Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.

Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that his heart.

Sex in the Sticks delivers the usual Sawyer Bennett flare on romance with it's sweet and sexy characters. Val and Logan were two completely different people, one a New Yorker used to a life of luxury and the other a small Alaskan town officer that likes living life as simple as possible. But together they were this explosion of hot as hell chemistry that none of their differences could take away.

Logan was a complete swoon worthy Hero that has me wanting to travel to Alaska so I can find my own mountain man. He was just genuinely a nice guy and honestly that's not something that you can easily find in books so it was a nice change of pace. And then of course he was sexy as hell once his and Lauren's relationship moved to the bedroom. (P.S be prepared to need a fan to cool off after you meet him.)

Overall, this was a cute read that I really enjoyed spending that day with. Val was a good heroine and was in no way stuck up like you may think she would be, and Logan was just plain amazing. I can't wait to get more of this town and to meet more of these characters.

descriptionThis is one of those bizarre covers that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the book. The model on the cover looks NOTHING like I pictured the hero.description

descriptionI guess I am in the minority with this one. It was just OK for me. Oh, it was well written (if a little predictable) and very funny. I enjoyed the small town feel of it. There wasn't any OW/OM drama. Not much angst until near the end. It also had a great cast of secondary characters and some hot sex scenes.

description

My issue was mainly with the main characters. I liked Valentine's personality. She treated people kindly to their faces, but the whole "BLOG" angle didn't sit right with me. Everyone treated her with kindness, and the way she paints them on her blog wasn't very nice. Not to mention sharing private details about her and Logan. Which I thought was particularly disgusting. AND I found it HIGHLY improbable that a supposed big name blogger like her would put down the name of the town, and specifically Logan's occupation (especially since he was the ONLY chief) for everyone on the internet to read.

And while I understood Logan's initial reaction to finding out she was sharing details and writing about the town his continued asshole behavior after she apologized soured me on him. To be honest, by the end I felt HE needed to be the one groveling to get HER back.

Like I said though I seem to be in the minority with this one. Maybe I am just in a bad mood or something..who knows. *lol* I'll be keeping my eye out for the next book because like I said except for the main characters I found the writing very good.description

Ok, All those who think having it all financially makes life perfect - raise your hand...
And if you think Metro-Sexual Men are the way to go because they are so well put together - Raise your hand...
Well, Sawyer Bennett is here to blow those ideas out of the water...

She has created a new series where the Prize Catch is not someone more interested in the Dow Jones than you.... No, she has come up with a man who knows who he is... is happy with his surroundings and comfortable in his own skin... which he washes with a bar of soap...not body wash.

Yes, this man is living in Alaska, not New York City and is there for the long haul.

Valentine French could be classified as one of those "poor little rich girls". She hasn't a material need or want. She is able to live quite happily by spending time with her favorite cousin. He is the only one who understands how awful her childhood was...No she did not experience physical abuse of any kind...but the mental abuse of being ignored by parents takes a toll on a little girl...and the desire to have her family love not abandon her...can be painful, too.

Valentine has grown up into a lovely, sexy woman. She is smart, educated and use to the finer things in life. It is her sass which brought her blog a following and is notorious for the content she has written. Nothing is sacred. She has covered all sorts of topics and lately she has shared the boring, awful dates she has been experiencing.

It is this topic of conversation which stimulates her cousin to suggestion she go to Alaska for a change of pace and type of Man. He has just the place for her to go and makes all of the arrangements.

It is this perfect "fish out of water" scenario where we see Valentine all dolled up in a perfect traveling outfit from Bergdorf's arguing with the Ferryboat Captain about her need for transportation to her Bed and Breakfast Lodging.

Logan Burke sees his friend trying to get through to this woman that there is No Taxi, No Town Car or any other way for her to get to where she wants to go. Because Logan is one of the good guys and also the town's Sheriff, he steps in and helps out his friend. He introduces himself to Valentine, takes all 4 large suitcases and throws them into the back of his truck. Valentine is stunned but realizes she has no choice but to go with him. Holding her little dog tightly to her ample chest, she sits in the truck and tells him of her destination, the Bed and Breakfast....

Logan looks at her, smiles and informs her it is the Boarding House. She is going to Kill her Cousin.

The two of them chat a bit and it is revealed Valentine is here to date and enjoy the men of Alaska. She doesn't tell him she is writing a blog about her experiences.

These two keep running into each other and every time it is a hoot. Too good to share and spoil the read. Naturally, they do connect in the way Sawyer Brown knows how to do so well. YUM!

There are a few angsty moments... distrust and jumping to conclusions...and also the sin of omission...But all in all... this was a sure thing... and winner in my book with the anticipation of more.

Happy Book Birthday

Deliciously fun, sweet and sexy! I was completely addicted to these characters and their story. I practically read this book in one sitting and when I finished I wanted to read it all over again.

Dating columnist Valentine French is bored with all the predictable NYC men who can’t get their noses out of their phones and only talk about themselves. She’s having a difficult time coming up with good material for her blog. Following her cousin’s advice she heads to Alaska, a place where men are rough by necessity and they surpass women fifteen to one. Upon arriving to the small town of East Merritt Val realizes several things. One, her dog Sassy could be eaten by bears and she’s thoroughly unprepared for the Alaskan wilderness. Two, loggers and lumberjacks truly do abound and are eager to have a shot at her. Three, the chief of police and mayor is drop dead gorgeous and doesn’t seem to be interested in her.

From the first moment Logan Burke laid eyes on Valentine he knows there’s more to the “vacation” excuse the beautiful and out of place female is offering upon arriving to his little town. She seems set on dating as many men as possible and he’s just not a one and done kind of man, especially not with a woman like her. Can he convince her to give him and only him a chance? When the truth of her visit is revealed will he still want more?

