I got this as a grad gift last May and I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it! This book was SO good! I highly recommend this book to anyone (even if you're not a Christ follower) it's filled with wisdom for life! It also has plenty of excellent and relevant quotes for each chapter, as well as, various anecdotes of real people who made good choices that led them to great lives and influence to help people. It covers topics from values, to love, to serving, to communication and more! A must read for young people and still useful at any age!

Sách self-help. Đọc giải trí cũng được. Với mình, sách không phải hay nhưng không dở. Nội dung chủ yếu khuyên các bạn tự kỷ luật và sáng suốt lựa chọn, sống cho tử tế.

Sách in rất đẹp, giấy dày.

Mình thích những quyển nặng đô hơn chút nữa cơ.

This book is good as a new read or as a reminder. Its sixteen chapters each focus on how different aspects of your character, emotions, actions, and attitudes are all a choice. This book is full of quotes from famous people on each topic. You will journey through Attitude, Character, Values, Self-Discipline, Commitment, Teachability, Initiative, Passion, Courage, Responsibility, Growth, Relationships, Communication, Encouragement, Servanthood and Love. You could flip to almost any page and read a quote or two and be motivated and challenged.

This book is also a primer on Maxwell’s thoughts, with an excerpt in almost every chapter from others of his books, up to Winning With People which came out in December 2004. This book is a great jumping off point for personal development.
Maxwell states in The Choice is Yours “To gain ‘heat’ for growth, we need to get close to those who are already hot. Here’s how:
Spend time with great people.
Learn their great ideas through tapes, CD’s, and DVD’s
1. Visit Great places that will inspire you.
2. Attend great events that will prompt you to pursue change.
3. Read great books.” P.90
Based on that imagery you can either be a coal in your own fire, or place yourself closer to other coals and burn brighter. I challenge you to read one or more of these books and see if you are not ignited.

Would rate at 3.5 stars except it doesn't exist. Instead of being a book this would be better classified as a collection of quotes and small anecdotes. The shortness of the collection is confusingly contrasted by a large number (16) of topics presented. Learning important information about so many different areas of readers lives makes it difficult to retain that knowledge.
The quotes were wonderful and highly relevant for my life. Very encouraging content which with a little practice will be applied. Overall, good collection of quotes and anecdotes with too many topics and too little details.

It was a good book, a very easy read, but I enjoyed it. I was expecting more story or development, but instead, it turned out to be a book full of quotes, which is not bad, it's just that I wasn't expecting that. I recommend it to people who love quotes and being uplifted.

Short and inspiring. Great choice for someone younger looking to spark their interest in the self-help genre.

i like a quote from harold kushner:
the purpose of life is not to win (to defeat others)
the purpose of life is to grow & share... i want to add one more thing:
to finish the race for your life as Paul said.

The book "highlights", that is, breaks down every choice we get everyday of our lives. It contains excepts from his previous books. I particularly enjoyed it because it helped me process my thoughts on service(Servanthood). It's a great read!
