It looks impressive, but beyond the (attempted) ambition of being a one-stop source for brief snippets of information, it's nothing to write home about. It serves its purpose.

An excellent historical resource complete with cross-references to related entries. I've had it on my shelf forever and used it extensively.
Although admittedly it's become considerably less relevant with the advent of Google and Wikipedia etc. I still enjoy having the book to page through.