Sawyer Bennett keeps getting better and better. Sex in the Sticks is a perfect balance between fun and heartwarming, sensual, sweet and romantic.

When we first meet Valentine she seems a bit snobby, but as we get to know her you can’t help but want to be her friend. She’s completely laid back and didn’t hesitate to find ways to help the townsfolk and fit in. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hang out with a pretty New Yorker at the Moose Poop Drop?

Logan is equally likeable. He’s helpful, easygoing, and doesn’t hesitate to rescue a damsel in distress. He’s so charismatic and easy to fall for. He rescues Val’s dog from imaginary bears, actually rescues her from freezing to death in the woods, he takes her shopping for adequate clothes and after falling into an easy friendship, he asks her to date exclusively. He’s an adorable and sweet alpha male.

I really enjoyed all their interactions, I loved their chemistry and connection. And you can’t read a Sawyer Bennett book without mentioning the delectable sexy times. Oh boy, I need to actually fan myself remembering Logan’s dirty talk.

Of course, these two come from very different worlds and neither are experts in long term relationships, so there are some bumps and bruises they have to overcome before they can find their happiness together.

I loved the small town Alaskan setting and its inhabitants, which gave the story an added layer. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Sex in the Sticks is the kickoff book in the Love Hurts series by Sawyer Bennett. It is a standalone, full-length, contemporary romance full of fun banter and super sexy bits that will leave you highly satisfied. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending.

What happens when a ‘dating sex columnist socialite’ from New York escapes the hustle and bustle of the city to try her dating luck in Alaska? It leads to a fun, sexy time that’s what!

Valentine (Val) French is tired of the dating scene in New York. She seems to be dating the same man over and over again; self-involved metrosexuals who care more about their own appearance and their stock portfolios than anything else. Val maintains her need for a change has nothing to do with finding love, she doesn’t do love! She just needs a change and she needs a real man; one who has a real tan from the great outdoors, not a fake and orange tan from a bottle.

metrosexual
mɛtrəˈsɛkʃʊəl/

noun informal
noun: metrosexual; plural noun: metrosexuals
1. a heterosexual urban man who enjoys shopping, fashion, and similar interests traditionally associated with women or homosexual men.

Being a dating blogger makes it easy for Val to come to the decision that not only a change of scenery, but a change of location might be the answer. She’s independently wealthy and has the luxury of being able to write her blog from anywhere. So you may pose the question, why Alaska? Well the Alaskan population is fifteen times more male than female, so Val should have the pick of the bunch.

Val is most definitely unprepared for life in the Alaskan Wilderness and experiences a major culture shock. This is where she meets Logan, the town chief. Logan moved to Alaska seven years ago from Seattle and has never regretted his decision once. It was the best decision of his life. He thrives in the great outdoors and loves nothing more than serving the locals of East Merritt, Alaska.

Logan made me absolutely swoon; I mean who says chivalry is dead? Just as an example, when Val is clearly not dressed appropriately for the Alaskan weather, he gives Val his jacket to wear home as he knows she will be cold, and at this stage he barely even knows her. He is so sweet and lovable with an absolute heart of gold and even though Logan was the complete opposite to Val in every way, they really complimented each other and brought out the best in each other; flaws and all.

One of the things I loved most about this story is Val’s character development. When I first started reading, I thought there is no way I am going to like this heroine. My only advice though is to hold off judgement, because I’ll be honest, I did judge Val initially and it was a pleasure to be proven wrong.

Anyone who wants a fun and sexy read about opposites attracting in the best possible scenery ever, this is the book to read..

Sawyer Bennett
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love Sawyer Bennet ever since! And I love the next book as I'll love all of the others. Valentine and Logan's story is a bit dreamy, I'm still in cloud 9. *sigh

A blogger for seven years and counting, stinking rich New Yorker Valentine is bored, not with shopping mind you, with men.
New York men are predictable, self-absorbed and only cares about the the hair pruducts they use, so as Valentine thought. She just wanted a man who would want to care for her, hire an army just to fight for her, maybe gets his undivided attention for at least over dinner and not some schmuck who checks the stock market for every second. Thus the great scheme, go to East Merritt, Alaska and ask men to date and maybe she can find the 'guy'.

As if on cue Logan materializes and he's just pure delight. Personally I want my own Logan. He's the chief of police in East Merritt and just as anybodys guess they are baffled why would a New Yorker wants to go on a hike to Alaska.
Turns out they were fantastic with each other, Val doesn't realize it early on but Logan has hots for her.

Valentine soon realizes that Alaska has a lot to offer, beautiful nature, nice men actually very nice, hard working men, and what's more better is a hot chief/mayor that's been hangging around. They give their relationship a go, and they'd put an expiration date to it knowing that eventually Valentine will go back to New York.

But when shit hits the fan, Logan found out the blog she'd been writting and everything goes to shreds. Find out how they fall in love and mend their broken hearts.

Honestly I won't give you anymore crumbs cause this is just so good to read, you'll thank me later.

TOTAL HEA.
NO CHEATING OF ANY SORTS
ABSO-fucking-LUTELY HOT AND STEAMY SEX
and oh yeah HOT COP ALSO PRESENT

I loved this book so much that I don't know what to say....

Have you ever felt that way about a book? The books that I love are the hardest to review--I just don't know where to start. I think this is one of Sawyer Bennett's best--I've loved every book that I've read from SB, but somehow, this book has stayed with me and once I finished I just had to read it again!

