Disney’s new movie Chicken Little is retold in this Little Golden Book that is destined to become an instant classic! Young readers will delight in the story of a young chick who goes from being a little laughing stock to Mr. Big!
I would not recommend this book to my children because it did not have a very strong plot. Chicken little as most of us know, is the story of a little chicken who is hit in the head with an acorn. Chicken Little then assumes that they sky is falling because he believes that whatever hit him in the head, came from the sky. Along his journey to tell the king about the sky falling, Chicken Little meets many characters. One of those characters stops him from making it to the king. The ending to this story was weak and kind of disappointing because it destroyed what could of been an excellent idea.

Illustrations: The illustrations in this story really helped improve the book. I think I gave this book two stars strictly on the illustrations rather than the story line. Anytime you see animals dressed up in clothing you have to laugh a little.
Uses: Like I said above, I'm not sure I would use this book in my classroom but if I had to I would make this a read aloud that I read once and then put it away.
Activity: Because the ending to this story was so weak I may be able to turn that into a writing assignment with my students. I could have my kids rewrite the ending to the story. That would be fun to see how the children see this story ending. Maybe I could even read halfway into the story and not let them see the ending until they finnish their own assignments.
Chicken Little was looking for food under an apple tree when an apple fell and plunk her on the head. Chicken Little thought the sky was falling because a piece of it fell on her head.
On her way to tell the King, Chicken Little runs into Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Solomon the wise old owl. Solomon asks Chicken Little to show him where it happened.
Chicken Little is a very good story on embracing critical thinking and investigation.
This is an entertaining story that is based on the Disney movie. The narrative is loosely based on the classic tale Chicken Little and has all the adorable illustrative charm of Disney's artists. The story is just okay, but our girls really liked the movie, so they liked the book, too. I know we've read this one before, but I can't remember when, so when we reread it again tonight, I finally got around to logging it.
This is another one that Julia really got into- she loves the characters and could listen to this over and over. I like how closely it stays to the movie, which she's seen, so she's able to follow along a little better.
**Rating from Julia reading it herself for school 11/16/12**
This is a traditional literature book. I would read this book to early elementary students. This book is about a chicken who thinks the sky is falling. Nobody believes him until the whole sky actually starts falling and aliens come.
This reminds me of the boy who cried wolf, except, Chicken Little really was telling what he thought to be the truth. He was under a tree, when an octagon shape piece of the sky fell and him on the head! He told the entire town and they all thought he was crazy! They said that it was problably just an acorn. Time had gone past and many forgot about the insedient, except for Chicken Little. After his victory at the baseball game, his father was very proud of him. That same night, he was in his room when another octagon shaped peice of the sky came falling down. He could not beleive it! NOT AGAIN! he thought. A little alien baby came with in an started a whole alien invasion by its parents in attempt to find him. He later found out that is was a part of a spacecraft that carried aliens who really liked the acorns the town had to offer. The town felt bad for not beleiving him.
