Story line has potential, BUT - get a proof reader, and an editor. The grammar was poor, book(s) were riddled with mistakes both in spelling and grammar. Writing, at times seemed to have gaps in the story, leaving unanswered questions for the reader to guess what happened and how the characters go the next action. Can't even imagine a war vet being that naïve or careless in some of the situations he found himself in.

Read only 11% and was done. I just couldn't get into it. I also didn't care for the author's style of writing.

A good story.

This a good story, and the action is great, however the grammatical errors occur far to often and take away from the overall enjoyment of the story. I feel the characters themselves could have been fleshed out a bit more, there's no sense of attachment to their well being. That all being said, it's still a fascinating angle and I do look forward to reading the next season.

I felt like I was reading a "Dick and Jane" adventure (yes, I'm that old). I found the syntax and sentence structure awkward. The author could also benefit from a good editor. I read the entire book but found it went off in needless directions and over explanations of what was happening. I won't be reading anything else by this author.

Good reading, besides it took me quite some time to get involved with the story, and the spelling and grammar mistakes are definitely a downside. But at a certain point it starts getting really catchy. From my point of view, it achieves its purpose, considering the genre.

Good read

It was a good read. Some editorial flaws. I am looking forward to season 2. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read alternate/end of the world as we know it books.

Great sci-fi tale

Hard to put down. Couldn't wait to see what would happen next and I can't wait for the next book.

Not Thrilling

Cardboard characters. Bad editing. Snail like pace. Three weeks into the attack and everyone's ok with shooting their fellow humans. Not believable.

I gave up about 25% through the book when the spelling, grammar, and the number of typos made it impossible for me to continue. The story was not particularly interesting either.

I originally gave this book a 4 heart rating. However, I had a horrible time writing a review for it. I've finally figured out why. I don’t think I liked the story as much as I thought I did. Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but there’s no other way to say it. I found that I was unable to really get “into” the story until about 50% of the way through. Once I did get into it, I was absolutely hooked. I couldn't put down the book.

Episode 1 starts off with a bang (literally) and the action doesn't stop from there. The plot had some predictable moments but was, for the most part, engaging. My biggest issue is that the likelihood of any of the presented situations actually occurring was zero; the outcomes were even less credible. The book is separated into 2 arcs which follow the paths of brothers, Logan and Kenneth, 3 weeks after an alien invasion. One is a love/rescue story and the other a Nike/race to the bittersweet victory story. Both arcs were full of gaps that never get filled. I feel like there is a great story at the core of this book that’s begging to be told; I don’t think that the desire was truly fulfilled in this work. Aside from my various plot issues, the writing style wasn’t bad. There were quite a few grammatical errors, but not enough to detract from the core story… well, once I got into it.

I saw many reviews where character development in this book was deemed shallow. I disagree with that. I thought the characters were well developed, they were just shallow (and some, not likable) people. It sort of mirrors life, not everyone is a complex human being. I did, however, find fault with the development of the aliens. There’s a huge (picture Grand Canyon) plot twist around the aliens that’s thrown at us and never fully explained. Once that was uncovered, I felt that the aliens were just way too weak. The chase scenes and gun fights between the aliens and the humans felt like comic relief as in Mars Attacks. Even their weakness (considering the planet they decided to attack) was comical.

I think I've settled into a 3 star rating for this book. I will definitely have to be picky when recommending this book. If you’re new to this genre, then this may be the book for you. For hard-core fans of post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction, this is not the book for you.

The kindest thing I can say about this is the premise is interesting. Otherwise, the dialog is wooden and unrealistic, the characters are not engaging, the story is confusing and hard to follow, the grammar and spelling are laughable-in short, it's still a long session with an editor and some stylistic fixes from being an acceptable book.