I was a little bit worried after reading the first few paragraphs. The heroine, beautiful redheaded, 31-year-old New York heiress Valentine French sort of came off as a Carrie Bradshaw type--blogging about the NY dating scene.. She and her best friend (cousin Jeremy) come off as a little shallow as they discuss his upcoming wedding and her disappointment with her NY dating life. 'Valley' is getting tired of dating metrosexuals who only want to talk about themselves or can't be away from their cell phones. Are there any more 'manly' men out there?

Valentine...
 photo f3ccfe6c-0a24-4dee-a82f-669efc85d5c9_zpspdv3t8c3.jpg

Jeremy has a great idea--why doesn't Valley get away from NY, and head out west where the men are manly and greatly outnumber the women? He books a trip for her to a somewhat remote Alaskan town (just north of Ketchikan) where he once went for a fishing excursion. Val can write about her little experiment, comparing Alaskan men to what she is used to in NY--will there be a difference?

Val arrives in town and everyone (especially the men) notices her. She's beautiful, curvy, sophisticated, and unlike anyone the little town of East Merritt has ever seen. She catches the eye of quite a few men, including the town's Chief of Police, 37 year old Logan Burke (blue-eyed, dark-haired, dimpled, 6'6" of rugged manly man). But Logan plays it cool, and keeps his desire for Valentine (as he and only he calls her) to himself. He thinks Val is only in town to sample the local men (she sets up three dates right off the bat). He doesn't know that she has a blog and is writing about her experiences. But he can't stay away from her. They gradually get to know each other and he is attracted to her charm, humor, and beauty. And Val is certainly attracted to Logan. She thinks he's sweet, and hot, but doubts he feels the same about her. Until she gets lost in the woods, and Logan is her rescuer...and then watch the sparks fly!!

Logan...
 photo logan3_zpsecqer7vw.jpg

Yowza. What follows is simply delicious. You will absolutely fall in love with these characters, and even the supporting characters in East Merritt. I mean Logan and Valentine...is there a hotter couple that has as much chemistry as them? And in the bedroom...Val is sexually adventurous and Logan is a dirty talking beast under the sheets! Gawd...their first time (*sigh*)

Of course the path to true love never runs smoothly, and when Logan found out about Val's blog and how she described him...well, there was hell to pay. My heart broke for Val, and later for Logan (who had a real stubborn streak about him--nobody's perfect). I even got a bit teary-eyed. But my girl Val was not one to give up (god I just ended up loving her!)

Once again Ms. Bennett proves what an absolutely awesome storyteller she is. She not only fleshes out the characters of Logan and Valentine, but describes the town and Val's experiences in such a way that you feel that you are right there. I just loved everything about this book...I especially loved the character growth of Valentine. I never thought that this city girl who never got her hands dirty could turn into a person who could make it in a remote Alaskan town, but darn if she didn't convince me! Loved her to pieces.

And that epilogue? Outstanding, is all I'm going to say.

Sawyer Bennett fans? This is one of her best. Please don't miss it. It's funny, it's sexy, and such a great, great read. 5 big stars

Logan is one sexy chief.

Valentine is getting bored of the men New York. There just al the same showing what they have and don't have and loving themselves so much you would wonder if they could luv anyone else. Val is just fed up of it so when her cousin suggests she should mix it up a bit and try men somewhere else she actually thinks he's crazy but she might as well try it something new so when her cousin Alaska she just goes with it. I don't think she actually knew what she was doing New York and Alaska for so very different but she was wondering if the men were any good.

Logan is the police chief and he get to see Val as soon as she gets to his little town. He new she was gorgeous and very sexy and out of her depth coming to his town. He could tell straight away that she was from money from the way she went on but there was something about her. Logan wasn't from Alaska he was from Seattle so he knew high class woman but none like Val. He was attracted to her straight away she was sassy and didn't let anything get in the way of what she wanted and this made him want her more and so did the rest of the men in there town. He was goin to have to fight to get Val's attention little did he know that she had already set her sights on him.

I enjoyed this book it was a lil predictable in parts and I could see what was goin to happen but I liked the story and how it turned out. Val and Logan were hot and sexy together. They made a great couple even though they were so different. Logan seemed to bring out the best in Val. It was nice to actually see how different she was from the start of the book till the end she had changed so much the easy life of Alaska suited her more and Logan being there made it easier.

I would recommend this book if u want a light sexy read. There isn't much drama in it but I didn't mind that I was in the mood for a lighter read so I enjoyed.

ARC requested through Netgalley, and kindly provided by Random House Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.

In a new series by one of my go-to authors, we get Valentine and Logan’s love story, told in alternating points of view. This was a sweet and funny story with lots of sexy thrown into the mix. I really enjoyed it.

Valentine, a rich, popular blogger, wrote about her adventures in dating in New York, was sick of all of the metrosexual men she was encountering. On the recommendation of her cousin, Jeremy, Valentine set off for the wilderness in Alaska without truly understanding what she was heading into.

“Then call a car service for me,” she says dramatically. “I can’t believe this town doesn’t have a damn cab in it. This truly is the wilderness.”
I lower my face to hide the smirk that overtakes my mouth, and when I have it under control”

Logan came to her rescue, almost from the moment she arrived. What I loved most about this story was Logan’s reactions to everything Valentine did. From her ineptness at living in the wilderness to her out-of-place sexy, high class ways, I found myself constantly laughing out loud. While Valentine stumbled through dating men in Alaska, Logan was always there for her, getting her out of all kinds of messes and generally being swoon-worthy.

“I can be ready in, say... an hour and a half.”
Logan laughs.
At me.
Shaking his head but still grinning with amusement, he says, “You got fifteen minutes to have your butt in my truck.”

