Hippity, hoppity...w oof ! Join Biscuit on an Easter adventure, with flaps for your little egg hunters to lift! Biscuit's first Easter egg hunt is going to be egg-stra special. Where are all the eggs hidden? Your little pup will enjoy lifting the flaps to find the eggs! Happy Easter, Biscuit! is a fun Easter basket and springtime gift. Biscuit and the little girl have been warmly embraced by families for 25 years. Author Alyssa Satin Capucilli "It is my childhood dream of having a dog, perhaps a somewhat universal dream, that fuels the emotional life of the young child that cares so lovingly for Biscuit. And knowing that the fluid imagination of a child believes a beloved pet can understand every word spoken to them, the words 'woof, woof' not only become the voice of a small yellow puppy, but of every reader’s invention as well."
Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.
Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.
The little girl and Biscuit search for Easter eggs outside their home, and readers get to help by lifting the many flaps throughout this blah book.
A mouse keeps popping up for no reason and with no payoff in the end. Some other little critters pop up too, though not as much as the mouse. Is it just Backyard Wildlife Appreciation Day in addition to Easter? But the family has an outdoor cat too, so I'm guessing those little animals' days are numbered.
HAPPY EASTER, BISCUIT! is a lift-the-flap Easter egg hunt featuring Biscuit. The little girl and Biscuit are on the hunt for Easter eggs, which are hidden all over. Each page spread features 1-2 lift-the-flaps to search for eggs, though sometimes Biscuit finds something else, such as Daisy the cat or an Easter bunny. At the end of the hunt, the basket is suddenly empty. Where did the Easter eggs go? Biscuit found his own special hiding place for them.
What I loved: The text is really simple and great for early readers. The storyline is very simple and will appeal to very young listeners. Biscuit is as cute as ever, with plenty of antics and giggles along the way. The flaps are frequently found throughout the book, with plenty to lift. This is a great non-religious book to celebrate the holiday. The flaps will sometimes reveal more text, and both sides of each flap are printed on for an extra dose of color and fun.
What left me wanting more: As a small note, the flaps are glued onto the page and are rather thin in construction. For young children (those who often rip-the-flap books), these will be easy to tear.
Final verdict: Whether a current fan of Biscuit or new to his stories, this is fun lift-the-flap Easter-themed adventure. Young readers will enjoy searching for the eggs along with Biscuit. Early readers will enjoy the clear font and easy-to-read text.
Please note that I received a review copy. All opinions are my own.
Apparently this book is now in my home, as my SD picked it for one of her bedtime books. I don't dislike Biscuit. He's a cute dog. And there are some good easy readers for kids involving biscuit. But this lift-the-flap was not so fun to read aloud. Perhaps because it had also been a long day and I was very tired. Not awful; has its place. But wasn't one I enjoyed reading.
I love this "peek-a-boo" book about Easter. I read this book to my children just before they had their Easter egg hunt. It is an easy, fun read.it engages the children during reading with the pop-up flaps. They can not wait to turn the page to see if biscuit the adorable puppy found more Easter eggs.

This story is about a little girl and her dog, Biscuit, who go on an Easter egg hunt. This book is geared towards young kids (ages 2-6). What they would especially enjoy about this book, is that that it's interactive. There is a flap to lift on each page, where the child can see if there are eggs hiding.
Biscuit and his owner are going on an Easter Egg hunt and he is trying to help her find eggs. The book has flap to open to find where the Easter eggs are hidden. Preschool-2nd grade is a good age level for this book. Fun, interactive book that gets the child involved and gets to go on an Easter egg hunt with Biscuit and his owner.
