot dog, and a sexy nightwalker.. and a best friend any girl would love. Keara's life will never be the same.
Can all her newfound protectors ,keep her safe from the evil that dwells within ? Will Keara live to manifest her powers and the true strength that lies within !!
My thoughts.
BK has certainly created a world of her own in Night Secerts. New aspects added to the word shapeshifters, unique of its own and paranormal elements within the read. Im sure that you will find intriuging. We delve into the begninning of the book, to be pushed along with suspense and mystery and certainly grabbing our attention from page one. Its always great to read a book thats different, not the normal type currenlty shelved.
I read this in one sitting. Gliding along the way, all chapters smoothly flowing and my interest piqued throughout. Characters Im sure you will enjoy, hotties that you will swoon after and a blue eyed babe Im sure that will certainly have your attention till the end. !! *He is certainly one hot dog ** lol.. A nightwalker with the manerisms of the old era, and a baddy that will send chills down your spine. And a hotty who sings and rocks not only this world but another.
Overall, an intriguing read, filled with the world of the paranormal, elements of surprise, and an intersting plot Im sure the reader will enjoy. Relatively fast paced, depends on how fast you read (( lol )) and aspects that Im sure you will certainly enjoy in a read filled with shapershifters, witches,fairies- vampires and more !! An array of twists and turns throughout !

Oh, the cliff hangers! Why?! Why, B.K. Walker?! Why must you do this to me?! You give me a short 155 pages to get to know your characters and the world they live in, and then you take them all away from me! What would possess you to do such a thing? Where's your humanity? Your sense of compassion for the poor readers that so easily become attached to characters that don't really exist? Have you no heart?
I obviously enjoyed this book, but I have to say, I didn't feel very satisfied with the ending. It just felt like an enormous stamp of "TO BE CONTINUED" was all that was missing to cement this fact. Yeah, I get that there's supposed to be another book (I hope), but there was absolutely no closure! You just shipped your characters off on a plane to a foreign land where I couldn't follow them. Literally.
While this may not have been the most original book (even though now it's almost impossible to be), I still did enjoy it quite a bit. I thought that the characters were wonderful, especially Aunt Aingeal and Jared. And Buddha. No, not that Buddha, but he's still pretty awesome. And Irish.
Probably my favorite piece of the novel was the mixing of different mythologies and stories together. The same paranormal creatures over and over can get a little monotonous at times, so I really enjoyed the addition of a few lesser known characters.
The only complaint that I have with this book is that everything just seemed too rushed. Too many events were crammed into too few pages, and there was never any time for the reader to just relax and contemplate what had happened along with the characters. All of the relationships between them seemed too hurried and forced, like they were already lined up before they even met. I personally think that it takes some of the fun out of discovering things out for yourself if everything is just shoved at you so quickly.
Once you get past that, though, and slow yourself down so that you can really get into the book, it really is very entertaining.
For a first book in a series I thought this was great. The story of Keira is very interesting. How BK brought in Morgan La Fae was great. I love that myth and it kept my attention.Loved, loved, loved Channing and his blue eyes! So well written I could picture his eyes staring back at me from the pages of the book. Hot, hot, hot!!!
Slow at the beginning but worth the wait to get into it the meat of the story.
Disliked:
I thought some of the themes in the book were a little adult for a 17 year old. But this is coming from a mother of a 17 year old so my opinion might by slightly bias. But I had a hard time believing that anyone would sit and listen to Corbin’s story about how he was turned and his intimate connection with his twin.
Also sometimes I felt like I was being spoon fed some of the scenes and it discombobulated me and I felt like the voice changed when it really didn’t. I had to go back several times to make sure.
Overall:
Overall I really like this book, it was hard to get into but once I did I was caught and kept looking at the pages thinking how in the world BK was going to fit everything into this story. The story line and history of the characters was fascinating. I would have really liked to know more history on Buddha (maybe in coming books?). I look forward to the series and will be reading the next books.
??Recommend??
I would recommend this book. However, it is NOT really for the YA crowd even though the characters are teens. If you are a YA fan looking for a little something more in the bedroom then this book is for you.
First of all, this book contains a few explicit sex scenes. Careful with the kids!
MIXED EMOTIONS PEOPLE! Most of them good, but here is my review :)
As you can see I liked it but didn't love it. It is a very good book but can't place it next to stories I truly love, not because it doesn't have potential, on the contrary it is a great story. I just felt it too short and for that, I sensed some lack of depth both in characters and story build up. It's like everything happened so fast.
But at the same time this was good because I couldn't put this book down! I read it in a few hours!
It's very original and fast paced. I loved the fact that the author included twins, yay! It's my favorite way of making a combination of good and evil. The characters seem interesting, they are diverse which I like a lot.