Logan was frustrating but I couldn’t help but love him. He was kind and sexy but also had a flare for overreaction when it came to Valentine. I could have done with a bit more grovelling on his part for some of the conflict that happened with him and Logan but overall I was won over by him.

“You wouldn’t dare take me to jail,” she says defiantly.
I answer by locking handcuffs onto her wrists.
Valentine gasps and then screeches in outrage. “You didn’t just do that. I demand to speak to the mayor.”
“You’re speaking to him,” I tell her with a smirk.”

The one aspect of the book that I didn’t care for was Valentine’s blog. I get that it was the reason for her going to Alaska and inevitably was a source of conflict for Valentine and Logan, but it didn’t sit right with me. Valentine’s blog entries didn’t seem to fit with her personality or her actions in real life. I didn’t like the things she wrote or the the way she talked about people. It made me like her character less.

Great read!

4 - "Why is a girl like you in a roughneck place like this?" Stars!

Sawyer Bennett opens a new series, with a socialite blogger literally upping sticks to try out life in a remote Alaskan town, where the male to female ratio is about 15:1.

This was an easy-going read, Sawyer took a self-confessed townie and put her in a location that you would expect her to struggle with on every level, and Valentine French did that, but with funny and sometimes unexpected consequences.

"There aren’t a lot of women in these parts…"

Police Chief and Town Mayor Logan Burke, seems to be there each and every time she crashes and burns, sometimes spectacularly so, and what started out as an experiment to date as many Au-naturel Alaskan men in an attempt to compare them to the well-coiffed metro-sexual New York male, swiftly turns into an exercise of monogamy with the sexy, Well-hung (and wowza did he know how to use it) un-groomed Alaskan male.

"I love you… But I don’t deserve you."

Sweetly predictable, I liked that although their initial coming together was quite ‘insta’ the author gave them time to reconnect after the inevitable fall out when the subjects of Valentine's blog are discovered.

Quick, well-written and relatively low-drama, this was a story that I read in one sitting and didn’t struggle with at all, although the books in the Love Hurts series are non-connected standalones, I hope that the author returns to the small Alaskan town again at some point as I really enjoyed a lot of the secondary characters interaction in this one. The next book; Jilted is due for release in the summer, let’s hope it’s as entertaining as this one was.

On a side note the original cover for this one was so much better than its current one, and I have no clue as to why the guy is holding a bit of wood, when Logan is in no way a carpenter… The author seems to have a penchant for male head shots on her covers which is fine, but at least try to get them resembling the character described therein.

Highly amusing and very entertaining. That had me rollicking on the floor with all its glory. The last frontier of real men. Welcome ladies to Sex in the Sticks.

After having enough of metrosexual men in New York, enough of the shopping they like to do. Enough of the stock market and hair products Valentine French takes her cousin Jeremy’s advice and moves out to where the ratio of men to women is 15:1.

Alaska, here comes trouble.

The way Valentine comes off at the beginning of the book basically standoffish and a bit of a snob I was thinking oh, oh this isn’t going to go well.

But…

Ms. Bennett did such a good job with Valentine that I could just help but not like her. The more I saw the more down to earth she is. Yes, she is wealthy but she doesn’t go out of her way to flaunt it. As a dating and sex advice columnist which she does more to peeve her family off than anything she else. For her blog, she tries the dating pool in East Merritt.

I mean you can’t not like her when this comes out of her mouth

“Then call a car service for me,” she says dramatically. “I can’t believe this town doesn’t have a damn cab in it. This truly is the wilderness.”

Not to forget that she gets lost in the woods because of her dogs. Her dog nearly gets eaten by an imaginary bear. With the added spice of dates going wrong the Grizzly Plate incident. The Moose Poop Drop you will love it all.

Logan Burke Chief of Police originally from Seattle. All around good guy has also taken a liking to the new gal in town but has treated her with respect. I loved their interactions together there is a good buildup of chemistry between the two. He says that he is helping her because he is the Chief of Police but that is a lie. He even goes shopping with her or what you can call shopping in East Merritt. This isn’t New York Valley.

“I have to get ready. Shower, hair, makeup. And I have to let Sassy out. I can be ready in, say… an hour and a half.” Logan laughs. At me. Shaking his head but still grinning with amusement, he says, “You got fifteen minutes to have your butt in my truck”

The sex scenes are steamy yet have a touch of banter.

“I’m not crazy about your dog because she jumped up on the bed the other night while I was fucking you and licked my ass,” I grumble.

But Logan also screws up by listening to the gossip mill instead of from the horse’s mouth. But earns the right back to date her again that they are exclusive.

For once the heroine must grovel which I loved although the Hero is stubborn but gets his act together. But boy did she screw up. Big time. Anybody could see what she was doing wasn’t a frigging good idea.

I just might be on my best way to beginning a Sawyer Bennett fan but only more books will tell.
There is no o/w drama.

4.5 Stars!

The whole time I'm reading this book, I kept thinking this would make a cute movie. I really enjoyed this low angst book and it would have earned a full 5 stars from me if I didn't want to slap Logan upside the head. I don't know why these men in these books don't do what I want them too.

In all seriousness, if you looking for something that won't get your emotions up too high and for lack of a better word, just want to relax into a book, this is a good choice.

I was pretty envious of Valentine. She's a trust fund baby and lives off her family trust, spending days blogging about her dating life. She was slightly spoiled, but not annoyingly so. She was still relatable and fun. Honestly, sounds like a great life to me.

Valentine is sick and tired of dating metro-sexual males in New York. She wants a change and her cousin suggest going to Alaska to meet a different type of male. As part of her dating and sex advice blog, she decides this is a great idea and goes blindly to a small town in Alaska.

