Jennifer Anderson's My Brothers Wedding is a sweet and simple story about the one who got away.
Allison has moved away from home and is back for her brother's wedding, but when finding out that her crush and her brothers best friend will be there she concocts a story with a co-worker George, who is really gay, that they are in a relationship and then later engaged. All this so she doesn't have to confront how she really feels about Ryan her teenage crush, the one who got away.
I gave this story 4 stars because it is a plot I have read numerous times. I felt as though Alison needed to speak up and let Ryan know her feelings instead of hiding behind the pretense of a pretend fiance. But in the end the truth comes out and Ryan reveals his feelings for her, There are no sex scenes in this book, and that was refreshing. I actually think if she included any, it would have taken away from the heart of the story- about second chances with the one who got away. I recommend this to those who like a sweeter romance story without the sex. To me it was a quick lighthearted read and would read from this author again.
Sweet story about the one that got away, family, friends and going home. Quick read. I love that the author is from St Louis, the description of the Bride Shop in downtown St Louis was spot on!!
My Brother's Wedding is a fun romantic read about second chances and missed opportunities. The heroine returns home for her brother's wedding and is surprised how much has changed while she was gone. Life's like that. We are busy living and can forget everyone else is busy living, too, even if we don't see them doing it. Returning home is tricky for anyone and easy to relate too. Explaining her life choices to her mother is frustrating and I cringed alongside her. Wondering where her life is going ... who hasn't been there a time or two? Ah, but there's good news. This awkward heroine runs into HIM. You know him. The one that got away? Him. And the story really takes off. My Brother's Wedding is a quick happy read. Enjoy!
