Very much enjoyed reading about the war on the "ground" by the French Resistance. Much more extensive than I knew. It is well written and easy to read. It keeps you interested chapter by chapter. The author was one of the organizers and leaders, so was involved from the beginning. Those men and women were ingenious and determined. There were so many examples of things they did. My mother lived through this war in France, so I was particularly interested. I only gave it 4-stars because it is probably for a more specific audience.

The true-life biography of a true-life hero. A French citizen, Philippe de Vomecourt was one of three brothers who worked behind German lines in war-torn WWII France. He fought Nazi aggression by organizing resistance movements and directing sabotage operations. Head of the VENTRILOQUIST circuit in the Unoccupied Zone of France, Philippe (codenamed "Gauthier"), was hunted and captured by the Gestapo but escaped through skill, cunning, and a bit of luck. His story, well told, reminds us of the many French patriots who resisted collaboration and fought courageously to liberate their country.