This was one of the free ebooks I downloaded onto the kindle from Amazon, and have been slowly working through when on trips away where I don't want to take real books. I liked the premise: aliens invade earth and a group of ordinary people have to survive against the odds - so far, so Falling Skies... What let this down so badly was the writing, which was awful. Spelling and grammatical mistakes, completely unrealistic dialogue - American teens who refer to a person as a fellow, a friendly alien in the US using an Australianism like "No worries", brothers are reunited with the words "it's been so long since we parted"... People just don't talk like this! The story itself was OK: Logan, ex army, is about to marry Lucy, daughter of a billionaire, when alien planes appear and shoot up San Francisco. He and his brother escape and meet various characters along the way, most of whom get killed rather pointlessly, and they each set off on a different mission, Logan to rescue his fiancée from an evil Mexican gang lord (cliche much?) and Kenneth to let the U.S. Military know what's going on. They meet some friendly aliens - who all happen to be short human shaped - and blow various things up, and then it's the end of Season 1 (which is broken up into 6 episodes - the author cleared hoped someone would make a TV series of this - good luck with that...) and there is no chance of me reading Season 2, even if it were free: I made it to the end to find out what happened, but couldn't face more of the terrible adolescent prose.

For a post-apocalyptic story, it wasn't very survivalist to me. The planet was attacked by aliens but you wouldn't really know it. There are two story lines. One following Logan on his quest to rescue his girl and the other following his brother Kenneth and two teens as they tried to get to a military base. Besides the small mentions of little gas for cars and stockpiling food & weapons there wasn't much to go on. There was little interactions with the aliens and we have no idea why they attacked or what they have been doing in the 3 months they have been here. It seemed too easy for people to get cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, skis, boats.... even the type of guns they had.

The writing style annoyed me more than anything else. There was a lot of stating the obvious and over explanations.

"As Kenneth glanced back and saw they sled bumping around quite a bit, he thought they had better slow down. He suggested this to Doug and so, as they rounded a bend, the snowmobile decreased speed."

I get it all ready! They need to slow down.

I lean toward three to three and 1/2 stars for this. First couple of episodes not that compelling and as is mentioned in other reviews there are grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the story. If you stick with it, it becomes a rather enjoyable read.

Ultimately I decided to round up to four stars primarily because the later episodes do entertain and I can get pass grammatical and spelling issues that could be corrected with a good proofreading or with the aid of an editor.

If you release a 2nd season Mr. Moxham, I'll stick with it!!

This is a good book, or I should say series since this is season 1 of the series. It's about an invasion of aliens on earth changing the planet. Leaving survivors alive in small areas that help each other to survive the aliens.

Also gangs take over cities and is another threat to humanity. Brothers, Logan and Kenneth try to help two teenagers find their parents, save Logan's fiance, and defeat the aliens with allied aliens. This story keeps you wanting more after each episode.

I liked the premise of the book and the great potential that could make it a series book set.

There are many twists and turns in the plot, but it is riddled with some grammer and context errors. The book may have been written quickly and not edited as closely as it could have been. Another look by the author could straighten it up.

It moved quickly as a story of an alien invasion, a love story, and surviving all of it.

Here's to a new series, just finished the first episode and I loved it. I can tell that it's going to be exciting. Logan and Kenneth seen like they are going to be very busy trying to save the world. Next for Logan is saving the woman he loves. What a relief she is alive! Now if he can just get her away from the town creepo.

Interesting

This was a good book. It honestly was a little confusing in parts...the constant switching between characters/events really threw me off. The plot seemed a little...vague. Overall, it held me attention for the most part, even if I really didn't understand everything going on at some points.

More please!

loved this book. could not put it down! many sleepless nights because I couldn't stop reading. this book could have used a little more editing for typos and missing words, but even that didn't deter me from being glued to the Story. typos and missing words usually break my focus on a story. but not on this one.

Amazing

I love the story line of this amazing season. I loved how the author told everyone's point of view of their adventures took place. I especially loved that it was clean of language unlike most books I have read. thanks for taking the time to right this book Paul

This book was so bad. It was written poorly. Not poor grammar wise, but stylistically. Don't tell me everything the character is doing, show me. Also, the introduction of the attack was simply stupid. I didn't get past the first chapter. Save yourselves. Skip this book.

Season 1 is okay. There are quite a few grammatical errors. If you like science fiction that has aliens, spaceships, war, the deaths of secondary characters, this could be the book for you. A lot happens in each episode. Season 2 could be better....I don't know.

A great read for young teens?

Poor editing, author needs a good proofreader! Also, non-stop action is good - maybe, but a truly good read needs more than that and this doesn't have it. Young readers should enjoy it.
