Ultramar. Odas, de Elsa Cross, detiene la mirada poetica en tres objetos que pueden ser considerados la esencia de la creacion (es decir, la esencia divina): "Las piedras," "Las olas," "Las cigarras." En este libro, la autora hace gala de su oficio como escritora para brindarnos un poemario que logra el equilibrio: la conciencia, el tiempo, el sueno, la muerte, se presentan para conformar al ser que se encuentra en el centro y que no es otro que el poeta; el libro, dividido en tres partes que a su vez se conforman de nueve poemas cada una, no hace sino mostrar la importancia que lo simbolico tiene para la poesia de la autora.

66 books13 followersElsa Cross (born March 6, 1946 in Mexico City), is a contemporary Spanish-language Mexican writer perhaps best known for her poetry. She has also published translations, philosophical essays and is known as an authority on Indian philosophy.
She has a doctorate in Philosophy and Letters from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and is currently a professor in that Faculty.
In 1990, she was awarded the Premio Nacional de Poesía Aguascalientes for her book of poems El diván de Antar. She is also the recipient of the Premio Nacional de Poesía Jaime Sabines (in 1992).
According to Octavio Paz, Elsa Cross is one of the most personal voices in recent Latin-American poetry. Her work, already considerable, includes some of the most perfect poems of the last generation of Mexican writers. I say voice and not poetic writing since poetry, although written, must always be spoken. Two opposing notes reconcile harmoniously in Elsa Cross: the complexity of her thought and the clarity of her diction.

Tiene algo de rescatable, pero como las ruinas arqueológcias, ninguna de ella es útil. No carece del todo de ritmo, pero la cuestión vive empobrecida en ambiente estético de la imagen por la imagen y si demasiada gracia.
Próximo al bostezo. Algo se rescata... y aunque a mí los griegos siempre me han hecho gracia, de griego solo tiene esa literatura de ventana, de turismo, oficial.
En fin, que no hay nada demasiado interesante aquí.

A mi me gustó muchísimo, maneja todo en términos de contrastes y termina con frases intensas y precisas en la dirección en la que intencionalmente van a clavarse.
