Two things Leonard Nimoy cannot do: sing and write poetry. I stumbled upon this at my bookstore—it was all locked up in a bookcase looking tempting and lovely. So I bought it, purely for novelty value, completely expecting it to be terrible. I was not disappointed—Nimoy's poetry is awful. I felt I was re-reading the same verse for 90 odd pages. The photography in the book is done by Nimoy...they're not very good and relatively unrelated to the poetry, but whatever. Having said that, I am glad I own it. I do not recommend anyone read it, however.
A gift from Laurene Laird in 1974. Poetry by Leonard Nimoy, photographs by Leonard Nimoy. I am just not fond of poetry and so few pieces speak to me. Aside from what poems say to the person reading, the person reading tries to figure out who or what the poet is talking about. I am sure these poems were for Leonard's first wife but knowing of the divorce my imagination says they would work just as well for his mother. Hindsight and knowledge of the poet's life seems to transmute his poetry.
I stumbled across this gem in my local "Little Free Library." I never knew this book existed, but I'm glad I crossed paths with it. It was heartfelt and beautiful. I loved the addition of photography next to the poems. It just added so much depth. I felt my mind wonder to memories of my love while reading this book. The poems are simple, yet elegant. My only critique is that it was short. It's an easy 30 minute read (I even took my time.) Overall it was very memorable and enjoyable. Just wish it was longer.
This is a quick read, and though I read some less positive reviews, I enjoyed this. If you’re coming at this with huge expectations, you might not like it as much, but I approached it as I do all poetry: I take it for what it is. In this case, a simple, yet lovely set of poems to answer the question, Will I Think of You? The answer, is yes. 😌
One moderately long poem in several parts. Rather bad. There's a line here or there that sounds nice, or a few lines together that seem to have some rhythm, but overall I don't like it.
This is a short and fun collection of poems by Leonard Nimoy. I bought it being a fan of his acting and photography career. This book is a very quick read and leaves you feeling good.
I read this from my mom's collection when I was in middle school. Hahaha...at the time it made me want to be a photographer. I've read again it since then. As someone else said, the poem is of novelty value, but it is of a universal theme, and I still quite like photos (of course, he's gone on to do quite a bit of photography).
D'aaaww.. Not the most sophisticated or elegant delivery, but seems sweet and heart-felt. And made me sad, cuz no one's ever going to write this kind of stuff for me.
People should do this kind of thing more (and mean it!) perhaps not for wide publication, but for the intended person.
