The Spear

Rate this book
A gripping tale of madness and redemption in a centuries old battle between good and evil. The fighting between The Order and The Hand has been taking place for centuries all over the world. But the present day battle takes a new turn when a Romanian hit team descends on the monastery in the night and slaughters the members of the Order as they sleep, breaking the ancient agreement to fight with edged weapon only. Stewart Byrne returns to the monastery to find almost all of his brothers slain, except Wesley Sanns the traitor among them who led the hit team in the door. Stewart buries the bodies and sets off on a trail of the team of madmen to Bucharest Romania to avenge his fallen brethren and recover The Spear of Destiny missing from the vault. Twisting through the story is the tale of Horace Whittaker, a dirty cop fired and bent on revenge on the Romanian hit team for killing the love of his life. He and Stewart enter a world of crime and lunacy but will they be in time to stop a coup de tat from overthrowing the new democracy? The Spear is a tale of redemption and new beginning in cataclysmic tragedy and reminds us all that there are things worth dying for and living with.

This was an enjoyable read. There were many characters who were woven together into a cohesive plot in the end. Lots of action, some gore, and some romance. I enjoyed the imagery and knowledge of some of the locations of action. Unfortunately, the publisher didn’t edit well for formatting and typos. Nevertheless, I liked the book!