This was where I was afraid the spoiled Valentine would get too annoying, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, she's used to finer things in life but she adapted pretty quickly. Got into a lot of little mishaps that just made the book fun and introduced so many characters living in this little town that you felt like you were right there with her.

Valentine starts this trip out by wanting to serial date these rugged, manly men but learns real quick that Logan, the chief and mayor of Merritt, Alaska is the only man she wants to get to know.

I loved Logan, but there was two times in the book I wanted to slap him upside the head. Nothing too serious, just the typical stubborn male and too much pride. I really loved how Valentine treated these instances. I didn't really think the conflict towards the end was worth the reaction he gave her but she couldn't have handled it any better.

Overall, a fun read and I'm so curious who the next book will be about. I really hope we will be staying in Merritt for the next couple. I truly enjoyed the background setting of this story. ARC provided by Netgalley.

I have always had an extreme love for romance stories about the men of Alaska and a heroine who is from the city and goes to the wilderness to find love!! Sawyer Bennett's new book features Valentine French; who is from New York and writes a blog about her interesting dating life. The thing is she has become bored with the men of New York, and has lost inspiration to keep her blog going, as there is no excitement to the men she is going out with. Her friends suggests she take a trip to Alaska...Apparently, this small town has way more men than women...and even better....these men are hard core rugged, strong, sexy, and alpha to their core...Oh yeah! Inspiration has now been found! That inspiration has a name....it is Logan...and he turns out to be the chief of police for this very small town in "the Sticks!!!" Looks like Valentine has lots to write about now!!!

I loved this read!!! It was cute, funny, and super sexy!!! Logan is one of those heroes that I couldn't help but drool for!!! At times Valentine wasn't my favorite heroine... but she wasn't terrible...I could tolerate her!! Some of the situations she gets herself into are ridiculous...but I totally understood why she did. I mean, she is a city girl to her core, and all of a sudden she is thrown into the boonies with absolutely no skills about how to live in a place like Alaska.
I think my enjoyment was even more because I live in the north...in Canada....where I come from, it is very similar to Alaska! We have lots of Moose, bears, and snow too...LOL There are definitely a lot of things that I can relate to in this story, and it just made me love this book even more!!

Do I recommend this one? Absolutely!!! No, it is not huge on the angst...but it is a quirky, fun, and feel good story...I am putting it as one of my faves of this year...and it doesn't surprise me that it is written by SB...She has written a few stories that I have fallen in love with in the past....so here is another to add to my growing list of love Sawyer Bennett books...LOL

Refreshing different heroine.

Some readers may call her a spoiled brat, but I liked her.

Finally a sexually confident woman!

I liked her sass, I loved that she wasn't immediately smitten with the hero.
No arousal dripping down her thighs, no cutting holes with her puckered nipples through winter coat and stuff like this.

If you're also tired of reading about hormonal unstable females you would probably enjoy this one.

She came from money and did actually nothing with her life, except her dating blog. Would I say no to having much money? Hell, no! Do I judge or dislike a person only because he/she is rich? Hell, no! I'm not jealous of her, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I find it pretty cool not to worry about money, but just have a lot of it. As always honest, even if it brings me to my minority bubble. So sue me! 😎

The only thing I would change, I wished she made more charity.
I would definitely support animal shelters if I were a  millionaire. I do support them now even I'm not rich, but I dream to build a huge one and save them all! 😇
But the book wasn't about me, so back to the story.

I didn't like the hero. Not a bit. Except for his big c*ck he had nothing I would give him a second glance. And common, girls, you know that a huge c*ck looks appealing only on page, don't you? I didn't enjoy their sex-scenes, tiny her and big him made me think of much pain...*shudder* 🤕
And the scenes with her cuffed with his "work" cuffs left me with unsanitary feeling. 😨

Well, I liked the book till she wasn't given the benefit of the doubt and ended to be the guilty one. I didn't support her blog and not everything she did was right, but I don't like to read about women fighting for the men. No my coppa. It wasn't that bad, but I wish he groveled more and she didn't say, that she didn't deserve him.

It's sad if I, as a reader, don't cheer the MCs up to end together. 🙁

3.5 stars

This was a slow start, and there was almost no angst or drama. I almost want to give it three stars because I fell asleep reading it before I got to 50%.

Logan was very yummy, but I don't think he would have ever done anything if Valentine hadn't made the first move. Great town with lots and lots of buff, outdoor loving guys to find HEAs for.

New series of Sawyer Bennett? You can count me on! A big city girl and a handsome Alaska man. I already like it and need no more encouragement.

New York girl, Valentine French who writes sex and dating advice blog wants some change and a real man. Following her friend's advice, she decides to look for that in East Merritt, Alaska. Of course, she is not prepared for how different life is there. In this way, she meets chief of police, Logan Burke.

Do you remember there was that kind of tv series? It's something like that and it's cute and fun and wonderful! They have great chemistry together and really you can not get bored with their story and adventures in Alaska. It is predictable but still cool.

I love Sawyer Bennett books, she's a great way to create heroes. It's always a nice time with a book. You can not choose wrong here.

"3- What happens when a city girl goes to the sticks Stars!"

I was kinda disappointed with this book.
You see, I had just recently read The Hard Truth About Sunshine the first and only book I've read by this author and I absolutely LOVED it. I was expecting the same calibre of writing and story development, but unfortunately, I'm sad to say that this book did not have that.
I found the story very predictable to the point where I had to put the book down for a day because I knew what was going to happen and it pissed me off.
I liked the main characters but didn't love them and I had a hard time connecting with Valentine.
Logan was an okay character, but not a favorite.