The author brought up a wonderful and legendary figure such as "Morgan Le Fay" and blended it smoothly into the plot. That fact I LOVED!
Corbin is interesting, he is a bit eccentric but also charming. Jared was for sure my favorite character. I loved his sense of humour and the way he cherishes his friendship with Keara. I'm looking forward to reading more of these two.
Two things BK: The aunt always speaking in that weird way! OMG! I wanted to punch her in the face -.- and Keara needs to improve her sense in fashion ASAP! lol
Anyway, It is the beginning of a series (or so I hope because the end is a major cliffhanger!) so I am definitely placing my votes on B.K Walker.
This book was excellent, Keara is a fantastically written character who loses her parents in a plane accident and her witchy aunt Aingeal moves in from Ireland, to be her tutor. After mourning them, she decides to go out with her best friend Jared to see her favourite music band at a bar named Club Indigo, there she feels like she's being observed and notices an incredibily hot guy looking at her. But is interrupted by the solo of her favourite drummer Buddha (cool name right?) who invites her to a gig in a new bar in town named Night Secrets, where she once more sees the incredibly hot guy and learns his name: Channing. But not only that she also meets the owner of night secrets Corbin, although there's something strange about him as he's always wearing glasses. And she feels atracttion to both of them even if there a bit strange, but after being attacked in the parking lot by Corbin or at least someone who lookes exactly like him she begins to find out things about herself, things she never imagined not in her wildest dreams. This book was really well written and the characters are interesting and always ready for action. I loved Keara, especially her name and her relation with Ireland and it's legends ;) Although sometimes I had a bit of trouble understanding the writing when Aunt Aingeal spoke as it was with an irish accent. I can't wait to read the next book!!
Night Secrets is a quick read - around 90 pages. Keira's parents die in a plane crash in the prologue. After she decides to get on with her life (after mourning for a couple months) - she contacts her best friend, Jared. He takes her out several times and introduces her to a new place called night Secrets. Keira's favorite band plays there and it quickly becomes one of her favorite places to be. The owner, Corbin has a twin brother, Dante. Keira also meets Channing - a guy who was new to her school just as she found out her parent's had perished in a plane crash. Keira soon learns a great deal about herself and her friends. Who/what are they all - REALLY! What does the future hold for her? Keira's aunt tries to provide some guidance but Keira also wants to have a "life".
The story really doesn't end - it leaves you hanging for the next installment. What does Keira learn (more) - about herself? What happens next with Corbin? Channing? Dante? So many questions. What I have read was a great story and definitely kept me interested - I just wish the story had more of an ending. It reminds me of the "Who Shot J.R." ending. I will still give it 5 stars though because it was a good story and well written.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really like B.K.'s writing style. I think I have read almost all of her books and I am always waiting for more. Once again she did not disappoint. When I started reading Night Secrets I didn't want to put it down. I felt like I was actually at club, seeing the band live, and watching all of the action around me. My favorite character is Buddha and I am so glad he will be a part of Keara's new world and I really love her aunt. There is continuous action that will keep you reading and keep you guessing. I was really sad the way it ended. Such a cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book cause I am curious to know what is going to happen. Will Keara stay with the very intriguing Channing or will she go with the mysterious Corbin. And what will happen with Corbin's brother? So many questions. I recommend this book to everyone that is 18 or older and if you are under 18 than you should definitely check out her other books.
Keara Crosby's life changes when her parents are killed in an airplane crash. Her weird aunt comes to live with her and she constantly has the feeling that someone is following her. When she starts to fall for a mysterious guy and is attacked in the parking lot, she finds out that monsters do exist. Keara and Channing are great together and their chemistry heats up the pages. The peripheral characters round out the story nicely. My favorite were the best friend, Jared and Buddha, the drummer. He sounds gorgeous! I also loved her use of twin vampires for good vs. evil.
Night Secrets is well written and engaging. It was a very quick read and I was able to finish it in an afternoon. The world that Ms. Walker has created is intriguing and I want to know more about it. My only complaint about the book is that I wanted more. It was too short for me and ends in a cliffhanger. I look forward to the next one and to learning more about the Night Secrets world.
This was a very short read that had you hooked from the very first page past the last word! The only problem is that I wanted more at the end. This book would be a great candidate for becoming a series. I’ve been cautious of reading paranormal books but the way this book was set up made it a lot more tempting to read. The characters were introduced as humans and the reader has no idea who is supernatural and who isn’t. This book was the step I needed to get interested in more paranormal books. This book is the perfect reason why I did not want to restrict my reading and blog to certain genres because given a good story line, any genre can produce a great book!

i was gifted this book for an honest review . i really hope this series is continued by this author as i so want to know how kiera's life continues after the events of this books .to be caught between the vampire twins corbin and dante is a difficult fate for kiera but with the help of channing she makes a likeable character and channing is hot .
