Texas Lily by Patricia Rice,
This book is the first in the Tin-Stars and Troublemakers boxset. I have to say that I honestly really enjoyed this book. Cade had to deal with so much in his life. Yet he came out of it all a good man. I loved how protective he got of Lily, he wanted to make her happy before he even realized that he wanted to make her happy. I loved Lily for her courage, and for her ability to see Cade as a man and not a skin color or heritage. There's a lot of action going on in this book. For those who really like historical romances, I would recommend. <3

Texas Outlaw by Adrienne deWolfe
I'm going to be honest, at first, I had a hard time getting into this book. It wasn't bad, I just couldn't get into it, and yet, I couldn't give up on it. I had to find out what happened next. This is the first book I have ever read, that dragged me into the story without me even being aware that I was being dragged. I'm glad I did though. I LOVE this book. I loved how Fancy redeemed herself. I love Cord for being Cord. Wes was hilarious and adorable, and Zach had such a quiet dignity to him, you could just tell that the two of them are going to turn into some amazing men when they get a little older. While reading this story, I laughed, I cried, I cursed, I gasped, and I laughed some more. I highly recommend this book. <3

The Law and Miss Penny by Sharon Ihle
I highly enjoyed this book. I admit that, at first, I didn't care at all for Mariah and her family. I didn't like how they could lie and disrupt someones life the way they did, especially out of a misguided sense of vengeance and greed. But, the more I got to know them, the more their consciences got to them, the more they grew on me. Artemis added a lot to this story. I would recommend this book. <3

Say You Love Me by Patricia Hagan,
I very highly enjoyed this book. *Slight spoilers not enough to really give anything away, but hints*. Michael got on my nerves, he refused to see what Jacie wanted and didn't care when she tried to tell him. I have to say that Sunstar/Iris surprised me, I would have thought that she would want to hold on to her new-found, long lost daughter a bit harder than she did. I loved Luke, I understood his motivations, and adored his sweetness and the way he cared for those he loved. I also loved how he refused to let Jacie go without giving her a choice. I liked Jacie for her spunk and kindness, and her devotion to Luke. I highly recommend this book. <3

All solid stories

This is a set of 4 full length novels set in Texas, New Mexico, and southern Colorado. After reading several sweet Western romances set in Wyoming and Montana, I found these more challenging and brutal in their realism: gun fights, bank robberies, Indian raids, kidnappings. Also I am more familiar with the geography and history of Wyoming and Montana, than Texas.

Texas Lily is a complicated story of a young Mississippi lady and her son, a dead husband, a half-breed ranch foreman and his daughter, and an itinerant peddler. Land rights, corruption, Santa Ana, Houston, and Indian relocation all figure in to the story. Can Lily and Cade bridge their cultural differences to cobble together a family in this new Texas?

Texas Outlaw is the story of Fancy who just wants a regular life with someone to love her. Born into prostitution, she turns to train robbing, gambling, and sweet talking to get what she wants. Then she runs into U.S. Marshall Cord Rawlins. Can Cord serve justice and save Fancy as well? The train robbery and the bank robbery are both pretty brutal. Captor/captive romance.

The Law and Miss Penny is set in a traveling medicine show. U.S. Marshall Morgan Slater runs the Penny family and their medicine show out of town. While helping to get their wagon unstuck, Slater takes a blow to the head and has amnesia. The family takes advantage of his forgotten memory. I almost didn't finish this after about the first 1/4. I didn't like the con. However, this novel has an interesting cast of characters. It ended better than it began.

Say You Love Me stretches from a large plantation in northern Georgia to near Fort Worth, Texas. Jacie grows up on the Blake plantation believing that her aunt and uncle are her parents. Young Michael Blake grows believing that Jacie will marry him. To complicate matters Jacie's birthmother lives with the Comanche. Who needs to say I love you?

3.5, rounded to Four.

As a fan of historical fiction, I downloaded this book based on the title alone. Woops!

Being a little bit of a romantic at heart, in my 7th decade, I decided to read the four books included in the set.

They were all fun reads and each had a few spelling and grammatical errors, so starting from five stars, I had to deduct 1/2 star. A couple of the books either had too many characters or lacked character development, again, minus 1/2 star. While the books were close to being historically accurate for the times, there were times when the deveation was to much to be excused - minus 1/2 star.

I would recommend this book if you are a fan of historical romance.

If you are a fan of fiction of the Old West, I recommend you pass on this collection of books.

Very Entertaining

I must say, I barely laid this bundle down! I very much enjoyed reading this cowboy bundle. I'm an avid fan of western books. I have read them since I was very young due to the fact they were all my father read growing up. There is so much variety among the different avenues of western subject from one story to the next. There are differences about where you get your mind-set to be such as out on the plains or being hijacked riding a train And especially the final read goes from a kidnapping in South Carolina then rudely absconded out West with no explanation to what was taking place and why!

Texas Lily: It's possible this turned into an interesting book but by page 5 I was sp bored i had tears in my eyes. There are too many names too learn and not enough interesting stuff going on. DNF
Texas Outlaw: What woman writes like this? A "bulging bustline"...ick. A heroine that wants to marry someone she fears will send to the whorehouse if she missteps....ickier. No thank you friends. DNF
The Law and Miss Penny: Ugh all the ignorance...i know its historically accurate but it was making my brain hurt. DNF
So yeah....I'd skip this one if i were you

Say you love me-- last book in the set... 3.5 stars out of 5 an okay story, could have been better. jumped to many different characters which gets confusing after awhile. some spelling/grammar errors and wrong character mentioned. also seemed to have many different subplot things going on that could have been better if there weren't a lot of them. Ending seemed to be really rushed.

For my ratings of the first 3 stories, look in my reading progress section.

Wasn't able to read the third book - just couldn't get past the part where they mislead the hero when he lost his memory. All the rest were OK - they had some issues but were readable.