This was an okay read for me, but others may thoroughly enjoy this story.
If you give this story a go, happy reading!

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to continue on with this series.

Blurb:

Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

Valentine finally had enough of the New York City dating scene. She feels like every guy she's dating is the same kind of vain, metrosexual, cell-phone-addicted idiot. She has enough money in her own bank account - she doesn't need a rich guy to show her a good time - and none of those have guys shown her a good time in a long while!
That's why she's now in Alaska. Following her favorite cousin's advice. Alaska has 15 times more men than women. Manly men!

description

And she can write her dating column from wherever she wants.
And for now it'll be Alaska.
Enter Logan.

description

He's the first guy she meets. The chief of police in this little town! And realllly hot too.
Not a bad start!
But can a millionaire city girl and a simple, nature-loving guy, start something real?? Or will it just be a vacation fling?
And will Valentine and her tiny 'dog' Sassy even survive this trip? The cold, the bears et cetera?

WHAT KiND OF ADVENTURES ARE WAiTiNG FOR VALENTiNE IN THE WiLDERNESS??
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPiLY EVER AFTER FOR HER & LOGAN?
READ THE BOOK TO FiND OUT! ☺☺☺

Adorable!

Picture Sex and the City meets Men in Trees!
I watched both of those shows and I loved them. And I can totally see Valentine walking around this little town with her designer shoes just like Anne Heche did!
That's why I was a tiny little bit disappointed that we don't have anything new here. I think this Alaska-thing has been romance-novelled a million times before - BUT - I still loved it.
It's a great romance, great location, great cast. Funny, adorable, exciting, sweet and verrry erotic!
I don't really have anything to complain about. Maybe just that we're constantly waiting for the dating-column-bomb to explode. Because Valentine kind of neglects to tell anyone why she came to Alaska in the first place - and everything she's building there might blow up in her face, BUT of course we also know that there'll be Happily Ever After ... so we can hope she'll fix everything in time!

I spent some adorable reading hours with Valentine and Logan and I wouldn't mind watching this book on tv one day!

I had some tiny problems with the writing...as with every Sawyer book. It's Sawyer's and my thing ☺ It's only me who has those problems with her writing. So please don't be worried or just scroll down and don't read the following... it wasn't as bad as the other books - it didn't even start here until I was 9% into the book. I had huge hopes, but then it began with the....ASSES.
I have a HUGE AS problem in every book I read - especially, or rather, only, in American books! Sawyer always uses too many of those AS'es ☺ You know the AS'es I'm talking about? The AS that could be and should be exchanged for a SINCE or a BECAUSE ☺ It's a formal thing and then it's mostly only a British thing (if it's a thing at all!) and it doesn't have anything to do in an American book by an American author - especially when it's said by a manly 37-year-old guy from Alaska!!!!
I really don't want to insult Sawyer. I love all her books, and maybe nobody ever told her she does that.... so, Sawyer....please stop doing it. But pfff who am I to tell her what to do, so just forget I said anything! It doesn't stop her books from being great!

Another tiny little thing. The cover. No idea why, but if you miss that the thing he has in his hands is a wood-piece, you might think this is a baseball romance, at least I thought so...and also, he's not really doing anything with wood in the book - he's the police chief - so I'm not really in love with the cover - and the guy looks nothing like Logan is described either.
BUT ....

SEX IN THE STICKS was an adorable lovestory! Rich city-girl meets hot Alaska sheriff! Funny, sweet, exciting and very sexy! Run to your nearest amazon for your own sexy wilderness cop - Logan is MINE! ☺

I gave this audiobook a B+ for the story and  A- for Joe Arden's narration and B for Maxine Mitchell's narration at AudioGals.

If you ever wondered how Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City would have fared in Alaska, then look no further, Sex in the Sticks will definitely fulfill this itch. This romantic comedy had me smiling throughout many of its scenes and the heat level was beyond a doubt more amped up than what I had anticipated. No super complicated plot lines here, really just a fun, sexy romance that is a perfect vacation listen, and the narration duo of Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden do a good job of bringing this story to life which is always a bonus for audiobook fans!

Valentine French, an independently wealthy Manhattan socialite who writes a dating and sex advice blog for fun, is tired of all the metrosexuals that seem to be the only men she can find in New York City. What’s more, she’s convinced that her blog is suffering because of her lack of enthusiasm with the dating market, as she frequently writes about her own dating adventures on her blog. So, with the help of her cousin, she comes up with the plan to take a sabbatical in Alaska to see what dating Alaskan men is like.

Thus begins Valentine’s adventure to a small town in Alaska where the number of men way outnumbers the number of women. Needless to say, she has no issue getting (and scheduling) multiple dates. However, Logan Burke, the one man (the sheriff and mayor of the town – it’s that small of a town!) that has come to her rescue numerous times (as her ill-adapted wardrobe for Alaskan temperatures gets her in trouble, plus he saves her when she gets lost in the woods looking for her tiny dog) is the main prospect that she would love to check-out and date. Too bad he’s not interested, or is he? Moreover, what will happen when the truth comes out that she’s been publicly writing about her escapades in this very private town?

Tall, dark, dirty-talking hottie on deck and I was all for it!!

Here's the breakdown: Valentine is a dating and sex advice columnist who's grown tired of the New York dating scene. At the advice of her cousin, she travels to Alaska to sample a different type of man. Quick! Google the ratio of women to men in Alaska! I'd go to! Yep, the odds are different in favor of women there. LOL What Val didn't anticipate was tall, dark, Alaskan hottie.

What I loved:Val is a super fan character. She's not at all what I expected and flies by the seat of her pants. She's a free spirit what marches to the beat of her own drum. I admired that!!

