A Guide to Pohnpei: An Island Argosy

Rate this book
This book relates much of the history of Pohnpei (Ponape) that has never written down for future generations to enjoy. On the islands, much of history is related verbally and passed on from generation to generation, and many of the stories are told differently, but now we have a written record as a beginning basis. This book is hard to find but well worth the effort if you like to wander the tropical islands, especially researching information about the colonial powers such as Spain, Germany, Japan, and the USA at the end of World War II. The writing is clear and precise; it had better be, as Gene was an English teacher.
