A detailed view, day by day, of WWII from the day hostilities erupted in China with Japan in 1931 to the official declaration of the end of hostilities well over a decade later. There were quite a few surprises, but perhaps the true gem is the appendixes listing the expenses of the war by equipment, casualties, etc., by nation and theater.