Logan - See above reference to dirty-talking, sexy, alpha. He was definitely an interesting character. Not perfect, but pretty darn close.

The mishaps and various shenanigans Val is involved in were hilarious!! She turned that small Alaskan town on it's head. It was super cute.

Overall, this is a light, fun hearted, quick read that's sure to entertain any romance lover.

Sex in the Sticks is a new series for Sawyer Bennett titled Love Hurts. Nestled in the rustic Alaskan landscape, our heroine ventures from her life as an elite relationship blogger in New York City to the polar opposite life as she knows. She's tired of the Manhatten Metrosexual kind of guys and wants to go research where the manly men are. Apparently Alaska. Where men outnumber women 15 to 1. This should spice up her blog!

Logan Burke is the small town police chief and mayor. Not a whole lot happens in this one-horse town so when he meets a very disgruntled albeit beautiful ferry passenger loaded to the hilt with Louis Vitton luggage demanding why she can't get a taxi to her B&B, he feels obliged to rescue the ferry worker come to her aide. Apparently big city Valentine French wasn't expecting such limited resources for her "vacation" to the Alaska wilderness.

Alaska- where the men are big, burly and alpha. Public transportation and posh accommodations may be limited but the man candy inspiration is plentiful for Valentine's blog. Men seem to be falling at her feet but there's just one chivalrous piece of man meat she wishes would ask her out- town police chief Logan Burke.

Sex in the Sticks I read in one day. It's easy reading, cute and sassy, low in angst. One word to describe it is charming. Sawyer Bennett places her readers front and center in the Alaskan wilderness and I have a new burning desire to visit! For the beautiful landscape... the plethora of lumberjacks just an added bonus. Looking forward to more in the Love Hurts series.

Valentina French is sassy and loaded, she's also a dating columnist online in New York and is sick of dating metrosexuals, craving a change for a real man she decides to take a vacation to Alaska where the men outnumber the women and hopefully find a real tough man to date. But Valentina discovers that on meeting the local sheriff and mayor of the small town she's adopted Logan Burke she's having feelings for him that is all new to her and love grows between the two until Logan finds Valentine's online dating blog and feels like he's just another experiment in a long line of men, so can Valentina convince him that he isn't? I loved this story, the two main characters were so lovable and funny together, the sex was hot and the story line engaging and interesting. Great narration by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden.

4.5 extremely happy stars.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review.
I would probably classify this as more of a rom-com than contemporary romance novel and certainly much less angsty than any of the previous books that I have read by this author so I was very happily surprised upon reading this book . It was fresh, funny, sexy and not to serious but I seriously loved reading every minute of it. What's more exciting is that this isn't a one-off but the first in a series of standalone romances from Sawyer Bennett (Love Hurts #1)
I loved Valentine French as the somewhat spoiled City girl who blogged about sex and dating until she decided that she was done with the self-centered and self- interested metrosexuals that she has been dating and decides to head to Alaska to meet some all American men in a place where men outnumber women 15:1.
In the small town of East Merritt, Valentine is like an endangered species with it's population of studly lumberjacks and fishermen . Her first day in town she visits the local bar and restaurant "The Wounded Caribou" and is hit on immediately by almost every single guy there. She has no trouble lining up dates for her blog "Valentine's Couch" and is soon writing some of her best columns ever.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of this little town and the first resident that Val encounters when she arrives. Although he doesn't judge Val when she tells him about her social plans including her serial dating experiment he also doesn't ask her out on a date like every other male in town with a pulse. He finds himself attracted to Val but he knows that one date probably won't be enough for him.
The question is will Val wake up and notice that Logan is the perfect (sweet and sexy) guy for her before she leaves to return to her old life in NYC.
I have to say that if I didn't know Sawyer Bennett for her other works like "The Sugar Bowl" series I would think that she had found her calling but seriously this woman can write about anything. I can so recommend reading this book.

Sex in the Sticks was a fun, steamy and very entertaining read.
From the first few pages I was hooked, the storyline was well written, the plot easy to follow and held my interest all throughout the book.

Valentine and Logan were likable, passionate characters that I easily connected with and loved watching them come together.

***AVAILABLE NOW - FULL REVIEW***

4 Alaskan CROWNS

Sawyer Bennett's first book in the Love Hurts series is everything readers have come to expect from her books, lovable characters, entertaining stories, and steamy chemistry.

Val and Logan are from opposite sides of the track. Logan is the Alaskan Chief of the town, is knowledgeable in all things related to the wilderness, and is caring, even for NY outsiders. His kindness continuously puts him in the path of Val, and with each encounter, their chemistry grows until it explodes one steamy morning. Logan's counterpart, Val, is everything he isn't. She is pampered and rich, and she has zero ability to survive in the wilderness. Like Logan, readers will love her tenacity to acclimate to this new town and the people in it. And while she writes about her experiences without the knowledge of the town, it is never down in a malicious way, and once she becomes invested her choices and decisions change, making what she does at the beginning forgivable.

The chemistry between these two is great. The way he takes care of her, the way she embraces the new lifestyle, and how the come together make this story more than just a lust driven story. Don't worry, though, in true Sawyer Bennett fashion, the intimate scenes between the two are HOT!! She never disappoints in this area.

Readers are going to really enjoy this new town Ms. Bennett has created. It is filled with quirky and endearing characters who I cannot wait to read more about, and it has that home town feel that small town romance lovers will appreciate. Additionally, the author provides the perfect balance of emotional and physical intimacy to make their relationship authentic, yet sizzling. The conflict of the story is one that readers will see coming, but readers are going to enjoy how Val handles it and the resolution of the story.

Sawyer Bennett has created another world that I cannot wait to visit again. It will be exciting to see who the next story is about, revisit Logan and Val, and to see how this little town is going to change as the series unfolds. It is certainly another book worthy of one-clicking.

SEX IN THE STICKS was a fun, light read, one of those books where you grin at times reading. The premise for this book was kind of perfect, rich socialite travels to Alaska to partake in the glut of men out there. I didn't need much encouragement to be invested in the idea of a rugged Alaskan man, it came naturally but I did need time to like heroine, Valentine. This is the second jobless-socialite I've read lately and initially this kind of heroine doesn't draw me in. She does write her own sex and dating blog though, thus her trip to Alaska. I did come to like Valentine more as the story developed.

The hero was a different matter, Logan, chief of police was the epitome of rugged, capable, outdoor-man. I liked his reticence when it came to Valentine, he sat back and watched her antics. Her antics were funny and I smirked and sniggered along the way. These two definitely had chemistry and their coupling made the blog melt-down with comments.

I definitely want to see more of this series and setting. There are more men in East Merritt, Alaska that need a book and I'm here to read that. Sawyer Bennett certainly has skills of creating a great premise and this book is well executed yet on the light side of contemporary.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher through netgalley in return for a honest review.

I don't like this heroine. Maybe she would grow on me if I read further but I don't think so. She rubs me the wrong way... I guess too judgmental? I only read about 20% but I'm just not invested in her.

I don't know how Sawyer Bennett does but she does it good! Yep she is just one incredible author that captures me every – damn – time! I had so much fun with Sex in the Sticks! I might even have a crush on Valentine... Y ep you read that right, I have a crush on a heroine and not a hero; even if Logan was definitely a catch himself.

Valentine French is a blogger bored out of her mind with men in New York. She can't seem to find one who's perfect for him and can keep her entertained. So after getting some advice and done her research, she's off to Alaska to find what other men have in store for her.
Logan Burke is the police chief and mayor of a small town with mainly men working hard. As a beautiful woman, he can't ignore Valentine and her flirty ways. And when it comes to help her, he's all the hero she needs.

My love for this book just kept growing all throughout my read. I loved how Valentine was. She is not uptight has I would have expected her to be when you know how rich she is and how her passion is her blog with no much on the side. I loved the pace of the story, how we discover Alaska and its beauty - I've never been there but I want so bad right now – how the genuine relation evolves between our MC, how all the different characters of the book are just endearing and I want them all as friends.

I can't wait to read all the fabulous story happening in Alaska. I want to go back already!

First off, I have to say, pay NO attention to the guy on the book cover. That's NOT him. Logan has about 25 lbs more muscle than that guy. Way more rugged and scruffy whiskers too.
This story starts off with the heroine, Valentine on her last date with an NYC metrosexual man. She complains to her bff/cousin Jeremy. Valentine says that she wants to still play the field but wants a rugged alpha man. She can't find any in NYC. Jeremy suggests............Alaska..... Alaska?
Valentine is from a very wealthy family. She doesn't need to work, but she does have a dating blog. Her posts are tips of all sorts related to finding a man and mutual satisfaction. She's very blunt in her blogs-discussing sexual positions, sex acts and the sky's the limit. It's like the NC 17 version of Sex and the City (minus bitchy Samantha & Miranda). Cousin Jeremy is like Charlotte, but not ditsy & Jeremy is a crack up.

Logan is the Chief of Police (1 man department) in East Merritt. He meets Valentine when he's picking up supplies & spots her when her ferry comes in. The setting is a fictional town in the southern part of Alaska. Good thing for Valentine-it's Summer in Alaska. Of course she's unprepared for the rugged outdoors. She does bring Sassy- her (of course) fluffy white dog. She has her Louis Vuitton luggage-enough for 5 people. Somehow Val gets Logan to help her get her stuff to the boarding house where she's booked to stay. No taxis! No Town Car.
Valentine doesn't milk the fish- out-of water bit. She tries her best to assimilate. There's some really funny moments. I laughed a lot in the first few chapters. She has to trade in her spiked-heeled boots & tight white pants for more practical clothing.
Valentine came to Alaska to experience the 15:1 men/ women ratio. She reports her experiences in her blog column, "Valentine's Couch".
Valentine catches the eyes of a lot of guys in town. The main hangout in town is a restaurant/bar called The Wounded Caribou. Logan hurries & stakes his claim to Valentine's attention. She had planned on serial dating but Logan & Valentine are soon dating exclusively. There's a few misunderstandings and make-ups. I really liked Val and Logan. This is first person POV, alternating Logan & Valentine.

The chemistry between these two... wow.
Both are sexually compatible in experience and desire. They are both extremely attracted to each other.
Valentine doesn't mind complementing Logan's size. He is a big guy.
Valentine is a beautiful tall, leggy redhead. Ultra feminine. Smart & witty. Logan more than appreciates her.
I love when there's plenty of time to explore their relationship-even though Logan knew Val would be leaving to go back to NYC.
About 75%, in there's an annual competition called "Wild Wilderness Woman" contest.
Valentine is a late entry. The event: debone a salmon; chopping wood, building a fire, carving a moose carcass and a surprise event called Honey, I'm Home. City girl Valentine goes all out with what she knows.

Eventually. the shit was bound to hit the fan.
Val goes back home but takes her broken heart with her. Logan doesn't walk away unscathed.
Val has to grovel. I didn't like how long it took Logan to come around.
I did like the sexy, funny ending and the epilogue. There were a few loose ends that I wanted to know what happened. I'll give 4.5 stars. This book was so much fun & freakin' HOT.
ARC provided by NetGalley. I highly recommend this book.
